Thanks as due to your post I saved myself a fortune. I fitted a good secondhand glovebox for £30 took me about 25 minutes to remove and fit the box. Audi are charging £300 for a new box plus 100 to fit with vat, so I save at least £400. Thanks again. Ps I didn't need to remove the section underneath at the back as it didn't get in the way when refitting the replacement box. At least I now know where my fuse box is also.
