    Thanks for mentioning the extra bolt within the CD changer area. I have an iPod dock there (2008 North-American model) and behind it are two screws near the front of that area and another one far in the back, which is visible in your video at 1:50. In addition, at 1:45 you can see another empty screw hole in the centre inside the box. I had bolts in all of these, a total of 9 bolts to remove!

    Thanks for the video. Is there better access to the cabin air intake vent that takes in air when the a/c is in recirculation mode by removing the glove box?
    I want to use an air con “bomb” to treat odour and wondered would removing the glove box give better access.

    Thanks for the video super helpful! Mines fully broken so will replace with a used one. In terms of airbag lights going off, as long as you don’t turn on ignition during process should all be ok? Doesn’t need to be re coded after new box fitted? And is it a case of swapping / popping out front lock / airbag lock so original key fits both? Many thanks for the help!

    Hi. Am loving your videos. they are so well put together and I have learnt far than any other video I have watched on the internet. I have decided to have a go at a few things. Changing my glove box; fixing the demister (or just using wd40 and loosening it up (as it works intermittently) , changing my boot actuator solenoid (my boot wont lock). I have a question. Although I am very practical around the house. What are the basic tools your using here I need to buy? Some kind of wench and ratchet - is that a socket or a crewdriver head? what size.? I have a 2002 Audi A4 B6 3.0 cabriolet. Any help much appreciated?

      Hey there - thank you, that's very much appreciated. Glad to see you are enjoying our content and finding t useful :-)
      As for tools, the absolute minimum basic package if you're working mainly inside the car would be a decent 1/4" wrench set, ideally also a 3/8" wrench set, a trim removal tool, stereo removal tool, and decent 90 degree hook tool/pick. That will allow you to get most things done inside the car :-)

      Hi
      Happy new year. Apologies for my tardy response. I decided to go offline for the holidays. That is very useful. And I’d be delighted to donate. I think you’ve saved me money as I have now changed my boot actuator, glove box, headlight switch and might try a stereo and dab aerial install next but I’ll need to search for the videos for that. I wasn’t too sure about the differences between 1/4 3/8 and larger sizes but I understand that’s it’s mainly to do with strength capacity ie turning strength (torque) you will have large overlap of socket heads and that the sizes roughly align that 1/4 is for internal 3/8 is under the bonnet and 1/2 plus is under the car. Does that sound right?
      And finally I had to laugh to myself as when I looked up ‘trim removal’ tool’ and saw sets of 6 differnt shapes pieces of plastic I thought to myself “Great, what on earth do they all do! And even more research I’m going to have to do!”

    What do you call the "catches" for the glove box latch that appear at 25 seconds in the upper left and right side of the video? I have searched the whole Internet and I can't find the name for these parts or where to buy replacement ones. Thanks!

    Great videos. I have a problem with drivers side vents only blowing cold. I notice that the actuators at on the side of the centre console when the glove box is removed. Does each side have a set of acctuators. Is the blend door accessible easily?

    • @TotalTechnik

      Thank you - much appreciated!
      There are several motors for the climate system, each is colour coded and has a different colour arm. When you remove the glovebox you can access the red, blue and green motors.
      There is another on the drivers side, which is yellow. That controls the hot/cold mix to the drivers side vents. SO that's the one you need to check...

    • @MrIanMoss
      @MrIanMoss 7 років тому

      Thanks for the reply. I've found my problem. Right hand side blend door flap motor-the yellow are has sheared off. So, I've managed to tape the arm in the hot position while I get back to it to remove the motor (tight access) and try a repair or replacement. (hard to find, part number 8E2820511 Yellow arm) do you know of a supplier?

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  7 років тому

      Yes, that's what I expected (yellow), as I outlined above...
      Yes, it is very tight access and a real pain to get out. I had to do one in my personal car only a month or so back, and not much fun. But with patience it's not a problem.
      Don't bother trying to repair it. It could break again and it's just not worth it. You should be able to find a used one on eBay for under £30.
      Best of luck!

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  7 років тому

      Hey there!
      You get quite a few of them that are 'stiff' and don't drop under their own weight. It's not something to worry too much about, unless you use your glovebox several times a day of course.
      But yes, does seem to be quite common.

    • @TotalTechnik

      Why would you not want to remove the glovebox? It only takes 10 minutes and then you'll have plenty of access and can ensure the wiring is all cable tied up out of the way and safe. Not really worth trying to do it another way, it will take longer in the longrun :-)

      Removing the dash board is a big and involved job. We've not covered that yet, but maybe we will in the future.
      In the meantime best of luck and we hope you get sorted.
      My advice would be don't remove the dash to solve a rattle. It's a lot of work. Try and track down the exact cause of the rattle, ideally when another person is driving and you can have a good poke around.

    Thank you very much for taking the time to make this! Saved me a trip to the dealer.
    It was easy to remove, just as instructed.
    Getting it back on on again caused a little bit of grunting and some ripe language, but got there in the end.

      That's odd, there shouldn't be! Try giving it a good shake rather than a pull. Did you have any luck with this, if so please share you experiences here for others :-)
