This sound track is so fucking beautiful! No lie, I can't fall asleep without this playing, don't even know why but it just makes me feel so at peace....
Funny story though, I took this, some of my other warfare sleep tracks, and my speaker with me to a recent summer camp. The first track was my heavy rain and distant WWI artillery, counselor and my bunk mates thought it was just thunder so they thought it was cool and told me to keep it on all night. First hour in, I'm not asleep yet, as I don't usually fall asleep until the second track plays (2nd hour) which is my "all hell break loose" track, pretty much everyone except me is asleep in the room and all of a sudden; *"RATTAT RATTATTATAT, BOOM, RATATAT"* woke everyone in the room and they were like, wtf... Long story short, from then on I had to keep the speaker on low and next to my bunk.
Anyways, thanks for the badass track to fall asleep to.

Love to hear the impact of heavy shells in the far distance.
This reminds me of a cold night, in the Ardenne (Battle of the Bulge), were the battle is raging.
At some moments, you can even hear shells flying trough the air when fired.

    They fired life rounds.

When I visited Germany as a Tourist, back in 2012, we accidentally were staying right next to the Bundeswehrs biggest training ranges, and could hear explosions nearby first thing in the morning, when a family member of mine told the staff of the park that we can hear explosions going off nearby he got told in the best German accent '' Yes, we know this'' lol I never laughed so much.. and remember it till this day, and will say this saying, when ever somebody mentions something really obvious from this point on wards but hearing that so close does make you think about the realities of War, and what it could be like, by the sounds of it the Germans are preparing for any eventuality and are Well Prepared.

And I'm trying to stay historically accurate, but I'm also being creative.
    (starts at 0:00 )
    September 22nd, 1943
    (inner monologues)
"The wind was blowing calmly through the tall grasses and the trees. My comrades and I, of the 10th Panzergrenadier Division, have been ordered to hold this point until called upon. We hear naught but the silence. No sound of birds or beasts but out own breathing and dimmed chatter. In the far distance we can hear the war raging on; the rattling of machine guns, the deep thumping of artillery pieces firing and the rumbling of the shells exploding. The smoke is the only other indication of where the fight is. Other than that, it is strangely peaceful. The wind is merely blowing calmly through the tall grasses and trees. And me and my comrades? I think we all quietly pray the war will be over soon."

Imagine you are the driver of a Jagdpanzer, stationed in Ukraine in 1943. You and your crew haven’t seen much combat, and you are all still together, since the start of Barbarossa. The sun has gone down on a warm August night, giving way to a sky full of stars. It is pitch black around you. Leaves swinging in the wind, crickets serenading. It’s slowly getting colder, but not in your tank. Light shines through the open commanders hatch. You are greeted by cigarsmoke and laughter as your lads are playing cards. The radio is playing some melancholic piano music. Pictures of homes and familymembers fill the otherwise white outer walls of the crew compartment. A kit of tableware is tucked in an empty ammunition store; helmets hang sorted by name on a makeshift coat rack. You decline an invitation to the cardgame, and slowly fall asleep to distant artillery fire. This tank is not just a fighting machine, it is your home.

    • @dreadpiraterobertsii4420

That’s actually kinda soothing to think about always i always imagined tanks filled with diesel, smoke, mud dragged in from the bottom of men’s boots, the constant fear knowing that if your tank is hit you have less than a moment to climb out the tiny hatch’s or ammo hatch, the highly explosive ammunition sitting foreboding! will that ammunition be fired at t-34s protecting your Wehrmacht brothers or will it be hit “cooking off” frying you and your comrades in a moment. The tiny skits and periscopes only giving you a tiny glimpse of the battle field maybe even blinding you to a full armoured escort directly behind you. The thought of being captured by the Soviets and being sent to a gulag or worse yet shot in a ditch in a mass grave.
