- Just a quick test to see if altering the power assist amounts on the M5 display on the EP-2 500w motor, between 3, 5, and 9, makes any difference to the top speed. 3 and 9 do appear to get a higher speed, I wasn't convinced at first, and thought it may just be fooling the display, but going off the sound of the motor, it definitely sounds as if it's spinning faster. Only comparing this to a GPS reading will truly tell. Setting it to either 3 or 9 may have effects on the battery range though I would have thought ... Part 2 will be on road testing.

Ha ha. Same here ! I was initially under the assumption that a decent e bike would cost £2k if you believe what many specialist London e bike retailers will tell you. Then I came across these videos. It would be disappointing if they just refund us and we don't get them. Although I believe there are other options to buy Engwe but Ali was best price
There's a fine line between making a profit and being greedy. Aliexpress takes some beating, so long as you're prepared to wait.

hi friend, i tried and it works. If I set the PAS to a maximum of 3 levels, the maximum speed without me above is 46kmh (28mph). With me on top with a 100% charged battery the speed is 43kmh (26mph) a really good result. Thanks a lot for your suggestion.
Not tested the effect on the battery range though. I'm sure it would make a difference.
@@MidlandBulletRiders surely there will be a little less autonomy but I don't think so much difference, on the other hand the difference in speed is not a lot. How many km / I have you managed to do with the PAS assistance to the maximum ?? I have calculated to be able to do about 50km / 31mi with maximum power.
@@Humanature85 I have not tried a distance test yet, to see what range is possible from a full charge. There are so many other factors to take into account too. Plus I mainly use pas 2 or 3.

I wanted to ask. You said you bought the engwe ep2 from aliexpress. How much custom tax and changes did you have to pay when the bike arrived in the UK. Im asking this because I have seen the same bike id like to buy on aliexpress. Was the shipping coming with insurance in case the bike was damaged in transit? im asking as i don't want to be hit by a massive customs bill if i buy a bike from aliexpress.
The price I paid on Ali was the total cost including all shipping and nothing else to pay. At the moment it looks like they are not shipping to the UK, due to new customs rules. I'm sure this will be sorted out eventually. I know some people have been shipping to an Ireland address, then getting a courier to collect it from there. Obviously incurring added costs though.
Hi, any idea on this issue I have no matter which speed setting I chose in 1-5 it always goes to top speed so I cannot use pedal assist as it’s always fast but I would like to ride it with less power and pedal assist but can’t now it never use to do this?
On the Engine Pro you can change how much power each gear / level shall use of the motor. Ex when I had it on 1 to 5 level 5 was set to use 85% of the power. You can on the Engine model change it to whatever power out take you want in each levels. Did you check that on the EP2

@@MidlandBulletRiders yes . at first I was not able to go the 45 kmh they said it could max like 38 kmh. Then I saw in the setting that it was set to use aprox 80 or 85%% of the power in level 5 ( high) I changed it to 95% and then it did 42 kmh....:) BTW the Engine pro is super cool.
Not sure the 75= w is so much better. Battery can only sent like 630W at the max and it is heavier
hello, do you know how to change the power of each gear (pas 1 .2. 3 etc) on this lcd display? I couldn t find it in the setting mode. I would like to slow down the PAS1 and 2 and keep the max power of PAS5 ; THank you
In the settings of 21P to 25P. there's an option to change the percentage of power for each assist. 90=35%, 117=46%, 150=59%, 180=71%, 220=86%. You could try lowering those first 2 numbers, but I have no idea if this works as I haven't tried it. These are the default settings if there's any problems. 21P - 090 / 22P - 117 / 23P - 150 / 24P - 180 / 25P - 220. Another way would be to change the number of power assists to 9. @@MidlandBulletRiders Yes I agree I think it s the solution. But I cant access to this setting, my setting mode goes from P1 to P17 only and I coudn't find why.
I just another video in which I saw you changing the max speed while on the road. I've no clue what I've done today, but somehow 21P-25P are all set to 295. I hope I can change all those and get it saved. You're very helpful with your info.

hi, i have a question. I bought this ebike on the internet, 2nd hand. he told me that when the battery indicates it is at 39 volts, you should stop cycling. is this correct? because I don't get further than 8 km.
Fully charged should be around 54v. The bike will slow or stop before you reach 39v
@@MidlandBulletRiders when i ride the bike from 54V to 39V i can only reach like 7-9KM. Do the settings affect this?

It's a rough indication of the remaining battery, but a better way is to press the mode button until you see the battery voltage,

Hi, is it possible to disable throttle? In Italy it is illegal :) I mean when biking in city. Thanks.
There is an option in the settings, but I have not been able to get it to work. I suppose you could fit a switch in the throttle wire, allowing you to turn it on and off.

I just got stopped by the police yesterday and told it is illegal to ride in the uk. It is technically a motorbike and therefore needs an m.o.t.. number plate..and I need a license and insurance to ride it. Is there anyway to disable the throttle so it just becomes a pedal assisted bicycle.. I have been riding it for 2 years without a problem. Just unlucky to get caught I guess.
Did you do this in throttle mode ?
Yes. There will be a future video testing this in real road use, using a phone app to get an accurate comparison.
Still waiting for mine to arrive from Poland. Been showing “packed ready to be picked up” on tracking for over a week which is frustrating

Ordered mine on 23/12. I messaged them 2 days ago through Ali app and just received this / "The logistics company is waiting for customs notification" I'm not exactly sure what that means. I ordered it before we left EU so I hope they are not going to come back to me and ask for extra shipping / tax etc. Any thoughts on this ? Thanks.
@@aldeperez1521 I am the same as you I ordered 28/12 they have got the money , but not shipping bike, would not be surprised if we get a message saying there duty to pay before shipping
I'm not sure where we would legally stand on that. I've bought a few Ali items in 21 and tax has automatically been included. We purchased the item fairly in 20 and there was no mention of tax / being added later etc. I have a feeling that the onus is on them as they should have shipped it pre 21 in which case they must incur any additional charges. This is only my thought not de facto law. Even if this is correct it would probably be extremely disappointed difficult to enforce any law on them. They would prob just say "no payment no shipping " . In my opinion they should honour what they said which was free eu shipping and we were part of EU at time of transaction.
How do I take of power assist
Would the 750w version be noticeably faster?
I believe they are around 10 km/h faster, But the range may be less as it will use more power, and the battery is only slightly larger.

The energy bar is at the top of the screen, but a more accurate one, is if you press the mode button to show the voltage of the battery.
@@MidlandBulletRiders thanks for the reply i bought a ew 2-pro and when i use program 5 and use throttle it just drops energy and bars but still go's fine i don't no what to do
@@antoflynn2861 The bars will drop when the bike is under load, but evens out again when not. It's only a rough estimate of what's left in it really, that's why I prefer to actually see what volts are in the battery. Between 39 and 54 volts is your fuel tank. Low 40's means you really be near home.

@@antoflynn2861 Does it have the same display as mine? if it's the newer one, I'm not familiar with that one. If it's the newer one try pressing the button that is facing you, see if it scrolls through options.

instead of making videos to talk nonsense. Find out before. the number of assistances makes it possible to make stages of speeds. It's like speed limiter
