    Y’know something I miss from The Sims 3 that NO ONE ever seems to bring up? Opportunities. Like, even if you somehow got bored of the game, you could always find a little fun side-quest to keep you busy. And you didn’t even need expansions for this or anything, they built upon the feature the more packs you bought. With the Sims 4 though, if you get bored cause you’ve pretty much done everything...that’s pretty much it, because there’s no depth to anything.

    • @tirsden
      @tirsden 4 роки тому +91

      Actually, Sims 3 will grind it saves to a corrupted halt due to a bug that spawns huge numbers of cars in townies' inventories, so you do need NRAAS Overwatch to stop that from happening. MasterController is also useful to get around game-breaking bugs. Meanwhile the only mod I have for Sims 4 is "no React With Disgust" but I suppose that's because I play enough games, the vanilla (with most of the expansions) experience is enough for me. That's not to say I couldn't whine up a storm about all the problems Sims 4 DOES have, butanyways.

    The sims 3 made me literally cry! I had a generation challenge going, one of my sims died and her wife, who she had met as a kid briefly and then reunited with in adulthood and fell into a beautiful relationship, had a longer lifespan than hers because of one of her traits, but eventually when she died as well I placed both of their graves on the cemetery next to each other. I thought nothing of it. But their son was out looking for collectibles one day and thought I could send him to the graveyard for rare things. As soon as I zoom into the graveyard I notice two ghosts dancing, and then hugging. It was the couple!!! Even after death they still loved each other. I sat there and cried for a good 10 minutes before I could unpause the game again.

    • @tirsden
      @tirsden 4 роки тому +229

      That's beautiful, Sims 3 sims did really keep track of their own relationships... for the most part.
      I was truly horrified as I watched one of my own sims in NPC mode come over to a sim I was playing in the current household at the time, and the NPC pulled my sim into a huge kiss. The NPC sim's husband was on the lot, and freaked the flip out. This is a couple I had worked hard on during previous gameplay. I only realized later that a random townie witch had probably cast the kissing spell on the NPC sim and he had kissed my sim since I was the first person to talk to him after the spell... but that changes nothing for how awful I felt, especially when I saw the notification go by that the NPC's husband was not interested in fixing their relationship and had moved on.
      I ended up fixing their relationship myself later on, when I played that household again. That game really needs a relationship/loyalty lock on individual sims. So does Sims 4, for that matter, though cheating doesn't seem to have nearly the same impact in Sims 4 as it does in 3.

      It’s awesome to see wholesome autistic people! The only autistic people I’ve ever met are super toxic and use their diagnoses as a crutch to act like a total weirdo! You guys are all so nice ❤️
      Edit: ok so a lot of you guys really mistook my comment and I’m so sorry that it came across like that. By “toxic” I didn’t mean the symptoms of having autism. I meant the people that I’ve met at school that purposely insult and take other people’s things and then say “oh I have autism so it’s ok.” It wasn’t their autism that made them act like this, it was the way they were raised. They were raised to believe that they are different, that their autism gives them an excuse to be treated like they should be on a pedestal. The teachers at my school would never correct them, and my brother got detention one time because an autistic kid stole his pencil, he stole it back, and the kid tattled to the teacher that my brother “stole his pencil.” Now my brother is a sweet kid. He even made friends with an autistic girl, Sarah. She would talk about Undertale and fnaf all the time, and she was so passionate about what she loved. But she would cry and scream all the time during the school day. It was obvious how she was mistreated and that she was sheltered while growing up. The teachers never helped her. I tried to help her the best I could, by calming her down and trying to help her understand that screaming when something didn’t go your way wasn’t ok. Now I’m no expert on autism. You guys have made me understand that. Nor did I ever think I was. But I’ve had an interesting history with them. It’s nice to meant people that are kind, sweet, wholesome, and understanding even though they still have autism. But I can also see how much it has harmed a lot of you. You guys have mentioned being bullied, and being called a “weirdo” because your brain doesn’t function like others. And that’s not ok. You all deserve better. You deserve to live the same as everyone else. So what if your brain doesn’t function the same? Big deal. You’re all living human beings with thoughts and feelings and beautiful personalities. No one should take away that awesome spirit that each and everyone of you have. And the fact that you’re all willing to defend and help people in your community is amazing! I hope that I can educate people that I know with the knowledge that you’ve all given me today. I hope that Sarah will meet other people like you guys someday too!

    The fact that the sims 4 team missed out on key gameplay elements that are SO EASY and make SUCH a difference is embarrassing. Sims players aren't opposed to the concept of rabbit holes. Having a physical school or grocery store that just happens to be a rabbit hole makes a WORLD of difference, compared to your sim leaving every day for work or school, and never seeing the school bus or the carpool, never seeing the building they work in, etc. they didn't need to reinvent the wheel with the sims 4 but they somehow made it more boring, which is impressive

    • @DragonSire

      EA treats Sims the same as their sports games, it's all about DLC. Upcoming Skin changes are a prime example. Color Wheels etc have always been possible. But unless people complain enough it's not worth the $$ to EA. They could open world the game, with patches and world updates. They could add vehicles, create a style. There is nothing that prevents them except $$. Sims 4 has become a $700+ game, think on that a minute. For $700 shouldn't this game be mind blowing? People shouldn't be looking back at Sims 3 and wondering why it could do things Sims 4 can't.

Though I would often drag individual color swatches to different items that I wanted to match, for instance if I made a custom chair and wanted the table to have the same wood. And for some things I'd drag individual colors to different items, like if I wanted the curtains to be the same color as one of the shades in the chairs' cushion pattern. GOD do I miss this level of customization! I really hate how things in TS4 just don't match and I have to choose items based on color scheme rather than style to make rooms cohesive.

I got them to go steady, go to prom together, and shortly after she aged up to Young Adult I was like, why NOT have them get married straight away? My Sim is down on one knee proposing, their relationship is great, I'm already planning their lives together when it happens - her Sim boyfriend shakes his head no, and she gets up, devastated. I am in SHOCK wondering wtf is going on when it happens, the little notification appears "Kaya has learned that Omar is Insane" - I DIED. I couldn't even be mad, I was straight up impressed, Sims 3 had surprised me in a way that I'd forgotten Sims games could after playing 4 for so long.

    The thing I loved about Sim 3 aspirations was that it actually felt like you completed a life long dream. I remember when I used to play it, I really had to work my ass off just complete it. And the amount of points you get was suuuuper worth it. I feel like with sims 4 it’s just a continuous completion of some random wishes. Like it doesn’t feel special anymore?? You complete one aspiration as if it’s just another chore, it’s just too easy to achieve for a main aspiration.
    Also, the personalities give so much opportunities for stories to be created! My friend mentioned to me that she was playing her family with 3 generations in sims 3. The main chick she was focusing on within the family was receiving so much bad luck like her husband died, children died before her, had a freaking baby sitter steal her baby (bug). While her sister, which my friend didn’t focus on, fell in love with her childhood friend n got married had two children and died a happy life. She didn’t even touch this sim yet they created relationships and had SOULS. Sims 4 sims could never. They cant even take care of themselves. My sim KITERALLY died because he had no idea why he was cold when he was wearing sports clothes outdoor during winter time 🤦🏽‍♀️ sims 3 sims would’ve changed clothes by theirselves.

    • @RyanStar10023
      @RyanStar10023 4 роки тому +45

      Yes! That's the thing I hate most about aspirations in the sims 4. It's like you have to follow this specific path to achieve it and it gets repetitive quickly, but with lifetime wishes in sims 3 it's so much easier to forge your own path to achieve it. Heck even the aspirations system in sims 2 was better since at least the wants in it changed daily unlike in sims 4 where all the tasks for all aspirations stay the same.

    • @cayreet5992
      @cayreet5992 4 роки тому +15

      True. The lifetime wish in Sims 3 can be reached on different paths and the small wishes they have are more of a better version of the whims. There's no railroading you into the way you play, there's just the decision what your sim will strive for in their life and then your decisions when and how and if you will have them reach that.

    To everyone here with lags and too long (I'm talking about 10-30 minutes long) loading screens, I have some tips for you that may help (helped me a lot and my laptop is six years old, turns seven next month) ✨
    • Get to know your device's specs, like graphics card, CPU and RAM; you don't have to be a professional, but at least learn what especially your graphics card was built for initially (googling does the trick), it's important to actually know how well it handles games in general (e.g. an NVidia GTX is/was made especially for gaming, while a GT wasn't). With that 'knowledge', you can optimize your settings better (it's a lot of trial and error tbh)
    • Google "Sims 3 optimal settings" and follow trustworthy tutorials (I can link one in case someone needs it), most if not all of them explain why certain settings are better than others and how they affect the gameplay
    • turn off the interactive loading screen, this is very important and saves a lot of time (and you don't need the small amount of aspiration points it gives you)
    • turn off memories (I'm not sure how they're called, like these yellowish notifications about stuff your Sims does (seen around 13:00 in the video, the notifications Jesse clicks away). I cannot properly explain why memories take up resources as I'm not sure about it myself (I'm not a professional 😅), but once I turned them off out of curiosity, I found my game to run more smoothly and also you don't get spammed with notifications every time your Sims does something remotely interesting - this feature is just plain unnecessary in my opinion, like, you know what they're doing and also these "screenshots" the game takes of the captured event always look terrible
    • if you're comfortable with modding (it's so easy to do, there's many great tutorials 😇), get into NRaas mods that actually clean up your towns (I can link you these ones too). My bf got me into these mods (esp. traffic, overwatch, register) and they're simply amazing and easy to use! They catch a lot of errors and prevent crashing, you have full control over things like paparazzis, wild animals etc. (you can 'delete' them so they don't even spawn, which again saves resources resulting in less lags, but also I hate paparazzis so I just get rid of them 😂), they clean up things you don't even think about (did you know that, for instance, some TVs or stereos don't turn themselves off, so your pc has to process multiple of those running at the same time all while you play - that eats up resources as well, and Overwatch takes care of those issues and turns them off)
    Some advanced tips:
    • if you're super into CC and have lots of it installed (like I do 🥰), consider watching tutorials about merging package files. Merging packages can actually help reduce loading times when it comes to build/buy or even CAS
    • you can even convert Sims3packs into packages and merge them as well (I haven't tried that yet, but my favorite Simmer said it works well for her - I'd link her tutorials but she's German, but I'm sure there's English tutorials about that as well)
    I probably forgot some tips, but these really helped me enhance my gaming experience! Feel free to add more and I hope this was helpful ✨

      I believe Sims 3 was EA's last creation before they changed the company's leadership to a group of old businessmen that don't understand or care for the gaming industry other than that it sells well. And after that point, EA have only been releasing products that have been cheap to produce and lacking proper content but sell the games for ridiculously high prices. Sims 4 is a perfect example of how a company base their sales off of hype or trends but don't actually care for the gamers.

    For me, The Sims 5 should have all the good things of every version combined and even improve upon.
    Features list: (good things of every version)
    The Sims 1:
    - Spooky, horrors musics play when a burglar comes or receiving a prank call.
    The Sims 2:
    - Deep storylines with interconnected relationships around the town. These interesting and mysterious stories make my imaginations go wild.
    - Wants and Fears
    - Turn ons & turn offs
    - Cutscenes
    - Ghosts in The Sims 2 are more mysterious. They can scare your sims, make objects fly but can never talk to sims like human beings and that creates creepy atmosphere. For me, it’s more interesting that way.
    - Highly detailed objects than The Sims 4.
    - Animations that go along with the topics being discussed.
    - Detailed animations about everything in general like a sim grabbing cooking utensils from a drawer when cooking, sims actually grabbing a slice of pizza one by one (not a slice of pizza magically appear in a sim’s hand while the whole pizza is still intact.), sims playing a real chess game, moving a piece to its real position, taking out a captured piece (not the pieces magically transport to their positions), sims actually get in a car, etc.
    You can watch The Sims 2 details that aren’t in TS3 & TS4 on UA-cam
    ua-cam.com/video/LlWEvlW9jbY/v-deo.html
    The Sims 3:
    - Open world (but with optimized code and less buggy of course!)
    - Color wheel and slider for CAS and build & buy mode.
    - Create-A-Style
    - 5 traits per sim
    - Bunker beds that aren’t modded
    - Opportunities
    - the 4th speed through tasks button
    The Sims 4:
    - Good-looking sims
    - Push and pull CAS
    - Build & buy mode in this game is amazing and with the platform it’s beyond amazing!
    - Multitasks
    - Emotions with sentiments
    - The Sims 4 graphics are nice but they’re a little too cartoony like a dollhouse instead of a life simulation. I want it to have better lighting and more realistic graphics while retaining cartoony looks at the same time, like Disney Pixar graphics.
    If The Sims 5 have these features I mentioned above, it will be the best game of all time!

I mean open worlds, cars, world editor, create a style/color wheel, etc. They even gave us all that in the....wait for it... BASE GAME ffs. Sims 4 came out and they said "what's a dishwasher? idk. toddlers? never heard of em!...etc." SO much content for every pack and, again, the BASE GAME in the Sims 3. The Sims 4 comes out with packs like Luxury Party for $10 with like 8 items. Nonsense. Oh, and the ability to download OTHER neighborhoods that DIDNT REPLACE CURRENT ONES (yes I am looking at you Sims 4), was such a great feature. The Sims 3 was and still is ahead of its time. The Sims 4 was more a sequel to the Sims 1 (since even the Sims 2 offered swatches you could mix n match, etc.). I really hope the Sims 5 is what the Sims 3 was with less crashing lol

      The Sims 2 also has so many little detailed animations that TS3 & TS4 don’t have. And I love The Sims 2 stories about entangled relationships between families around the neighborhood. The Sims 4 stories are unimportant and uninteresting. There’s no relationship between families.
      The Sims 3 with TS2 stories and detailed animations with TS4 good looking sim faces would be fantastic.

I LOVED THAT YOU COULD GO TO A SIMS HOUSE and WATCHING THEM GO IN CARS. I made Agnes Crumplebottom and Jamie Jolina fall in love and it soothed my young gay heart

    The sims 3 was just so much more in depth and easier to create a story. The open world and being able to stalk people all over and the whole world felt like it was more real and constantly running. In the sims 4 or 2 it feels more closed off to just your active household. Sims 3 im running 3 or 4 families at a time using open world. Sims 4 feels like once someone leaves ur household they're gone and useless and the story hardly progresses. Sims 3 is just so much more deep, small detials and way more stuff to do. It still runs amazing on my 2012 acer laptop. The families in sunset Valley and their stories are so interesting too.

      This!! Ive always been stuck with low end computers so a game being slow/lagging isnt really an issue for me, I have patience to deal with it but I also like to remind people that sims 3 is massive once you have most packs installed and theres a constant change of events going on in the background. The game doesnt only check on your sims but it also has to keep all the other townies active and have them progress and roam around the neighborhood. Its a super impressive game once you think about it.

    If EA could just make a semi updated combination of Sims 3 and Sims 2 I would happily spend money on it. Sims 3 will always be my favourite because it was my introduction to the Sims games playing by myself and Sims 2 is hands down amazing and the expansion packs for each game were so awesome.
