They make kitchenaid mixers for people that only use them once a year. Mine died after 6 months. They replaced it and it lasted a week. They sent me a replacement for the replacement and when it came I sold it. Still done have a mixer. Been thinking of getting a Bosch. My mother has one of the original mixers that’s older then me (40) and it still works great.
I am sorry you lost the old girl. I have one and it is an old one I've had her for 20 years now and she has not failed me yet. In case I need to do a load bigger than 5 cups I have a bosh, I better think about getting a shredder for one or the other. I have not used my KitchenAid for shredding, but she works hard at making fresh pasta. I guess I can buy her a new shredder attachment. I am glad you are back full steam Bev, I missed you. Hugs from Toronto
God bless you for giving me the tools to be better at making my food go further and taste better! I had no idea how to freeze cheese, but I do now and tomorrow morning I’ll freeze the Costco cheddar I just bought!! Hugs and love from Festus Missouri!! Can I use cassavas flour???
Hubby watched the video and it sounded like ours 2 years ago. He mentioned it could be the attachment gear. When we push things through an attachment it wears down the gear. I messed mine up doing tallow in the meat grinder. You can order the kit from online. He shopped around to get the best price (doesn't remember what site). He took the Kitchen Aid apart and fixed it. It has work like new since then.
The expensive Kitchen Aid, $400.00 are made with metal pieces the lesser Kitchen Aid, are made with plastic pieces, I have a friend, who burns through Kitchen Aid , one a year because she buys the cheaper ones your better off (gasp) I known to spend the money versus buying a new cheaper one each year. Check your thrift stores, too.
My KitchenAid’s almost 23 years old. My daughter has gone through several and replace the gears many times on the newer ones just like everything nowadays nothing lasts.
Glad you showed the process of shredding cheese. I have been doing this for years. Way cheaper and tastes better than pre-shredded. No garbage binders only cheese
I also have a Kitchenaid Classic my hubby bought me in the late 70's - early 80's. (I cant remember the year) It is still going strong too! I have a Kitchen Aid food processor that I thought I'd replace to get a new model that would dice veggies. Paid around $200. When it came in the mail I opened the box. I immediately realized how light it felt. I placed it on the counter and looked at the plug. It was two-pronged. Mine was three-pronged. I made my mind up at that point that this was junk and I would keep and covet my old Kitchenaid processor. I didn't want to pay for return shipping or put it on a shelf so I gifted it to my sister. She barely uses it so I can't say how durable it is. We had a Kitchen aid dishwasher that didn't do well and a stove whose mother board went on it. Replaced the dishwasher with a Bosch. Worked great. We are in a new house now and we put in a Bosh dishwasher. We are still very pleased with Bosch. I bought a Bosch Universal Plus mixer to handle making multiple loaves of bread and big batches of cookies. Love it! It is such a shame when companies that have been around for years and known for quality products sell out.
Oh No!! You lost Cowgirl, that sucks! Ive never seen a kitchen aid mixer break? My Granny had one as long as i can remeber. Now she didn't use it for those attachments maybe thats why? My mom bought mine for me from an Estate Sale. It was so covered in grease and dirt we didn't know if it would work. But cleaned it all up and it still going strong. My daughter and I call our Kitchen Aid Cowgirl now..lol
Will your Granny's Kitchen Aid was probably one of those made by Hobart! After 1989 Hobart sold the KitchenAid name to whirlpool. Whirlpool replaced a lot of the parts with plastic so if you can get your hands on your granny's mixer you've got a gem!
My KA seized up on my grinding pork. Luckily the warranty was still in effect and they sent me a new one. Well I say new but I will bet it was a rebuilt one. Anyway I really only use it any more for mixing and making noodles. Got myself a Hobart meat grinder.
The same thing happened to my KA, hubby took it apart and it turned out to be the gears, we found them on eBay here in Australia, and he watch one UA-cam vid and fixed it in 15mins. Hubby also said to check the brushes. You may be able to find the parts easier there, but if you do get a new KA can I suggest getting the big one with the stainless attachments and bowl lift.I was lucky enough to get one and I can tell you it’s sooo much better. The motor is much more robust. ❤️
There are no plastic parts in my Kitchenaide, looks like the motor seized. One good thing is that you CAN service Kitchenaide mixers yourself, they are so easy to work on. There are videos out there that will guide you through
Thanks for the starch tip. I have a 600 series and learned how to repair it on UA-cam. H may be able to fix. So sad a good company name is now plastic trash.
Oh no!! mine did same thing as no longer use metal gears in the motors. Almost as cheap to buy new and start over. Kneady homesteader said there is an outlet in Ohio or Michigan might need to upgrade to heavier model, I know I should have thought commercial grade first.
Oh noes! At least you’ve found a replacement. Those accessories are expensive ! It’s coincidental, but I just explained to Greg last week why I call my Kitchenaid “The Cowgirl”. 😁
So sorry Cowgirl is kaput. If you have several expensive Kitchenaid attachments, you may want to get another Kitchenaid. I you do choose to go with another Kitchenaid mixer, choose the Kitchenaid Pro - The model with the bowl lift. They apparently use better parts in these. Mine is a 6 qt Pro made in 2002 and get a huge amount of use. I make bread, pizza dough and make a LOT of pasta, so in 18 years, I've gotten my money's worth out of it, and it's still going strong.
Please let us know what type of mixer you go with, my hands are not what they used to be and think I will have to invest in one soon. I have always done everything by hand but between trigger fingers ( hands locking up) and arthritis it's just not an option anymore. Thanks for all your videos, I love them all!!
I have never done this ,I always buy in bulk cheese and freeze cause it really is cost effective but it seems to thaw out ok . That is terrible that it broke your machine I was saying to my self that's a smart attachment I have a kitchen aid but also a food processor and that's how I shred ,then your machine winds down ! I have seen on living traditions them fix there's you might be able to do this with yours .
Me and my wife been married for 41 years, both of us a little broken up from a lot of use . we’re going to see how long we last. nether one of us want a newer model. we’re in for the lifetime warranty.
I rarely put shredded cheese on my homemade pizzas. I prefer slices instead. What would I do with such a brick of cheese ? I would probably give it to a local grocery shop to have it sliced. Or if you have such a machine at home, you can slice it yourself. Then I cut parchment paper in the size of a slice. Then I put slice of parchement paper, slice of cheese, slice of parchement paper, slice of cheese etc. I put 12 or 16 slices of cheese/parchment in a bag like yours and into the freezer. Find it more easy than shredding....
It sounds like a stripped gear to my ear. If you replace her with another KA ...go for the smallest "commercial" model either new or refurbished that runs on household current. I got mine (from Price Club/Costco just after their merger) in about 1997 and it's still running well. I think their commercial table top models never went to the nylon gears like the "for home" table top model did. You also should be able to get new parts and do it yourself.
My sympathies regarding Cowgirl, may she rest in pieces. I like my Kitchenaid....but I've noticed its really not strong enough for things like grinding and shredding.....not awful, just a little light. Even the bread hook made me a nervous. I've had a Bosch 800w mixer and attachments on my wishlist for....ever. I found more out about them after getting into the preparedness thing...and after I got the K.A. You certainly put a mixer through the paces much more than I do .... maybe an upgrade it in order. Now....a Bosch is not as purty as a K.A..... :) And I'm in the market for a stand alone grinder for game processing.....
Mrs. V you need to get a KitchenAid Pro model. Upon researching years back, I found that they handle bread dough & hard jobs much easier than your Cowgirl. I'm so glad I bought one & it's still going strong.
I'm glad you found one Bev:) It's a must in our kitchen, especially yours! I never froze shredded cheese before. Thank you for the video:) Have a wonderful Sunday.
When packages if shredded cheese go on sale I buy several and freeze. It's so nice to have shredded cheese at a moment's notice. I want to buy a block of cheese and do just what Mrs. Volfie did.
thank you for showing how to attatch those pieces I just purchased the grater set for my mixer still in box sorry about your mixer thank you for the cornstarch tip I have learned so much from watching you thank you sweet lady for sharing your knowledge God bless you
Great video! I was kneading dough for bagels in my kitchen aid Saturday and could smell the motor trying to burn out. It’s a heavy duty professional. What a joke! Garbage!
@Bev.. I know they refurb Kitchen Aid in Greenville, Ohio . Last I knew..it was Whirlpool-G.E-Kitchen Aid. If that is something you would want to look into.
I didn't know Kitchen Aid was bought out by Whirlpool. So disappointed. I worked at Whirlpool (washers). I saw the quality control. Which was lacking to say the least. Hate to say that, but true. Now the mixers suffer. Too bad.
Bev, do you have a food processor? You can grate your cheese that way!! I'm sorry for the ''Cowgirl''. Yep, When KA was brought out by WP, they are now garbage!!
I need to find a kitchen aid bowl. I remembered I have an old kitchen aid in moms garage. Runs but no bowl. Totally forgot. Thanks for the tip on adding tapioca starch or cornstarch to shredded cheese.
When was Kitchenaide sold to Whirlpool? I have a professional 6? series and it runs like a tank ..... hubby bought it 20 yrs ago. I pay $100 every 2 years to have it serviced and they clean it, oil it, take care of the parts ... whatever I guess is required .... but it runs like a top. I am so so sorry for the cowgirls demise. It is hard to imagine her red awesomeness not in your future vids :(
Oh no.. cowgirl died. Id be blatting like a baby. I use mine almost daily. Yous isn't thst old either. Have you contacted kitchenaid? Might Spencer you with a new one ? 😊
Live near Benton Harbor Mich. Home of Whirlpool national headquarters. Used to have very large factories there along with corporate headquarters. Closed down factories and now mostly assembled in Mexico. Cheap labor no benefits for workers. Not only cheap parts but cheap labor. Always used to buy Whirlpool but no more.
Beverly Howey can probably fix tour cowgirl. I watched a video sometime back where this man showed how to fix his kitchenaid . have him google it and give it a try. Give us an update on it if he is able to fix it.

Oh Ouch!! How long did you have it? Seems like at least 😕 6 or 7 years since I subscribed to your channel. What would be your other choice for a mixer?
Can't STAND when appliances break down on ya. Especially when you need it right then and there. The other day my food processor took a crap as I was about to make my detergent; had to finish it in my blender haha! Took me 10x as long, but at least it got the job done.
Oh Bev, is Howie handy with fixing things? I don't know if you'd want to do this but my husband can usually fix anything with a small motor in it. I can't guarantee anything and I don't know if the shipping would be totally out of range or not but I'm sure he'd at least look at it for you. You know my email if you'd want to do it or not. That makes 2 you been through since I been watching you lol. Buy a KA that has metal transmission. The cheaper ones have plastic gears. The better models has steal gears still. I have mine for 10 yrs now and still no problems. 👍❤✌🇺🇸
Don't get rid of her, I bet Howie can fix her! To me, the best part of owning a KA is that they were designed to be rebuilt instead of thrown away.
Thank You!!!! Hugs!!!
Shredding cheese for the freezer! Brilliant! And so much cheaper ❤
If any of your viewers are keto, like myself, they can use arrowroot powder. No taste, no caking! God bless! ❤️💐
Instead of tapioca starch???🙏❤️
@@b.wooten4505 Yes, with a slightly less carb count per oz.

It’s a Kitchaid... possibility can be repaired?
It really depends on what model KA you purchase. Some models still have all metal gears. Best of luck!
Oh no! You need some one of the lift bowl models - they are made for heavy duty work ...
Oh NOoooooooo! I’ve been watching you for years and the Cowgirl has always been your trusty companion!!

Hey Bev, guess what happened yesterday. I was unsubscribed by source unknown to me. This happens to other UA-cam channels too.

Is it possible that it was turned up to high? Usually for the attachments you use them at speed 4 . It still sucks that it crapped out on you either way . I would definitely reach out to kitchenaid either way.
My Kitchenaid is 20 years old this fall, is that before or after the sale of the company?
My motor has over heated and shut itself off.
I’m glad you found a new kitchen aid, yea for Ms v
Where did she say she found a new kitchen aid mixer?
I didn't hear her say she found a new one, just that this one siezed....
Ken Williamson a Lady is selling her one for 140.00 dollars she’s going to pick it up Sunday ( that’s today now ) it’s after midnight she said it will take the last of HOWIEs check but she couldn’t do without one

You can get parts for you KA at Repair Clinic .Com I had too get internal gears.
You can contact the company and they will send you parts to fix it.I am sure that your husband could do it,
Check out fellow Canadian Glen & Friends cooking, he has a video about fixing his KA mixer. Might not be the same issue, but it could be helpful
Mine died the same way grinding meat.
Oh no! I'm saving for a new kitchen aide myself
So sorry it bit the dust.
Please do a video of your boxer!!!!
Thank you for the information
Kitchen Aid. They are not like they used to be, for sure. Sorry yours gave up.
Great idea Bev about grating cheese to freeze❤ as I only use cheese thats been grated and frozen cheese blocks are too crumbly arnt they

ooooooo I'm sorry about cowgirl.:(
If looking get a bowl lifter model, they are sturdier and for heavy duty use.
I've know three people that purchased top of the line, bowl lifter models and had to return them. Buyer beware!
No More Kitchen aid. Mi next mixer will be a Bosch. Its expensive but is able to do bog capacity without issues. Check videos on yt?.
