Imagining Astel, Naturalborn of the Cosmos. I can imaging Astel in Bloodborne. A boss you’d fight in a hidden room in the Upper Cathedral or Research Hall. Such an amazing design.
Dopest boss design ever. I love that they took a Lovecraftian eldritch being and made it beautiful. If it wasnt for the color pallet it could have gone in Bloodborne easily.
@@Charlie-zo2nu First tried it with a +10 mimic, I felt like that I was overleveled since one jump attack with two katanas took out 1/10 of this health and my mimic was pretty taint (I have the samurai base armor with Radhan’s helmet)

Bleeding Samurai with Rivers of Blood + 8, Bleeding spec, Mimic Ashes +4 . Seven tries, last one I used Rotten Breath on it a couple of times. The Breath did most of the work and I just slashed him at the end.
It took me about 5 tries. I was at level 98 equipped with a greatsword +13 with storm blade ashes of war and the spirit summons of banished knight engvall.
Damn it. Great vid, but I need to see one where he does that gravity lift move. I can’t get the dodge timing right on that move and he does it at least once every time I fight him. I’ve only been able to dodge it once in my attempts.
I was mainly trying Rot Breath and fire damage (Vagabond, mainly strength build) until I started using Regal Omen Bairn, the wraiths that chase down enemies which helped tremendously. It was hard to land damage from strictly my weapon, for me anyway.
The first 70% or so of Astel's health disappears in the first 1 minute and 15 seconds and the remaining health takes twice as long. I love Elden Ring, but Astel is indicative of one of my least favorite aspects of its boss design, and that's just how _little say_ I have in the spacing of the fight compared to previous FromSoft games.
The first time I fought this boss, I almost beat it. The second time, around half health. Third, didnt do a whole lot. Then I would die before doing any damage at all. My god
When you roll/dodge, no matter the direction, you’re briefly invincible. It’s all about timing but specifically when bosses use a heavy damage range attack, it’s best to roll through it. Knowing all the ways you can be hit is half the battle. From there you simply learn how to attack when you can and avoid getting hit as much as possible.
It's not a cheat, he dodged through them. I will say, he has probably practiced the Boss choreography a bunch. If you know what's coming its easier to avoid.
by the time I faced this boss I was already level 128 with a Great Sword +23, jacked to the tits with Pearl Drake +2, DragonCrest +2, Shard of Alexander & Jars Arsenal, he was pretty easy at that point
Complete opposite experience for me. Going with a colossal great sword build, fought it at level 65 and that may have been one of the most unfun experiences in all of souls games other than like first time Orphan from bloodborne lol
Agree. If you get behind it's head it was fairly easy. I read how so many people had issues with this fight and I was concerned. Then again I have had issues with some fights where other's have not. Play style I guess.
See I can just tell you just said this just to be a stupid ass idiot because he's by far the hardest boss in the game without a doubt I've beat this game twice and the final bosses are nowhere near as hard as this boss

@@samanthamoore2669 okay so if you use a seal that boosts something (such as the gravel stone seal which boosts dragon cult incantations like the lightning bolt) in your off (left) hand, and then use a seal that scales off of pure faith (for example the erdtree seal) in your right hand, and then use the erdtree seal to cast an incantation, it will give you a 20% damage boost if you use an incantation that the left handed seal boosts. For example, let’s say you have gravel stone seal in left hand, erdtree seal in right hand, and then cast a lighting bolt with the erdtree seal, it will deal 20% more damage than if you just casted the lightning bolt with the gravel stone seal. If this isn’t working for you, it’s because your left handed seal is a higher level than your right handed seal. If your left hand seal is +20 for example and your right handed seal is +1, it won’t give a boost. If you’re right handed seal, like the erdtree seal, is +10, it will work like a charm

That patience and timing, so many close calls at the end. Such an awesome boss, GGs

My favourite part of this fight is learning to perfectly dodge the meteors. Very satisfying. Well done
Having fought the Erdtree Avatars so many times definitely helped in that regard. The meteor shower is essentially that but bigger.
