Idk how it would work the VR controls, but if you use a HOTAS or gamepad you can bind the firing button for mgs and cannons to separate controls. As for ordinance weapon selection I’m not sure, but I spotted Multiple bomb types under the P47 at one time, so I would definitely hope for specific weapon selection but I will add this to the list!

I long for games where you played a random pilot in WWI or WWII and you played through the war as yourself earning medals and promotions. I'm talking about stuff like Red Baron, Aces Over Europe, and Aces Over The Pacific.
Try out Rise of Flight, is a WWI flight sim and it also has a campaign mode where you pick a plane and a squadron and the game feeds you different random mission each day of the war. Your purpose is to "survive" the entire war, there's no save, you die and you have to restart.

Even the AI are random, you can find "dumb" opponents or very good ones, but you never know before starting a fight. On the topic of splitting the WT sim community... Honestly if it means we get updates to modes and bug fixes I'll take it. It's really disappointing how many long standing issues continue to plague EC, and if AoT fixes that, fine. I just want sim mode to be good. VR exclusive will make some folks sad, but I already fly almost exclusively in VR, because it's awesome.
Honestly I wouldn't even say it's "splitting" it. The WT sim community barely even had a home to begin with in the game. And is tiny as it is. It's more like...finally giving them a nice apartment to move out to.
I think, if this game is good, it will make a few more people buy VR. It's crazy how awesome flight and racing sims and games are in virtual reality. VTOL on PCVR it amazing and I wish we had lots more like it. Just really hope this game has a large scale PVP thing and doesn't resort to tiny 4v4 tryhard arenas.
Man I miss playing air rb on Saipan. Really wish they’d bring back more of the pacific maps. I miss those days where the missions felt like you were really part of an actual battle.

Hand controls is a great idea, what made VTOL work was big buttons in the cockpit along with the excellent hand controls. The big controls are the reason why it works.
@@ZigaZagu the switches and controls are heavily simplified in vtol to the point where you’re only really interacting with mfds and sticks 90% of the time you’re dogfighting. My point is that the only way this game can be enjoyable and not terribly frustrating is if they increase the size of the switches and buttons to make them easily accessible even with sub par tracking (e.g. quest 2)
If it doesn't require full engine controls like DCS, this could be a good middle ground game to learn HOTAS without the constant worry of engine overheat and random engine failure. Could bring alot of people into sim.
I just HOPE they upped their game on the donkey sound effects that the warbirds in WT suffer from. I’m gonna be so let down if they ported over the same original sounds.

alright im in but they better not F up the scale of the cockpits. Il2 works just fine still and it has great external views that add a lot of immersion
looks pretty decent for an entry level sim. but i would like a mode where the "instructor" does absolutely nothing to assist you. you have full control. Thats the one thing i dont really like about warthunder is i feel the sim does half the work. After flying so much DCS and IL2 i cannot go back to warthunder. I havent played it in YEARS. I also do not agree with warthunder BR rating just have aircraft that fought against each other fighting against each other. They will be good but only in a specific range. The speed on the American aircraft is fantastic but when the Germans have got the F4 and the Japanese have the Raidan it’s gonna even out. In any type of knife fight the US will lose the advantage so I think it will depend on the mode. Long form modes will lend themselves to the US for sure. High altitude as well

It's not out. The only reason it's not going to Xbox is the lack of Xbox VR, PS has VR and of course PC does, why release a VR only game on a console with no VR
I think they might fill a gap which IL-2: BoX is leaving open. BoX has become rather old by now and it won't get any major updates or expansions anymore. The devs announced Korea as their next project instead. So Aces of Thunder could right jump in between War Thunder and DCS, having enough sim experience in it, without stressing the players with too much with technical stuff.
They've already said on discord they're continuing working on it. Also I promise you this game won't be anywhere near the flight realism of IL2 or DCS.
I mean... We have War Thunder, it has VR and shitton of planes. This will only be a game for those who don't have a collection within War Thunder (and WT also houses a crapton of singleplayer content so not even that matters) and if you actually want a WW2 sim IL2 runs circles around WT and then DCS adds engine management minus damage model, that is crap there.
