    Kevlar & titanium has been used in other sports for sometime. They have more tensile elongation meaning they stretch more than rigid carbon. Hence the "softness" they add when combined with carbon. But their elongation is limited meaning it will only stretch just a tad & stop. This provides the dynamic feel people have grown to love - soft when dinking but hard when driving!
    Kevlar or aramid fiber is quite unique. Its one of the stiffest fibers & absorbs shock very well. This is the reason it can catch bullets & adds comfort for senstive arms. The slight softness of padfle face also contributes to better spin as the ball sinking into the paddle face results in more mechanical friction as opposed to just surface friction!

    Really it should be simple. You could create a machine that hits with a certain amount of force and if it hits the ball faster than that speed or set determined speed then it’s outlawed they need to put specific guidelines in place and then let manufactures develop around that.

    The power was not what got Gen 3 de-listed. They got banned due to administration error. (The wrong paddles were submitted, the Gen 3 alpha paddles.) The Mod TA-15 came from the Gen 3 alpha paddle which were approved from that submission. That explains why Mod TA-15 is approved and is essentially the same paddle as a Gen 3.

    Awesome explanations. I've played everything now except the TI/Carbon face sheet. Waiting for some feedback from other reviewers before pulling the trigger.
    As for foam, I use the GB Pro Pwr E, and even some "non-approved" EVA models. My concern is with foam adhesion to other material. How will it last over time and impact, being "bonded" to Carbon or Polypro?? Hear that Nexus?

    The way Pickleball business is set up, there's too much focus on new paddles and market advantage. Sports should be about skills, technique, fun and joy. Buying the best paddle to whack your way through comp should be discouraged, like other major sports a certain equipment should not be about significant skill advantage. Soccer doesn't have boots that make you kick better than other.

      This is such a weird take, you telling me they have never nor currently actively look to make new advances in the materials used in cleats? Shin guards? Even things like grip socks? Carbon fiber sole inserts?! Come off it, man. People will always try new things to get their most efficient version of themselves in sports; especially in competitive settings.

    • @IshKashi
      @IshKashi 5 місяців тому +1

      @@scottlyman7395 Classic, You are comparing Apple and Oranges. Every sports limits scope of technology on equipment that significantly enhances a players skills or abilities. For example in running super critical foams are prohibited in sneakers, so are carbon shanks. Bats have a very stringent specification and uses fairly basic tech. Soccer doesn't have shoes that makes player run faster. So, the debate is not around prohibiting tech advancement, but what substantially inflates ability over natural skill development. Go on build technique and muscles and whack that ball hard and it's fair enough. But currently in Pickleball, you can just buy yourselves power and spin with dollar. So to simplify for you, it's not that tech is being used, but more so where and how it's being used. There's so much these companies can work on before adding raw power. We are not even talking about recycling etc.

      I mean, technique and athleticism have a direct correlation to your skill rating, but I do not mind having a few percentages of an advantage from technology. You wanna talk about pay to play? Golf is insane. It’s so hard to be good without spending money on good equipment, or a custom fitting.

    The game is not about the paddle. I've never been one of these people who secretly wish pickleball was more like tennis. The paddle is a tool. Playability is great, especially if it spans the control and power spectrum. But steroids are not great. Perhaps all these new foam paddles should be endorsed by Mark McGwire.
