Just assembled mine two days ago. The same day i received it. I had watched the video about 3 times before I started to assemble it. While it was being shipped. I did it just like this guy says to do it. I unpacked everything first before assembling much of it. As i started i used the bolts that he said to use and i counted the ones in the package and it made it easy to figure out which ones were which. It is even easier now because the step of driving in the pin into the top plate of the weight stack is already done. So one step that is not necessary any longer. Most of the assembly went perfectly and all of the holes lined up perfectly no messing around at all. I was impressed at how easy this was to assemble. But it is not because of the paper instructions, they are not that great at assembly. This video is the key to success. The pulleys were very simple to install watching him do it first. The other side was the same i did not need to watch the video as it was fairly simple. Putting weights takes some time and i have not put on the weight stickers as of yet. I figured i will at my next workout. I will use the pin to help with the alignment of the stickers. I also bought the pins to add up to 25 lbs more to the weight stack and they work perfect. No problems at all. I cannot believe how smooth it works. It took me about an hour to unpack the boxes. It took me about 1 1/2 hours to assemble by myself. Two people might help a little but not really needed. Putting the two towers together with the top brace early on really helped. But i put both sides together like the video before i connected them in the middle. I did not tighten any bolts until the end. The only skimpy pieces on the whole unit were the carabiners and the cheap chain. But useable for sure. I cannot stress enough to watch the video and do the bolts like he says. No headaches and no problem assembly. Everything was so well packaged and protected too. Very impressive how well everything was packed together. Everything was wrapped on the palate and boxed well. I did a quick video of the boxes and not on the assembly on madmaxketo on you tube. If you are interested to see how the boxes arrive.

Just assembled mine yesterday alone. It took me 8 hours if you factor in the unboxing, etc. Give yourself most of the day to do it. I was somewhat distracted by a football game, but still no way just 1 hour if it is your 1st time putting it together. Also have a rubber mallet handy as with the powder coating and slight tolerance deviation the pieces don't quite fit perfectly. You'll need to tap them into place. I didn't like banging on my brand-new equipment with a hammer, but I was able to get the pin in without much trouble, just be careful you don't miss and ding-up your weight. I put the bolts through from the inside out - with the nut on the outside wherever possible. Since it is going to be in a corner, it looks cleaner when looking directly on it. Seems well made and can't wait to start using it!

I did not have to put the pin into the top of the weight stack plates as you did. I think they come pre installed now. So it really did take me about 1 1/2 hours to put together. But i had no game on either. And the assembly time for me did not include the one hour for unboxing everything. No distractions so it was not as long for me. I am glad i did not have to put the pins in. But i also watched the video about 4 times all the way through so i did like he did and used a power ratchet to assemble and tighten the bolts. I am not saying you were slow. Just pointing out some differences for me. 💪

This has to be one of the nicest functional trainers available at this price, the weight stacks are kinda low but that’s what those Olympic plate adaptor pins are for. Everyone cheaps out on the wheels but not BoS, and that pull up bar is awesome

Appreciate the kind words! It is a smooth piece, and opens up SO many doors for variety. Very... functional. ;)

Regarding the assembly step that starts around 7:45, I'd suggest covering a q-tip with a lubricant of some type (i used 3-in-1 oil), and apply a thin layer in the area that the pin will be hammered into, as well as a bit on the end of the pin you're starting with. Make sure everything stays aligned properly as you hammer the pin into the hole.

    Great video!
Is there a video for the Bells Of Steel Plate Loaded Functional Trainer?
I am awaiting my delivery of it and would love to have already watched the tutorial installation video before it arrives. Thank you.

This video doesn’t show where to put the 4 metal tubes.. the instructions show them going under the rubber weight stoppers if anybody wasn’t sure

Could you tell me what the 2 small chains included go to? Are they meant to extend the grip on the handles?

Did you ever change a top cable on Hudson steel exercise machine
I bought one from a reseller and I had to cut the cable because it went through welded parts that the piece could not get through

There have been some modifications since the initial launch, if you're still having issues your best bet would be to send a photo of the piece in question to our email address so we can support you better there.

Just assembled mine. One of the weight stacks has a gap between the top piece and the 1st 10lb stack. It looks like there is a missing stack but I’ve counter them a dozen times. It prevents the pin from going in properly. Any idea what is going on?

If the middle rod clips the weight plates as it goes up and down, is there any way to fix it?

Is the depth of the unit 30" and 53" wide as per web site? if that's the case i will pick this instead of the inspire ftx even that one is cheaper but 41" deep.

Do you think lat pull down bar will work fine with the functinal trainer?

Any tips on how to get that pin into the top hole of the silver bar that goes down through the middle of the weights? I have hammered the crap out of that thing and it isn't going anywhere. Looking with a flashlight through the other side it looks lined up, but it is very stuck. I'm smashing it hard enough that the end of the metal pin is starting to smash in, but that pin still isn't going in. How did others here get that thing in there? Looking at the setup on the other side, the pin just seems too big to fit through that smaller top hole.

I have the same problem. I believe the wrong size pins came with mine. BOS is sending me 2 new pins that are supposed to be the correct size...we'll see. BOS customer service is very respondent. And the machine looks to be very good quality. Can't wait to start using it!

I have the same issue and now the pin is stuck. How did you even get the pin out??@@williamkinney5189

WD-40 solved my problem -- it un-stuck a pin that was being hammered successfully but that stuck -- and it also loosened a pin that I'd hammered in while (accidentally) slightly out of alingment | there I was able to push the pin out a bit by inserting the selector pin in the other side, and hammering gently.
-- I wish this video just told people to use some sort of lube when hammering - it made everying SO much easier.

This looks great. Add a carriage that allows me to put olympic plates on there too and a smith option, I'd be buying this to add to my garage. 160lbs at 1:2 just doesn't get there.

Nope, just bought today, there is no hole on foot, and I also asked just in case, was curious about it being bolted down aswell, a little late but now you have the answer 😊

It should be called a DYSFUNCTIONAL trainer. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. We purchased one of these functional trainers over a month ago and there was a long list of missing parts. The parts came 10 days later and some of the replacement parts were wrong. We got the replacement replacement parts today, and they were literally just random parts that had nothing to do with our order. We are left with a non-functional trainer that cost us a lot of money.

We're sorry you're having issues with your functional trainer order.
If it still hasn't been resolved, let us know and we can ask a CS team member to look into this case specifically
