I have recently bought for myself an Icom IC-9700, and was wondering how best to set the radio up. Just like you I had a dual band antenna and didn't have room for another antenna for 23cm, so needed a try-band antenna. - I have gone for the same set up as you, same; antenna, triplexer, coax, and connectors. This is because, you've chosen quality equipment, also because you, with the help of your friend, tested it all with a spectrum analyzer and proved it to be a good set up. - Thanks to you and your friend for doing the hard work!

I use mine for FM and also for reaching out around 40 miles to my nearest D-Star repeater with my 9700.

I am using the Diamond X6000A triband antenna and MX3000 Diamond triplexer. It is 20 feet at base having about 4 feet below the highest roofline and 6+ feet over the roofline. Great performance for about 30 miles of local repeaters. Looking to move it up higher to 100 percent above the roofline soon. Mike N6IMY

Salut Pascal, bonne vidéo ! J’utilise du RG-11 de Belden (déformation professionnelle) avec les connecteurs PPC et des adapteurs F-Pl-259. Ça fonctionne très bien en HF. En VHF-UHF il faut parfois « trimer » la longueur un peu pour pour ajuster le ROS mais ça se fait bien avec les outils pour les connecteurs. La perte est très proche du LMR-400.
Thank you for a great video Pascal. I've been trying to decide between a Comet GP95, Comet GP98 or a Diamond X6000 for my IC-9700. At present I've been using two antennas, a Comet GP3 and a Comet GP6 for 2 meter and 70 centimeter, with nothing for 23 centimeters. I've had good luck with Comets in the past, so I had only been looking at them, but after seeing your video, now I'm considering a Diamond X6000 with the triplexer.
In my opinion, the quality of the Comet and Diamond antennas are very similar. I believe they are the same company now? To be confirmed. 73 Pascal VA2PV
I have ordered one of these Pascal, for my 9700 as well. Hey, love the videos. Can you tell me how to pronounce Laboenligne or what it means? I am having a hard time trying to figure it out. I had dinner at the Yaesu dinner with one of your good friends last year, he knows you well.., and he pronounced it right away but I forgot how HAHAHA.. Thanks
Hi Eric, thank you. Pierre told me he met you at the event last year, he’s also a French Canadian. Laboenligne in English mean “online lab”, in French it’s three words to say the same thing, “Labo” (short for laboratory) “en” (for the on… in English) and “ligne” for the “…line”. You can type in “labo en ligne” in google translate and select French, click on the speaker and you will ear the correct way to say it, I check it out and it comes out perfectly. Very nice. I use a tri band comet antenna and LMR 600 Ultra flex. I use an icom-ID 1 for my 1.2Ghz radio on my antenna tho. and VHF UHF Kenwood 5700 and 5800 .
If your radio only has one input why do you need a triplexer, I thought this is only for connecting multiple radios to one antenna? Looking at getting the v2000 for my IC-705.
only has room for 1 antenna, but installed it on his tower that already had at least 2 antennas on it? looked like a 50 or 60 ft tower? Can put several antennas on that with side arms. Jus sayin.

Je me cherche un triplexer pour relier une antenne dual band X-300 Diamond mais je dois la relier à 2 transceivers VHF/UHF et un scanner mobile tous les 3 dans ma demeure. Est ce que qu’un triplexer Comet avec prise femelle ferait la job pour mes besoins. Merci Pascal et toujours intéressant d’écouter tes vidéos.

Some time ago I had purchased a used
Yaesu FT-736 multi band VHF-UHF
transceiver from a dealer for $1800.00,
US, with 144, 220, 432, and 1296 MHz.
I had a tri- band Diamond. I think it was a X-3200A, with 3 bands, but no 23cm.
It had 10 watts output on that band's
module, and I had one SSB QSO with
a nearby mountaintop during a VHF-
UHF Contest, so I know it worked.
However, I didn't have a very low loss
coax then, and the antenna was not
a close match for 23cm, so this did
limit my QSO's on the 23cm band.
Don't ever sell that radio man. Those things are damned near the best 145/435/1296 MHz rigs ever made.
how do you do other bands please then with a triplexer as the radio is all mode
