Going there for 6 days later this summer! Is there anything cool happening there between 5-11 august? We are a young couple. How is the nightlife during this period?
@@bart170 In August will be pretty hot for sure, I would definitely stay as much as possible near the beach during the day, in la playa de la Victoria one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe for sure. Playa de Cortadura is never overcrowded if you mind the crowd. For nightlife you will find plenty of options in the old town (la Punta de San Felipe comes to mind, or some places around Plaza San Francisco and Plaza de Mina, but if you are stayin in the new town you can also find good clubs and pubs by the beach promanade. For events, concerts, and other cultural stuff you can go to the tourist office in Plaza de San Juan de Diós or by the harbor in Canalejas, also nearby ,and stay informed by the friendly assistant there.
Cadiz is one of my most favourite places on the planet. There is something magical about the place and food is amazing. Wonderful video and great history lesson.
I went to Cadiz last May as soon as they opened the borders in Spain. It was amazing to see the city somewhat vibrant again yet be one of the few tourists at the time. Gaditanos (people from Cádiz) might be the absolute friendliest people in Spain. Lastly, Cádiz is particularly interesting not only because it’s the oldest city in the western world, but because it has rich history that connects the Americas to Europe. Absolutely fascinating for someone who loves history in not only Spain but the entire Spanish-speaking world. Un saludo a los dos.
Hi what is the nxt City or nearest Airport in Cadiz? I am from Germany it is my first time hearing this Place and i didn't know anyone who already visited tjis Place and wanted to see it nxt year Spring..
I was in Cadiz 2 weeks ago enjoying a walk through the historical center and ran into Yoli(and Lucía)!! Yoli is just as welcoming and cheerful in person as in the videos :) The experience put the cherry on top to a wonderful weekend trip. This video should be taken very seriously: do NOT skip Cadiz!
Usted debería ser nominado eres un embajador de España, lo emocionante que eres contando las historias españolas, gracias eres fantastico y tu esposa, un canario,
When I was a student there in 1970, we stayed at a school I think called "Colegio Mayor", with a Padre Bilbao who was in charge. The address they gave us to say if we got lost was "Lopez Pinto Ochentaydos". I've tried to find it on Google Maps, but no luck. It was very close to the beach. Also, I remember going to a restaurant/bar called the Lighthouse where Christopher Columbus used to hang out. We sat in a booth that extended out into a small balcony and we drank pitchers of sangria. The waiters told us not to move around because the balcony was very old and we might cause it to break off, ending in our deaths. A great way to deal with American teenagers, some drinking for our possibly first times!
Can’t wait to be in Spain.,My husband lived in Toledo for 8 years and now he wants to move back!! So excited to see the smile he gets when we talk about the move!!
I am from León but I live in the USA... I watch these videos because it alleviates my "morriña" about my beautiful country....I appreciate how respectful and enthusiastic you are about Spain and other cultures...I thank you for bringing so much beauty to the camera for us all to enjoy...Many blessings and congratulations with your new addition to the family...You have a beautiful daughter......I am not sure if the baby is a female...but I am sure how of beautiful she/he is...

I lived in Europe for 8 years, Italy, Germany and Turkey. And traveled extensively, but to my utter astonishment, never got to Spain! I plan to rectify that later this year or early next year for a couple months of exploration. I've been watching your videos now for a year and normally, I hate videos where couples explore cities, because the videos seem to be more about the couple and less about the area of interest. The reason I like your videos so much is you focus on the region/city/area, but the two of you are so damned likable that you enhance the video rather than detract from it. Oh, and congratulations on the birth of your child. Keep'em coming. (Videos and/or children....)
Guys, I could not enjoy your video more, the enthusiasm is palpable all along, shots are incredible and the historical facts that you share make it so special. Thanks a million :)
Thanks for a great video and a reminder that you have to look up to truly appreciate a place. I'm not a great fan of cities, especially tourist hot spots, but found Cadiz not only beautiful and interesting but relaxed, unpretentious and welcoming, with a very homely feeling. The fish market is worth a visit to see the incredible variety on display. If you want to live in a Spanish city I doubt you could do better than Cadiz.
One of the main reason that I became a fan of your channel has to do the attention you give to historical sites and the information related to it. This is hugely fascinating to me and it has opened my eyes to Cadiz than ever before. I keep trying to figure out which location will be the first place that I will visit outside of living in Valencia and now Cadiz, along with Toledo, have become the top spots for a visit. Thank you for another great video!
Cadiz is also the birthplace of Spanish constitutioanlism. Sitting in a small parish, the wrtiers of the 1812 constitution drafted this foundational document, which spoke of the Spanish territories throughout the world -from Alaska to Patagonia in the West and the Philippines in the east- whilst surrounded by French canons and troops.
I now live in a tiny town in Ohio, and it's named Cadiz, after the city in Spain. Being curious, I found this video and enjoyed it. Thank you for showing the beautiful city and its history. I'll never be able to visit, but you brought it to life. Thank you!
Hola there! I hope I am not too late to discover this channel. I just moved from Thailand to Spain for a month and still need some guides of living here then I finally found you guys. Just come to say hi and thank you for your sharing Spain/Spanish things, they are so useful for me and I am looking forward for many more VLOGs from you! Muchas gracias🙏🏻
When I went to Spain, Andalusia area in late 2019, I visited many many villages and neighborhoods but I was short on time. Cadiz was on our sights, but we just never went there. It's definitely on my list of "first" location to see. Thank you for showing me what I missed.
Hey! I am glad you loved so much my home town. I think you did a good job of reading the city and taking its long and fascinating history inside you. Best of luck in your travels. It is a pity that for most people born and brought up there, there are so few jobs and economic activity is quite depressed so it is just a dream to return.
I knew it was a beautiful city as I got turned around there once driving from Seville to Tarifa, but I had no idea of the magnitude of history and beauty. Putting Cadiz high on my list.
Hey, y'all. I just returned to the U.S. from two weeks in Spain. We stayed in Estepona but I took your advice and convinced the family to let me take a solo day trip to Cadiz. LOVED it - one of my favorite cities I ever visited. So big thanks for the recommendation.
This is amazing to see what my ancestors did and what they established so thank you for these videos. I am from California so very little is taught to the children about the Spanish contributions except NEGATIVE information. Maybe this stems from the Protestants who came here from England long ago who had a long history and being the enemy of Spain. However there is a constant bashing of the Spanish culture continues today especially in California. They constantly berate the Spanish contribution and focus only on the negative while ignoring the English etc.. It is ok you don't have to do air quotes for Columbus discovering the Americas he was the first documented European to discover the New World. The trend to rewrite history on a narrative that was built on bigotry of the English and later Americans who hated the Spanish and the Catholics continues even today. Columbus is also my ancestor so I am not ashamed of his contribution to the New World, I am proud of it. I do not need to apply modern values of our era to people of that era for absolution. I am VERY proud of my Spanish language, ancestors and CULTURE. This is why I like your videos I literally puff up with pride so thank you very much for the beautiful videos. :D
Great video. I've left Spain many times in the past without seeing Cadiz as there were so many other interesting places to visit. However, now I am retired, permanently resident in Spain, and have more time, I hope to do so later this year. As to moving there, would be great, but a bit too remote for convenient travel. I prefer Valencia.
Hey guys, I just want to say thanks for all the videos you 2 put out. I enjoy each and every one of them. I've been to spain and only had great times, watching your videos gives a nostalgic feeling that I keep comming back for without actually being there. Hopefully I can come back soon in the future.

Great video, thank you very much! I learned something new about one of my favorite cities of Spain: the story about the river stones from the Americas, wow!
Visited Cadiz in mid April , saw the beautiful interior of it's Cathedral. Seven Euros entrance fee was worth the visit. The food was delicious at a local restaurant. Love to watch your videos.
You've got to be the best Spain dedicated channel on UA-cam, I love how you break down the history, I hope you make a video on Alicante somewhere in the future, lots of history, old barrios and amazing architecture there too, cheers!!
I was planning on six weeks in Spain for six weeks -had all the reservations and the plane tickets - in March 2020 -with Cadiz as my base. You know what happened. Still hoping to come...
Hi James and Yoly, I am one of your subscribers. You guys are great! Your videos are always so informative, engaging, and entertaining. I always enjoy watching them. I also have lived in New Zealand for a short period of time and so I love how James compares the two countries and cultures sometimes. I can relate to it! And I totally agree, as you’ve mentioned several times in your videos, one would have a much richer experience visiting Spain as well as better understanding and appreciation of the Spanish culture if one could speak the local language. I live in the United States and I am learning Castellano right now and studying Spanish culture as much as I can. Your videos help me tremendously! But I am thinking, it would be so great if you could make some of your videos in Castellano! Any plans for it? I believe it would be so attractive to many people who want to move to Spain or even just to visit it, like myself! I’ve watched many different UA-cam channels created by local Spanish folks but most of them lack dialogues and most of the time they represent a point of view of just one person. You are another story! You always relay your stories from two separate points of view. You talk to and introduce local people and that make me always feel like I am right there, it helps me to immerse, so to say. What do you think about making some videos in Castellano? Thank you very much once again! Alexander
The shape of Cádiz reminds me of Alexandria, Egypt - it even had a tall lighthouse near the castle. Also people say it looks like Havana, Cuba. I hope one day visit this marvellous city - regards from Corfu, Greece!
I haven't been to Havanna, or Cadiz, just yet, but looking at the video it also has some Palermo vibes to it as well (the colours, some of the architecture and the sea). Palermos space and architecture can feel a bit closed and heavy too at times though, and i wonder if Cadiz feels less heavy and more open. I guess i have to visit to Find out out. ;)
We definitely have to make it to Cadiz now! It's a city we've never visited after collectively living in Spain for about 3 years...🤦🏼♂🤦🏽♀ This is a fantastic video that makes us want to get there ASAP. You do such an outstanding job showcasing the beauty and history of Cadiz and all of Spain. As always, can't wait for the next video!
Yoly DON'T HATE ME, but I haven't been to Cádiz yet 🙈 In my defense, I'm glad I waited for this video because now I have recommendations from you guys to fully enjoy and appreciate the city! I have to say that I am loving the mix in format with some historical tours with James and the cute banter with the two of you (LOL at the kiss part). Great video as always! See you guys at the next Member's Live :)
Cadiz was the 1st holiday place i visited in my 1st year living in Madrid back in Jan 2007! i even remember lying on the beach in Puerta santa maria on 5th Jan!! Yes cadiz was really nice, to the point of being very friendly. i was alone for a few days. Anyway i found myself in a tapas bar in Cadiz ordered a drink, next minute i found myself talking to a large group of very socialable spaniards!!! from 4 or 5 different spanish places. Something similar happened to me in Seville´s old town. great memories!!
Nice for a holiday for sure. Unbelievably big blue skies and a cultural heart of flamenco and all things Andulician. I prefer inland a bit or smaller towns along the coast, including going over to Portugal. Cádiz has its charm for sure, but to live there may have some significant challenges - unless you can be "enchufado", of course!
Great work. I've got a feeling you'd love Havana. Cádiz reminded me a lot about Havana with its decadent buildings eroded by the sea and the 🌞 Hope to make it to Cádiz sooner rather than later
I was there three days before you filmed this and it was mostly raining, but I had been there in the 90s and knew I wanted to see it again. I may return in the fall!
I’d like to write more….from Dunedin NZ. I absolutely agree about the utter magnificence of Cadiz, I fell in love with the place when first visited it with family during Semana Santa few years ago. Strangely it reminds me of Dunedin, picked up and relocated on top of 4000 year history on a Mediterranean isthmus. Is that similar? Finally possible for NZers to get back into the country….or in our case get to Spain and get back into NZ again.

Visiting Cadiz in May 2022…looking forward!
what a lovely couple! great video! and we will be in Cadiz soon too! happy traveling!
Beautiful Cathedral and history. Spain has so much amazing Catholic history and traditions.
Yoly forgives you Miriam! Glad you're enjoying the formats!
There are millions of Pohutakawa trees in Galicia, especially A Coruña I think
So looking forward to visiting Cadiz in May. Your video has given me so many ideas of places to visit.
Great video man, this kind is the ones I most enjoy.
Thanks Mike!
Dear lord, I miss this place. Excellent video.
Cheers Daniel!
nice vid... I'l check the place myself one day
Thank you for a different approach on Cadiz, this beautiful city definitely has much history!
Cadiz is amazingly beautiful! Thank you so much for making this video!
Que arte tenéis!!! Me encanta!!!
Cracking city. Visited over Christmas, great vibe, friendly people. Will certainly return :)
Great tour! Thanks, James & Yoli!
Thank you!
Going to spain in September. Now I really want to go cadiz. Wow 3000 years people lived there….
We were on a cruise at Christmas and managed to have 2 days in Cadiz, a beautiful place, I would love to visit for longer.
Love Spain, love this channel.
Excellent tour/commentary~! Thank you! What a gift.
It is the best video ever when you are in quarantine. Thank you so much!

Mi lugar favorito en España ☺️
Wonderful! Long time didn't see you. The baby must be gorgeous like the parents. Congratulations !
El fuerte de Cádiz se parece mucho al morro en Puerto Rico
Such a beautiful City, hope to visit Spain before before I fall off the perch...
I was there three days before you filmed this and it was mostly raining, but I had been there in the 90s and knew I wanted to see it again. I may return in the fall!
Your videos always make me want to move to Spain, then reality sets in 😔
I’d like to write more….from Dunedin NZ.
Awesome and Cadiz is now on my list. Thanks for a great video. Lovely family 💕
