I’m English and came to Germany many years ago, and one thing that stuck in my mind was driving home with a colleague when I commented on the snow-laden branches looking so filigrane and beautiful. He gave me a very surprised look and replied that he didn’t take me for a romantic person (I totally am!). Maybe people really don’t see it the same way. I’m a hobby photographer, so walking through the surroundings with wide open eyes to catch that special moment or vision is a must.

My father told me to be careful when chopping wood and to stand with my legs wide apart so that if the axe missed the log and went through, it wouldn't hit me in the shin. Very helpful when concentration wears off after a while. Nice time, that was. :)
You have to move your hands downwards at the moment of impact. If you miss you continue that motion and hit the ground. Also let the upper hand slip so the impact is further away, that’s also safer.

And another one is the private Christmas Market of princess Gloria von Thurn und Taxis in Regensburg. You will have to pay an entrance fee there, but it's for charitable purposes. And it's very likely that you meet princess Gloria in person there.

Yes that is true! Because we can walk, ride our bicycles and take public transport to go places we are outside a lot more than we used to be. The kids did play outside a lot though at our house in the US.
One of the best things I found in the Alpine regions of Germany and Austria is a Kachelofen with a built-in Bench (Bank) in the Kitchen. Nothing is better after a day on the slopes than sitting with your back up against one enjoying a nice beverage of your choice. They throw off such warm comfortable heat.

Beautiful video. Where I live it is also beautiful now, but it’s Spring, with flowers and new leaves on the vineyards and Oak trees. Celebrating the changing seasons, sunrises and sunsets is one life’s joys.

I mentioned it in another video, but just to be sure you read it: You own a Grundofen, so you should place the big wood pieces next to each other in a row on the bottom, then smaller ones on top and then at the very top something to start the fire. That way the flame is at the top, the fire will burn it's way down and during that, the smoke that escapes the wood gets burned in the flames above, reducing the enviromental impact and the people around you won't have to live with that much smoke. :)
This lovely video brought back memories. I remember the pure delight my sisters, brothers and I had playing with fallen leaves, jumping into leaf piles and tossing them into the air to watch them cascade down. This was around 60 years ago. And it makes me happy to see the neighbors' kids doing just the same thing now. Long may you and your kids be happy and just enjoy life!

That was lovely. I just came back today from taking 20 kids on a retreat in Bayern and we spent all 5 days outside as much as possible-rain and shine, day and even nights. Nature is so good for the sole.

Nostalgia... I remember when my mum and I took walks in Hirschgarten collecting Kastanien in all sizes and forms :') more than 20 years ago... I still collect Kastanien to give them to my mum when I visit her
tolles Video , meine Kinder haben Blätterschlachten auch geliebt :-). Sie können basteln mit Blättern. Die Blätter mit Farbe anmalen und dann auf Papier drücken zum Beispiel und dann Papierfiguren daraus machen ( Kopf , Arme , Beine dazu zeichnen) . Steine sammeln mit Farben bunt anmalen und mit Lack überziehen , ist eine hübsche Deko. Kastanien Sammeln und Kastanienfiguren mit Zahnstochern draus basteln und vieles mehr. Ich wünsche euch noch eine schöne Zeit.

Yeah we were super lucky! But they are only renting it for 7 years, so I think that’s how we got it. Not typical for Germany. We also used a relocation agent and she was a huge help.

Yes! When we arrived in February there was a lot of snow and we used the stove frequently. It was wonderful - we enjoy the snow.

That was lovely. I just came back today from taking 20 kids on a retreat in Bayern and we spent all 5 days outside as much as possible-rain and shine, day and even nights. Nature is so good for the sole.

Yes! Before I started filming our lives I didn’t notice nearly as many details as I do now. Having a camera helps me to notice more beauty!

I remember when my mum and I took walks in Hirschgarten collecting Kastanien in all sizes and forms :') more than 20 years ago... I still collect Kastanien to give them to my mum when I visit her

tolles Video , meine Kinder haben Blätterschlachten auch geliebt :-). Sie können basteln mit Blättern. Die Blätter mit Farbe anmalen und dann auf Papier drücken zum Beispiel und dann Papierfiguren daraus machen ( Kopf , Arme , Beine dazu zeichnen) . Steine sammeln mit Farben bunt anmalen und mit Lack überziehen , ist eine hübsche Deko. Kastanien Sammeln und Kastanienfiguren mit Zahnstochern draus basteln und vieles mehr. Ich wünsche euch noch eine schöne Zeit.

Yeah we were super lucky! But they are only renting it for 7 years, so I think that’s how we got it. Not typical for Germany. We also used a relocation agent and she was a huge help.
