Love your reaction to the even more speed. I had a customer back in the day who had a Yamaha XL700. I think it was an ex-rental also. He came in and in pure seriousness he was asking me how to make it faster so he could beat his buddies Venture 1100. He wasn’t to happy when I told him to sell it and buy a XL1200. I did tell him the 98 xl 1200 though. Not the PV version. I was trying to make sure he wasn’t breaking down before he raced his buddy, lol.
Kevin! Do a similar review on the stx160 models! I just spoke with the guys from Kspeed and got a stage one and ride plate for the stx160lx and cant wait to install it. I'll post some videos on UA-cam when I do this..
Thanks alot for the input Kevin. I ended up getting stage 1 kspeed and pulley upgrade. (Also Riva free flow exhaust, CAI, SCOM, & sponsons) I do have a concern on the pulley its a -2mm. I'm from PA haven't gotten it on the water yet but with that pulley upgrade should I be concerned on any potential issues or think about anything else with doing that pulley? You think ski will be fine and not have any issues with just doing that pulley? Keep in mind it won't be pinned all the time or anything. Just every now and then I wanna fly and get my rocks off. Just want to pick your brain a little. Appreciate any feedback you have. Thanks for the great content on the channel. It's been helpful.
Waitaminute. You did the pulley WITHOUT the reflash? DO NOT RUN THAT SKI. That pulley REQUIRES extra fuel and a remapped ECU. Without you're going to lean out your AFR and possibly grenade your pistons.
@@watercraftjournal k speed reflashed my ecu when I bought the stage 1 I stated to reflash my ski for all the following upgrades (CAI, free flow exhaust, SCOM, -2 mm pulley & the stage 1) So the ecu is all reflashed correctly to my specific upgrades. Just curious on what potential issues I may have doing all this or if there's anything I need to be concerned about or any pointers.
My first concern is that you shouldn't need a SCOM at all if your ECU has been reflashed, as the new program should remove the speed control settings. If Kspeed knows all the parts you've installed (most importantly the wheel) and wrote the tune accordingly, you should be hitting 80+ in ideal conditions, no problem. Mind you, Kawi's pistons are weak, hypereutectic castings so it's going to likely soak up A LOT MORE fuel than before. (Extra fuel is used to "cool" the intake charge to keep the piston's dome surfaces from heating up.) -K
@@watercraftjournal SCOM was on the ski before I got all these parts. Ill take that off tho. It's useless anyways like you said. Thanks a million for the input. Just hope the pistons hold up and I won't have any internal issues down the road. The ski only has 35 hours on it I believe.
Would pump wedge benefit my gp I just purchased 13/18 impeller and power filter I have ecu stage 1 flash !!! Ordered gen 2 intake grate and pump seal will I see 80 mph
I did a riva stage 1+ kit for my buddies 2018 gp1800. After I did the intake grate reinforcement (17-18) I installed the riva programmer, intake grate bc (17-18s) dont come with a scoop style grate, the pump seal kit, air filter kit, ribbon delete, cooling upgrade, Solas 13/18, and a macboost blowoff valve I saw 80mph on the gps. That was with a full tank of full along with my 225lb butt.
@@shaunrigby6599 that’s awesome you need to unleash the beast flash that bad boy only thing you be disappointed with is why you didn’t do it last season 👍🏻

JE and Wiseco make REALLY nice pistons for the 1.5L Kawis. FYI.
