These are awesome Nicole. I just do not understand why people feel the need to leave mean and hurtful comments. Good for you that you have found something that can bring you peace and comfort during this sad time in your life. I had never heard of this type of art before and I love it because I love to color and doodle. Thank you so much for introducing me to a wonderful new form of art! I am going to Boston next week to be with a friend having knee surgery and now I know what I will bring with me to work on....a book to doodle in and color while I am waiting for her surgery to be over. Take care my friend, sending love and hugs.
I agree, it is sad that people feel the need to be so mean. Perhaps they are unhappy in their own lives? With that being said, thank you, Nicole, for providing great videos and helping me find an outlet for some sadness in my life. This art form keeps my mind busy. 😊
When my son died, I couldn’t focus on anything but doing nothing made me want to jump out of my skin. Colouring saved me. Kept my hands busy while my mind was able to zone out. I’m sorry to hear about your father.
If you ain't signing my paycheck, don't you worry about my time! 😜 Thank you for sharing how you create these cool pieces; I had no clue what it took to achieve the effects.
Loree Smith, you couldn't have said it better. My condolences to you Nicole. Your neuro-art are BEAUTIFUL. I'm going to try this to help me with what I'm going through. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏼❤️
I have to say that I watch lots of tutorials and yours is the most relatable I’ve seen because when you pulled out that box of “kid” markers, I was thinking, “finally someone who makes brilliant art with the same tools I actually have at home!” ❤
I don't know why people are so negative it doesn't matter if you have time on your hands PEOPLE please keep your negativity to your self. we love Nichole and her videos
Too many people out there don't understand about therapy, and how important art and craft is to people's mental wellbeing, and I hope you never feel bad when people say daft things like that in their comments. It is a reflection on them, and not on you. (((Hugs))) That detailed one with the circles is stunning! The are all amazing, actually, but that one - wowzer! I am going to be 60 this year, and I used to do these as a child. I didn't know they were therapeutic. I just knew that I loved to do squiggle lines and colour in the result. I also used to do lightning bolts up and down and then across and colour those in too. Then nothing for decades, except when showing my kids ideas like this for them to try out, but thanks to you and your FB group and other YT contributors I am back in love with this artform and benefitting from the anxiety relief it offers. :)
I am literally in tears right now. I thought I was crazy for doing this my entire life. I was told to quit doodling and was teased by my fam and in school for self soothing this way. Thank you for this.
Thank you for demonstrating the process. As a retired art therapist-you are right on with the meditative calming effect this provides. You add color if and when you want. The two parts of creating is process & product. Not worrying about the end result takes courage and is extremely beneficial. Thank you!
i discovered this while desperatly seeking ways to deal with my panic disorder aka ...wicked bad panic attacks. i had been to ER more times than i could count and paramedics to my house even more times. when i found this i would get my book and crayola markers out when i felt an attack coming on it gave my mind somthing to focus on while my body was engaged and moving. the more detailed the image the better it worked. i cannot explain how...but it would distract my mind...allowing my body to calm itself....heart rate to slow breathing to slow ect...these attacks also always came with shaking sweating and full body tremor or nerve type buzz under my skin. somtimes it would only take an hour somtimes longer...but it was night to day better compared to trying to read or look at my phone and doing the art ALWAYS led to me eventually being able to sleep and stay asleep as most of my attacks came at night...it was my trigger i guess. it really does work.
I work with children and have been teaching them neurographic art. I have a small group of about 4 children that are so into this art that their parents have bought them everything they need as they love it for their children as some are high energy and this is very relaxing and calming...so some very grateful parents. My job done 😊
👏👏👏 it’s okay if some projects weren’t as pleasing as others. It’s always an experiment. It’s always good. That’s how we find what we like. ❤️ can’t believe people feel you have too much time on your hands… people shouldn’t judge. Art is art! It’s good you have something to use as a “distraction” to the noise around you. ❤️
I discovered neurographic art around 2-3 months ago and I absolutely love it. I was just under the impression that it was just a way of making unique art, but then I found that there was a lot more to it and rules even. For instance I was taught that to start, you either draw random lines that begins on the edge of the paper and go to a different edge or you can make the line by placing a coin on the paper and follow it by pushing it with your pen. That was it. As for circles, the bigger ones need to be thicker than the outline of the smaller ones and squares and triangles are allowed as well, but each shape represents something different. It's actually very fascinating to really learn about. I love your art too!! I am very good with neurographic art, geometric patterns, zentangle and stuff like that but I just could never do people and faces. I'm horrible at that! Lol
It's so easy to judge someone when you don't know them or know what they are going through. And we shouldn't be judging. You've helped me a lot and I thank you for that. I value your time.
9:37 omg I’ve been doing this since I was a small child 😮. Thanks for explaining this and giving it a name for me. It really is relaxing and meditative ❤❤❤.
Back in the mid 1960's, I remember doing this in elementary art class. The Teacher put on some smoothing music and we could only use 3 colors, but no 2 sections connecting or next two each other could be of the same color. This rule makes you plan carefully.
Neurographic art has been life-changing for me in terms of meditative creativity. The meditative colouring books just stressed me out, because I felt constricted by the existing line drawing that I was simply putting colours into - the only 'creativity' came from which colours I chose to put where, which wasn't enough for me. Then I tried reverse colouring, but that also stressed me out for the opposite reason; I had no clue what to do with the blotches of colours and just ended up overwhelmed by the infinity of choices. But neurographic art is the perfect middle ground; there are enough 'rules' to follow that you can feel like you can create something that'll look decent in the end, but there's still enough freedom within those 'rules' to experiment and make something that's completely your own.
This is so interesting! I've been doing this for a long time but didn't know there was a name for it and never really thought too much about the meditative nature of it; I just liked it. I love that circle one. Thank you!
Love your work and your bubbly nature The negative people should all hang out together and be. miserable. You have inspired me to do a colour glue book.Harvesting at the moment sooo much fun.
Great pieces, nice job using this method to heal!! I love neurographic art, as well as zentangling! I used to use it with clients I served, at a children's residential home for trauma informed kiddos!!
I'm glad you mentioned what is going on with you. My father just passed away also and we are all going through hell. Anything that helps you process your grief is a very good thing. This is priceless!
Meditation is so important especially when trying to process so much emotion. Thank you so much for sharing your process. Please try your best to ignore the rude comments - you mean so much to so many people. I’ve watched for ages and don’t comment much but had to because I’m so impressed with how you have shared so much of yourself during such a vulnerable time. I would be under a rock - and you have been a rockstar!! Please know that you are loved and prayed for - even if there may not be a comment for every video.
Thank you! Here's a tip for those who like crayola markers. They are water soluble! So if you use them on watercolour paper they kind of act like watercolour if you add water. It depends on the watercolour paper. Also if you add water then you need some kind of marker or tool that is not watersoluble if you don't want those other parts to get watercoloury/blurry
I just found the term neurographic art out, to find out I've been doing this 30 years or so. It was middle school and I am 44. It is indeed soo relaxing. The Mr. Sketch markers are genius.
Thanks Nicole. I’m loving this method to calm my anxiety while creating space for joy, peace, love, ease, grace, and have fun making art while rewiring new neural pathways. ❤
I just found your video, and I’ve recently started dabbling with neurographic art. I also lost my dad and was diagnosed with a chronic illness (both a couple years ago) and I’m not quite sure if I’ve ever grieved or accepted all the events that’s happened in my life. I’ve been looking for a release. Your explanation on how to go about this artistic medium is greatly appreciated and something I think I needed. Thanks again. Stay awesome! 🧡
Thank you. This is the best video I’ve seen on explaining and showing how to do neurographic art. Also thank you for showing how to do a simple one and for telling us you’ve been doing it for a few years because your finished pieces look very intimidating! Beautiful and inspiring work.
Thank you so much for sharing the process with us. I don't know that I'm patient enough to do it, but I may give it a try. I love, love, love the ones you have done! I did try doing the lines of color like you did on the first page of your composition book - epic fail, lol! As for the comments left by people saying you have too much time on your hands - ignore them. Unless and util they have walked a mile in your shoes . . . KWIM? Keep on keeping on! It's day 40 for me (since I lost my man) and keeping on keeping on is all I know how to do right now. Grief sucks!!!
I am sorry for your loss. If you try this again you will discover a rhythm and time will slow or speed up to meet your personal needs. You never have to finish a page and you are never wasting paper or ink. You will find your signature look and feel. And when you look at the piece you will recall memories and meaning. Take extra care of yourself, take things on your time frame, ignore bad advice, and keep good boundaries. Warm soft hugs.
Thank you for sharing SOOO much. You're a treasure. I love Nero graphic art the very first time that I saw it. I wanted to try it but didn't know how to start. It's just so much more than a bunch of squiggly lines. Now that you've explained it I know how to do it!😊 thank you so much. I'm so sorry for your loss. May God be with you and comfort you. You're a great artist. I could see your artwork on purses, fabric, Linens furniture Etc. I wish you the best!
Thank you so much for sharing this information! This is great info on this type of art! Girl, please don’t listen to stupid people! I have found most people who accuse someone of having too much time on their hands have too much time on theirs, that is why they are messin in someone else’s business! Screw em! Who cares if you have a lot of time on your hands! No one’s business but your own. Stupid people make me want to cuss bad! Lol! Love you sweet girl! So glad you are finding ways to relax and soothe your anxiety! Keep it up hun, this stuff is gorgeous! Love you and Shermie! 💜💜💜
I was really upset when I first read the comment, then I was like "Pfft! She doesn't know me!"...I guess it upset me because I'm doing this to help with my grief. Oh well, I choose positivity, not negativity! Thank you for always being so supportive and kind! I just adore youuuuuuuu! HUGS!!
@@relaxcutglue girl who cares if you have too much time on your hands! It is only your business! I know you don’t, but If you did, thank goodness you have more than enough time to work on your grief and anxiety! You take care of you! Let the world eat dirt right now, you and your family are all that matter right now! 💜💜💜
Wow! These are so cool! I believe I have being doing this all along! Subconsciously that is ❤ I call mine meditative drawings or intuitive art 🎨 good for you!
Sorry for your loss and kudos for having a grasp on processing your feelings. Forget the mean people. When I draw my original lines, I saw a video where the lady suggested that you can be very mindful about the process by thinking to yourself "Everytime my brain wants the line to go one way, force mysef to draw it the other way." It really adds another level to getting in the zone!
I just found this type of art, it's much like I used to do as a child but learning the theory behind it has been interesting. I understand how it's been helpful for you dealing with the loss of your dad, my condolences. I had to watch lots of horse videos to deal with my grief, my dad was a horse whisperer. I am finding these so soothing and calming and cathartic if I am angry. So simple, yet so helpful. Never give the toxic people room in your head, I find this hard too and I find doing this art keeps me in the moment, not thinking about toxicity or negativity. Well done, thanks for posting.
I just discover Neurographic art & I am hook. Wow does it ever help with my anxiety. Great therapy for sure. I love your heart & tree. Thank you for sharing.
Your designs are amazing. Your tree of life one is my favorite even though it's not colored in. I will have to try it out sometime. Thank you for showing us how to do it and explaining it very well!
So sorry about the loss of your Father. I also have bad anxiety and a very unwell father that is making my anxiety bad so Im going to try this. Bless. Take all the time u need. Its no ones business if you want to do some art in your free time.
Thank you so much Lisa I'm so sorry to hear that your father is unwell. I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me. Sending you so much love, strength, and hugs during this difficult time❤
Thank you so much Nicole, I really really enjoyed watching you show us all as how this art therapy works. I really really love ❤️ this type of art form because you never know where it’s going to take you. And it is so relaxing too. How dare people leaving such negative comments, which doesn’t mean anything to you, because they’re said with total ignorance and stupidity too. Please stay safe and well too, and I’m so sorry for your loss. xxx Mags ❤❤❤
This is a new concept for me and looks quite relaxing. Your Art looks beautiful and I loved the idea of doing this while picking up your kid. Thanks for sharing.
My art teacher in high school taught us this, not remembering he called it neurographic. This has been one of my go-to doodles since. (Lol, I graduated in 1981!) You are right, this is relaxing. Kudos to you
These are terrific. And the finished are wondrous. Don’t pay attention to people and their “crap” honey. I’m been in a very stressful time of my life in the last few years because of my marriage. I’ve gone to colouring books instead of my coloured pencil art. But I find that a bit anxiety ridden, my own art I mean. The colouring books eliminate certain steps I don’t need to do and get stressed. But this is so intriguing and I’m going to do this. Thank you. Thank you. By the way I ran across you by accident and what an accident.
You are so encouraging, and inspiring. I’ve totally hit a lull, playing with water color. But this is just what I need to recenter (in my old age, lol).
Hi Nicole! I lost my dad 4 years ago. He was my hero! Thank you for sharing pieces of your personal life. It makes your channel interesting and relatable. This was a great tutorial. I am going to do this with my 7th and 8th grade art students next year! Thank you for the excellent and thorough directions. You are a fantastic teacher. I hope I can emulate your calmness and that this activity helps my students with anxiety and mindfulness.
I've been doing this at night for the past week or so and it has helped me with my anxiety and it slows my brain down and it has helped me sleep because I'm so calm by the time I'm done for the night. My father recently passed away (I'm sorry you lost your daddy too) and this truly has helped me process. I love your works too. Thank you for sharing this and sharing aspects of your life that it has helped you with.

I know, it's sad how mean people can get.
It’s because the world is full of nasty self indulgent people. Take me back to the 70’s please.
I agree, it is sad that people feel the need to be so mean. Perhaps they are unhappy in their own lives? With that being said, thank you, Nicole, for providing great videos and helping me find an outlet for some sadness in my life. This art form keeps my mind busy. 😊

I’m sorry to hear about your father.
So sorry about the loss of your son
I also lost a son over 6 years ago now he was 27 .its so hard to loose a child .
If you ain't signing my paycheck, don't you worry about my time! 😜 Thank you for sharing how you create these cool pieces; I had no clue what it took to achieve the effects.
Ha!! Loree for President!!! Thank you so much for that, it put a huge smile on my face!

Anyone casting negativity and doubt on this beautiful artist should be instantly blocked! No time for that here or anywhere.love you for this!!❤

Gosh. I've been making something I never heard of for decades. Thanks for giving me a name to call it.
I like yours too.
i discovered this while desperatly seeking ways to deal with my panic disorder aka ...wicked bad panic attacks. i had been to ER more times than i could count and paramedics to my house even more times.
when i found this i would get my book and crayola markers out when i felt an attack coming on it gave my mind somthing to focus on while my body was engaged and moving. the more detailed the image the better it worked.
i cannot explain how...but it would distract my mind...allowing my body to calm itself....heart rate to slow breathing to slow ect...these attacks also always came with shaking sweating and full body tremor or nerve type buzz under my skin.
somtimes it would only take an hour somtimes longer...but it was night to day better compared to trying to read or look at my phone and doing the art ALWAYS led to me eventually being able to sleep and stay asleep as most of my attacks came at night...it was my trigger i guess.
it really does work.

Our 5th grade music teacher, Mrs. Davis, used to have us do this while we were listening to classical music. The loops and the coloring.
I really really like the effect of the partially colored one of the rainbow rocks--I'd leave it as it is

I really enjoy doodling, zentangling and neurographic art. I totally know what you mean about getting into the zone. Sending you hugs!
I love this art 🥰
I just found this type of art, it's much like I used to do as a child but learning the theory behind it has been interesting. I understand how it's been helpful for you dealing with the loss of your dad, my condolences. I had to watch lots of horse videos to deal with my grief, my dad was a horse whisperer. I am finding these so soothing and calming and cathartic if I am angry. So simple, yet so helpful. Never give the toxic people room in your head, I find this hard too and I find doing this art keeps me in the moment, not thinking about toxicity or negativity. Well done, thanks for posting.
Thank you for this video. You are absolutely delightful. So happy I found you. I’m going to check out your other videos and your Facebook Page.
Thank you Deidra!! It's really fun!
So sorry about the loss of your Father.
I also have bad anxiety and a very unwell father that is making my anxiety bad so Im going to try this.

Take all the time u need. Its no ones business if you want to do some art in your free time.
Thank you so much Lisa I'm so sorry to hear that your father is unwell. I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me. Sending you so much love, strength, and hugs during this difficult time❤
Beautiful! THANK YOU
Thank you so much Nicole, I really really enjoyed watching you show us all as how this art therapy works.
LOVE your process & your art is STUNNING...thank you for taking the time to share this w/ us!! ❤❤❤❤
My art teacher in high school taught us this, not remembering he called it neurographic. This has been one of my go-to doodles since. (Lol, I graduated in 1981!) You are right, this is relaxing. Kudos to you
This is great! Very relaxing. Just a new way to doodle with intent, I really enjoy making these designs. Thanks!
I love this..ive been doing this since u was a kid..because i cant draw😊
Thank you for sharing sending love ❤
Nice demonstrations. Nice advice.
love this so much . thanks !! you're awesome
This is really helpful and easy to understand - and I love your neurographic tree; so cool! Thanks for sharing this!
ive been drawing my roses and doing this with them it works good for me
These are terrific.
Just got that stencil for free thanks to my Michael's coupon! I cannot wait to try this!
Thanks for sharing your process. I'm inspired to give it a try. 😃
This is very interesting. Some of these have a feel of Australian Aboriginal art
You are so encouraging, and inspiring. I’ve totally hit a lull, playing with water color. But this is just what I need to recenter (in my old age, lol).
I love the one with the circles. I have one of those stencils so I am definitely going to make one like that.
This is amazing cant wait to try. Thank you
This is great. Thank you🙏🏽
Condoleances Nicole. It looks like this is a great way to process things.
I’m definitely going to try this 😊. Life’s been a booger lately! I need some downtime 🙂. Thank you for sharing your tutorial, so cool 🤗💕!
Thank you for sharing this and sharing aspects of your life that it has helped you with.
thank you very much for your share.
Thanks for sharing. So amazing.💜

I used to do this as a kid. Who knew 40 years later it would be a thing...lol. its amazing how much creativity can go into a "doodle".
There is something deep in human DNA about this.
I just did an ATC based on this concept while listening to you. It was a fantastic experience.
That makes me so happy!! I do Neurographic Art nearly every day. It’s so fun and relaxing!
