My mother had this car is a metalflake dark blue that was gorgeous. It was so big inside it would sit mom, dad and us three kiddos in the backseat with room to spare. I will always remember the style, elegance and raw power of this behemoth. The hood alone was about 6feet long. Good times!
I ALWAYS loved this particular year Monte Carlo. My uncle owed one, that he bought brand new in late 76. It was triple red, with the 350 engine. It was a real head turner back in the day.
In 1980 I was 20 years old, the 1977 Monte Carlo was my all-time favorite car. I bought this car for just over $8000 which was a lot of money but to me it was worth it it was called triple black black exterior leather black interiors And black vinyl roof power everywhere it was gorgeous. The only problem I met a girl and when she found out that I love that car more than her she made sure that I would never love that car again I was heartbroken I always wanted to replace it never had the opportunity or the money to do it but I remember that beauty
You should never got rid of the car, should hid the car or like @mzaccagnini7179 got rid of her just saying , my wife kind of feels the same way 😂and there both still here so there both fighters i have a 77 that was my grandparents car, so yea tht car will never leave me
I am looking at this video on 8/25/23. And I know this 77 Monte Carlo is long gone. The prices of classic cars are thru the roof now days. This one for $11,000 and the condition it appears to be in seems well worth it. Everything working except the AM/FM 8 track, which I would replace ASAP, the rally wheels, swivel bucket seats and a console are hitting all the bells for me. The driver seat and head liner replacement would make this a perfect driver a few days a week to work, and weekend car shows. And I would have them fix the roof weld Pop ! Stuff like this is giving me hope that I can still afford a nice classic car, I would like, from my youth with out spending over $50,000 !!!
I remember these well. My brother-in-law bought a new M C (burgandy with a white vinyl roof) in 977. Smooth and quiet. I chuckle at you "young guys" who panic with amazement that a car doesn't have power windows. Until the early 2000s power windows were very RARE. Except for luxury vehicles (Cadillacs, Buick Electra 225s, etc) power windows were seldom seen or desired.
Yep my high school car,1974 landau 350 4barrel antique white with black vinyl top, inside black swivel seats, console, tilt, power windows/locks cruise. As for tires I pulled the rally added air shocks with chrome creigers with deep dish (60's) rears. Man I wish I could find another one. Would be priceless to me Nice video tho!! Thank you for the time memories
Love this Monte Carlo my grandfather had the same color my dad had a sky blue one my both my dad and my grandfather paid 5500 bucks for thise cars back then
Im so glad i got my grandparents 77 Monte , cause i used to take it everywhere out of town and i would always get people giving me a 👍🏼 up and this was back in the late 90’s to early 2000’s love my car and i still have it✌🏼 great video John👍🏼✌🏼
1977 would be a VERY confusing year for GM's full-size & intermediate cars, like the Monte Carlo shown here, as the downsizing of the full-size cars brought them down to exactly the same size as the intermediates. The 1973-1977 General Motors Colonnade coupes were already breathtakingly beautiful to begin with, but there is just SOMETHING about a Grand Prix or Monte Carlo that does things to me that would make me violate UA-cam's Community Standards/Terms of Service if I were to post them here!!!!!
My all time fav!! My stepfather had one and he was giving it to me after I got out of basic training. Upgraded to a 400 block, and man did I love driving it. Graduated and went to the basic and my brother totaled it in less than 9 weeks. Been trying to find one every since. Very nice and would love to find one in that great of shape.
Custom fiberglassing some ground effects for my 73. 468 baby roller, 9" custom rear tubular. As well as tubular fronts. More traditional front spoiler. And an 80s ss rear spoiler. Tucked bumper as well. And custom grill! Cant wait to see how she turns out! Thanks! Stole some inspiration from this beaut. Check out my community tab for some pics!
I have a '76 Monte and my dad has a '78 Cordoba. I've razzed him about how his car is a rip-off of mine. Good-naturedly, of course. It's a beautiful rip-off.😄😄
Bought one new in July of 77. It was silver with black cloth interior. Mine had the week 305 engine. With the air conditioning on it had a hard time getting out of its own way. A 350 would have been a much better choice. Other than the week 305 engine, the car rode extremely well and was quite going down the road. I never drove it in the winter and was garage kept until I sold it back in 1998 for 5000 dollars. It had 35,000 miles on it. Sense it was driven so little the last 5 years, the seals in the transmission started to leak. The buyer didn't seem to care, he intended to drop a big block into the engine bay and a turbo 400 automatic transmission. I never saw the car after I sold it, so I am not sure what the new owner actually did with it. If I remember correctly, the car listed for around 6400 dollars. If I could have a dream car, it would be a 1970 SS 454 LS6 Chevelle with a four speed. Now, those were the days of great cars right from the factory. My older brother bought a new 1970 SS Chevelle 454 LS5 with a four speed. It was cranberry red with black bucket seats and console. He wanted a LS6 so badly, but none were available when he bought his in July of 1970. It was a beautiful car. I can remember going with my brother to the dealership into the parts department. On the wall behind the counter was a sigh stating that a Cheverolet 454 LS6 crate engine could be purchased for 1100 dollars. My brother was planning on making the engine change, but his Chevelle was stolen from the GM plant parking lot he was working at. The sad part of it was, he just made his last payment just before it was stollen. Weeks later, it was found in Detroit and the whole front clip was gone. Engine and trans were gone too. He was devastated to say the least. Yes, if I had my choice of any car, it would be a numbers matching 1970 LS6 Chevelle with a four speed.
The 73 to 77 were the best. In 78 they killed them. Then they sort of came back in the mid 80s. Then they went to t front wheel drive and that was the end.
I have one now that my dad got me in 77 a white on white landau with the white seat and red accent load I couldn’t believe it what my dad did of getting one brand new in 1977 year
My brother William had a Montey Carlo convertible, great car ! But in those days the industry was'nt concerned with airodynamics. Front end styling was straight up causing an aeir ballast that would work AGAINST the spreed horsepower
I've seen a custom built 3rd gen Monte convertible in Indianapolis. Tommy Lee from Motley Crue has a 1st gen convertible Monte. But I've never seen a second gen convertible and Chevy never made any gen Monte convertible available to the public. I believe there aren't any 2nd gens because of the shape of the back window. Maybe your brother had a Chevelle or Cutlass?
Much better w/o the bodyside molding and the whole design suffered (rather badly) post-75 when it lost the single headlamps and went with the then en vogue vertical stacked (everyone was doing that on mid-size stuff - so 'modern' - blech). The Monte only became a T bird competitor post 77 when the Thunderbird was repositioned, and while the Monte did outsell the new 'Bird, it was about 410k units vs 320k - they were both very, very popular. Interestingly, the T-bird pulled almost even with the downsized 78 Monte. Normally I think your prices are pretty good, here, not so sure; maybe it does reflect the nostalgia factor or the repaint, but too many flaws for 12k in my quite possibly misguided opinion.
this is excatley the same 77 i had with the 350 4 bbl same color inside and out with the swivel bucket seats and had the landau roof same color i wish i never gave up that car it was in mint shape when i traded it in 10 years later and it was not beat on I'd trade my 06 gto for it where is this place
The G body’s were even a bigger success, the last great passenger car GM made was the rear wheel drive 2014 Chevy SS,,,,GM no longer sales cars they discontinued the Impala , Cruze and now the Malibu and Camaro,,,,, I’ve been a Chevy guy my entire life,,,all they have now is pickup trucks! I don’t even like the C8s,,,,I own my C5 , C6 Z06, 02 Silverado I bought new, and my 2023 Colorado Trail boss that I payed off only has 4K miles on it,,,,,,,GM is basically trash now 😢 they would be so successful if they brought back all these cars
My mother had this car is a metalflake dark blue that was gorgeous. It was so big inside it would sit mom, dad and us three kiddos in the backseat with room to spare. I will always remember the style, elegance and raw power of this behemoth. The hood alone was about 6feet long. Good times!

My Gramma rode me around in this Model ❤ Triple Black . I miss her an those rides. Nothing beats a classic.
Agreed!
I ALWAYS loved this particular year Monte Carlo. My uncle owed one, that he bought brand new in late 76. It was triple red, with the 350 engine. It was a real head turner back in the day.
I still have dreams of my 77 Monte
I had a 1976 and my brother had a 1977 Monte Carlo.
Great cars; We had a 76, small 8 vinyl top. Great car!
Absolute beautiful classic.

I love the sound of tge seabelt buzzer brings back nostalgia when I was a kid love the swivel bucket seats

You are so right.
I am in love with the 73-77 Chevelle Malibu .😊

I know someone with one for 15000 looks great!
gorgeous! 👍👍👍
Those things ride so smooth on any road. Make really good dirt track cars
.
Its missing the molding around the Landau windows.
This car was born with a landau roof. Was removed at repaint.
I understand.

Nice car John. Those cars ride nice.
Cheers 🇨🇦
Thanks 👍
Back in 85 I had a 77 And a 76 after I wrapped my 77 around a tree.
This is the last of the collinade coupes then in 78 they downsized the entire line up
1977 was the Best Monte Carlo.
In my opinion 1971 was the peak but the 1977 is pretty cool
This car was the bomb in 77. This is the car everyone wanted. Actually was competion to the Chrysler Cordoba. Beautiful car.

You are right. That 305 was not a good thing for that size car.
The 73 to 77 were the best. In 78 they killed them. Then they sort of came back in the mid 80s. Then they went to t front wheel drive and that was the end.
My homeboy the exact car for 500.00 in 1990. We used to roll in the MC.
My '76 had a 400 quadrojet with corvette rally wheels. One of my best cars, ever. Around $7200 new.
I owned a 76 with a landau top. I like the hardtop a lot better. Beautiful car
I have one now that my dad got me in 77 a white on white landau with the white seat and red accent load I couldn’t believe it what my dad did of getting one brand new in 1977 year
Very nice monte. I have a 76 myself. Same body style. What oil grade did you use for the oil change?
I believe we used Castrol 10W-30
@orphancargarage5746 thank you. The owner I bought it from used 0w-30. Would you suggest keeping that grade or switching to the 10w-30?
That's the only way to have it with the swivel bucket seats and console and rally wheels.
My brother William had a Montey Carlo convertible, great car ! But in those days the industry was'nt concerned with airodynamics. Front end styling was straight up causing an aeir ballast that would work AGAINST the spreed horsepower

Love the slick top. 305? Oh no. No no no. Thank god for AC PW.
Really wish I didn’t live in California right now!
It also has aftermarket, dealer installed air conditioning.
The last of of the big ones

i want this car so bad :(
My guess is original miles, just by the way the car looks overall.
😍❤💯👍

Yeah the wheels do make or break the car and those rims and wide white wall do NOT make that car.
I have cash where is this car
