Another tip: if you find a cool song you like, give the whole album it's on a listen. This works best with older albums but it will make you discover songs that you didn't like right away, those have become some of my favourite songs of all time
People need that one friend who has all the obscure EPs and all the drugs
Great video! Three other ways I would recommend improving one's music taste:
1. The RateYourMusic top albums of all time list is a good starting place. It's full of really high-quality music you probably haven't heard on TikTok or the radio. It's great for expanding into new genres you otherwise wouldn't explore.
2. Consume music content. There are plenty of videos of people recommending their favorite albums/songs, and not to mention reviews.
3. Go to concerts! Whatever band you like probably is playing with other bands that have amazing music. Not just big concerts, either. Any medium-sized city usually has at least some music scene. Ever since discovering my local hardcore scene, my tastes have greatly evolved to appreciate the genre and very niche artists.
Basically listen to every genre and see what you like the most, then the genre you like the most try subgenres of it, and walla you got it.

So the key to improving your music taste is to simply to expand your current genre by finding more music in the category you enjoy, or branch out to other genre's and find music that interests you. Ngl, thought this video was going to be a video that tells you to listen to a certain genre of music if you want to "improve" your music taste. Well I'm wrong so that's good.

Awesome video! You're underrated af. I don't know your statistics, but I feel like this video could get a way higher CTR with a different title & thumbnail because, with your current title, you only attract people who are already open to improving their music taste. It would probably be better to also call out the people who don't necessarily think that they need a better music taste. For example, by using a title like: "Why Your Music Taste SUCKS" or "Your Music Taste probably SUCKS...". This way you also get people intrigued, who think that they already have a decent music taste because you make the bold claim that they might be wrong about their music taste.
I would also make the text in the thumbnail bigger and either make the icons smaller or remove them entirely because, when someone looks just at the thumbnail without reading the small text at the bottom, he doesn't really know what the video is about and will probably not be bothered to read the title. Not trying to be mean or anything, but I think by improving your video packaging, you would probably get a lot more views

Listen to Hardcore/Hardstyle to instantly improve your music listening skills. This genre has some fire artists and also some really trash ones so listen to a bunch of songs before you diss the genre.
Team Grimoire and Laur are the legends of Gothic Hardcore. I definitely recommend taking a listen to it.
It was. I mean if you listened to this genre in 2009-2012 or 2017-2018, there were a lot of good artists with distinct styles. We still have some good artists now, but for the most part they all have the same style and same sound.

i think that another good way of exapnding ur music taste is also trying to look forward into a genre you found interesting, regardless if it's nu-metal, electropowerpop, trancecore or whatever else. if you heard one, two, three songs or more and actually enjoy the sound, searching a playlist under that specific subgenre/genre is a good way

I build a Spotify playlist with a few songs I like, then go through and preview all of the suggestions it gives me. Any preview that sounds intriguing gets added to the playlist. I refresh it a few times to get more previews, and then I have a playlist full of songs I've never heard before but will probably like. Usually the playlists Spotify makes for me kinda miss the mark, or are mostly songs I already have, so I do this when I want to hear a lot of new music at one.
I purely listens to underground metal, and the "Discover weekly" playlist really helped me to find more bands, and they're amazing!
New tip: assuming you have a record player, go to your local record store and just buy albums covers that peaks your interest. It doesn’t matter the genre or artist either. At worst you now own a physical copy of it that you can give to a friend. At best, it will last you a lifetime.
heres an easy way to at least double your catalog: just start playing a lot of rhythm games, mobile, arcade and desktop alike, you'll get super into like a hundred edm subgenres while having fun with it

What I do is listen to the BBC Radio 1 stations on the BBC Sounds app (I'm outside the UK). They really know how to find and share the best new music.

I recommend getting into metal and it's sub genres like check out acid bath,snuffed on sight,eyehategod,exodus,peeling flesh, guttural slug and some shoegaze such as fleshwater,Julie,whirr,glare,narrow head and title fight (not shoegaze) and check out some hardcore such as sunami,drain,xweaponx,year of the knife,knocked loose
