It's crazy to think, their love brought down the entire Galaxy....
I know right? I find it quite sweet but sad.
Rania Mia Agreed. Wish people had a deeper appreciation for the prequels..
+Lildrummerboy714 That's love dude, you will realize that you will do stupid things. You will throw everything just to be next to the person you love... Tragedy, that love means...
+Lildrummerboy714 It actually didnt. It served its purpose. Anakin, after all, was the chosen one. He did accomplish his purpose, "destroy the siths". He jsut did it later, as darth vader. Kylo Ren is a knight of ren, a different order.
***** Fulfill his destiny and prophecy he did, BUT the galaxy was destroyed in the process. Trillions died, ( including the destruction of a few planets if we are counting the First Order) and the collapse of The Republic along with The Jedi Order.

"Did you ever hear the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker The Chosen One? I thought not. It's not a story the Sith would tell you. It's a Jedi legend. Anakin Skywalker was a great Jedi Knight, so powerful there was nobody in the world who was stronger in the Force than him... He was the Chosen One to destroy the Sith. Yet, he was plagued by the fear of losing his loved ones. After losing his mother, he promised himself not to let anyone of his loved ones die again. A dark Sith Lord succeeded to seduce him to join the dark side because he was still plagued by the fear. After years of ruling the Galaxy as a Sith, he finally stood up to the Sith Lord who once seduced him and killed him before he died himself. It's ironic he had to die himself to fulfill the prophecy of destroying the Sith."

Does anyone else hear both Anakins confusion, sadness, and love for padme in this song? I think if there was a song to explain why he fell to the dark side. This would be it.
That's exactly it. When you get down to it Anakin was yanked in every direction by the council, Padmé, Palpatine (even not about the dark side), the war itself. In the end it wasn't really his fault. The Jedi order as a whole just shoved everything onto him.
It's masterful
You just explained everything that just happened in this piece perfectly
Facts man! 👏
@@lordzox5926 If I have to call this song something it ultimately is triumphant song about love except it being in minor key. It's more of melodies that interplay and different orchestrations that give it it's power. Truly mastepiece.. There is getting to know each other stage, the first troubles still dampened by love, passion, then turbulent phase that invokes darknes and then main love theme comes back squashing darkness, love has a final say in this song. Even if it's voice is way calmer and mild then that of darkness. And that... is the best love story ever told, or rather the ultimate love story. Also it parallels so much: Padme dying while still believing in Anakin's goodness, Anakin's redemption in the end, how Luke mirrors Padme faith in goodness in Anakin, hell it even mimcks Bible if you look at it from what Bible says about Christ. Really I don't know if anyone could write better song about love. And I think it should be played at the weddings indeed, cause it's not idealised love, but the kind of love that is powerfull enough to conquer all. Hell it could be played in Harry Potter and would match. Or in Lord of the Rings ( not that I would exchange any of songs there , they are also a masterpiece ). It just in the end is the Love Theme. Not just the love theme of star wars but The Love Theme of all love stories ever made. That shows how genious Williams is. Though Binary Sunset is a first glimpse into that genius.

such a beautiful but tragic film. this tragic romance hurts my heart everytime. anakin meets the love his life. he becomes plagued with fear of losing his loved ones and after he loses his mother he swears to never lose anyone again. he was a boy that was so misunderstood, it wasn’t his lust for power like what obi wan had said, it was the immense and immeasurable love that he had for his “family.” he became his own downfall by causing his love to die and metaphorically loses his father figure, best friend and brother obi wan kenobi because he was seduced easily by chancellor palpatine who could read anakins weakness. anakin was brainwashed into thinking he could save padme but ironically him trying to save her caused him to lose her. knowing that his torment and fear of losing padme was what led him to losing the love of his life anakin had to spend the rest of his life trapped. physically and mentally. trapped inside a cold dark suit and the trapped by the heartbreak that tortured him for the remainder of his life. anakin spent the rest of his days dreaming and never letting go of the ever fading memories he shared with padme. he tortured the galaxy to try fill the gaping hole in his broken heart. he brought justice to his name however when he saved his son from the emperor, turning to the light side to destroy the sith. he was the chosen one. he fulfilled the prophecy in the most heartbreaking way. and as he lay there with his helmet off he took his remaining breaths staring at his and padmes child with his own eyes, whilst thinking of padme in his heart. he could rest now. he could be with padme again. he fulfilled his destiny. he went through enough torture. he closes his eyes for the final time and anakin skywalker dies roughly 10 minutes after killing lord vader.

The one most people can't name, but all knows it is Star-Wars when they hear it.
Episode 2 was worth it for this music alone.
Anakin and Padmé’s love is even more sad if you think about the fact that there is no “they were reunited in the end”. Padmé wasn’t a Jedi, so after she died she didn’t become a force ghost, even though Anakin did; Padmé was just…gone. When you think of it that way it makes it even more sad, because there isn’t a “happy ending” to their love.
But they both are one with the Force. Force ghosts are only beings who can return to the living. All living beings when they die, become one with the cosmic force. So technically they are reunited.
That's the exact point of Anakins tragedy. He was never meant to experience true happiness or have anything resembling a happy ending. He was a puppet of fate that served the purpose of restoring balance to the force, for which he had to suffer greatly and in the end, got basically nothing out of it.
No, they have their happy ending. Everyone in star wars reunite with the force, but only a few can appear in the form of force ghost. In one comic, which is canon, Vader enters the netherworld through the portal and meets Padme. So there is an afterlife for everyone in SW.
😭😭😭😭
@@Miki-xy2em "Everyone in star wars reunite with the force"
Yes, but it's not in a judeochristian "heaven" kind of way. Reuiniting with the force means to lose your "ego", your sense of being an individual. You become part of the greater cosmos. It's actually just a romanticized way of saying that you're dead forever. There is no Afterlife in Star Wars.
I always loved the build up to the main love theme at 2:45 PLEASE SELECT A FLEET TO COMMAND
"IN GALACTIC CONQUEST-"

Bash the prequels all you want, the music was amazing.
It was, admittedly, the only good part of the trilogy.
Alex Von Seggern Nah, I loved the prequels. The writing was bad, but other than that, I liked them more than the originals.
Music, fight choreography, and environments were better in general. A pastel-colored fungus forest, a planet-wide mile-high city, and a world covered in volcanoes are more breathtaking than Tunisia, Norway's tundra, and the redwood forest. Say what you will about CGI, but it was pioneering at the time. But of course so were the original trilogy's effects.
To me, the special effects are on par when you look at when they were made. The prequels have more musical strength, where the originals have narrative strength. (The OT would've had some terrible lines too if it weren't for Marcia Lucas, Gary Kurtz, Irvin Kershner, and Richard Marquand, though. Lines like "You call yourselves human," "you've got a mouth bigger than a meteor crater," and "you're as cold as this planet.")
I love all 7 movies, and all 7 scores are exceptional
+Jeremy Schep I perfectly agree :D
A boy falls in love with a girl. He loves her so much that he couldn't bare to be without her and so destroys everything around him trying to save her. Ironically it was this destructive behavior that ultimately kills her and without her he spends the remainder of his tortured life terrorizing the galaxy trying to fill the void left in his heart.

When will people realise that Anakin did NOT kill Padmé. He had a vision, which would come true like losing his mother. It was INEVITABLE. The choke did NOTHING
What makes this song so beautiful I think, is the foreboding sense of tragedy in it. Everytime this theme plays during the courtship of Anakin and Padme in Episode 2, she gets a fleeting glimpse of a deep-seated anger and hate simmering inside him, that she never allows herself to think much of. Despite their native intelligence, both Anakin and Padme are ultimately naive in their love and Padme pays for it more than anybody else. There is truly nothing more heartbreaking than knowing that you denied to yourself, what you knew and felt all along.
I love how Across the Stars sounds romantic, but at the same time it has sad undertones giving it this sense of impending tragedy. Later in the song, it ends up getting more intense and powerful in tone, hinting the galaxy is going to be changed forever! It's both beautiful and impactful at the same time O.o

I love how the song has moments were it feels romantic, but than also moments were it feels millitarised.
Kind of like Padme, whos more carring and doesn't really care to much for the Jedi or the Clone Wars. And also Anakin, who is an actif general in the Clone Wars and is seen as a warhero by the galacty.

Unpopular opinion: Anakin and Padmé’s love story is my favorite in all Star Wars and this love theme is more beautiful than Han and Leia’s (which is already crazily great)
YES!! I agree with you 100%
agreed i loved their love story
My personal favorite is Obi Wan and Satine.
"Remember, my dear Obi Wan.... I've loved you always..... I always will."
I've never been a huge fan of Han and Leia's romance. They don't really emotionally complete each other, they only help each other out of jams, and it always felt like a strong friendship rather than a romance. They are both relatively static characters in Episode V who don't really change their core behaviors once they fall in love.
On the other hand, Anakin and Padmé feel burdened by their responsibilities in a conflict almost completely out of their control as a peacekeeper and politician respectively. They have sympathy for each each other that nobody else in the galaxy can offer. When they are together, they finally feel comfortable being themselves, and indulging in the kinds of human emotions unfit for a Jedi or Senator. Unfortunately this leads them to be dependent on each other for happiness, and they end up breaking the Jedi code.
In Empire Strikes Back, Leia randomly out of the blue turns a 180 and basically decides that because Han does a few cool tricks with the Millennium Falcon, she loves Han out of nowhere, and Han is like "oh, she suddenly doesn't have a problem with me? Well sure, I guess I like her too."

The best thing to come out of episode II is this beautiful piece of music.
+kamatemateLIVE 100% agree
+kamatemateLIVE You could very easily replace "best" with "only good" and still be right.
+Graham Allen I would disagree Jango Fett looked cool.... and then that's pretty much where my compliments end
+KamatemateLIVE Jango Fett seriously damaged the entire lore though lol
+Tehh David but he looked cool at least?
The romantic yet dramatic build up at 3:45 is perfectly timed just after Padme confesses her love for Ankin and they enter the area, bathed in sunlight, and a ruckus crowd cheers for their sacrifice. It is a magical scene. Thanks for posting!
This is what makes Star Wars the best movie franchise, John Williams.

До сих пор считаю , что история любви Энакина и Падме если не самая, то одна из самых лучших трагичных историй любви
I love how this theme in the beginning is so calm and lovely witch shows their romance at the beginning and in the end is more dramatic--anakin becoming seduced by the dark side of the force. A really good theme. Very emotionally
Bad English dude

literally the most amazing love theme, I loved the prequels tbh
mula me too
same here just awesome!
You can say what you want about the prequels
You can say the dialogue was weak
The characters were bland
The love story was rushed
The CGI was overused
And Jar Jar
But you cannot say that the soundtrack was bad
Sure you could. But you would be a liar and get crucified by any sensible person
A masterpiece of music in every movie.
I love the dialogue, characters, love story, CGI and Jar Jar so I'm good
Plus music of course
@@joeljensen7392 I guess after Last Jedi everyone is now looking on prequels from a completely different angle...... and finally admire them
Best love theme ever.
This hits harder at 3am ✌🏻😔
Holy shit it does
I’ve been listening to this every night before bed
Across the stars has got to be my favourite piece of work by John Williams.
It portrays love, sadness, fear, longing and many more emotions and blends them together perfectly
as much as people criticize the prequels, no one can deny this theme is amazing
+suerafuls i don't like the prequels, but, their soundtrack is second only to the original trilogy and the new trilogy has to improve a lot to hold up.
+suerafuls It's John Williams. Luckily George Lucas doesn't know how to meddle with music and just let's John Williams do his thing
+suerafuls It's sad, because I only knew Star Wars as the sci-fi movie with the bad theme song before I watched it. Then I watched both trilogies and I was like, "Wow, John Williams actually made some really beautiful songs! So, DON'T JUDGE A MOVIE BY IT'S THEME SONG.
And Williams is inspired by the scenes he views to write the music...so it kind of turns your argument on its head.
Too much like Daggerfall's main theme at points in my opinion.
When i hear this song i instantly start crying... Because this was my boyfriend's song and always wanted me to listen to it so he could show me how much he loved me through star wars, his favorite films of all time. And now.. Valentin, if you ever see this, i hold you in my heart, have a nice day... I never told you but... That song is beautiful...i'll always be there for you as a friend or a lover...
Anakin and Padmé are two of my favorite characters in the Star Wars franchise, besides their children Luke and Leia. Their story is truly a beautiful and tragic thing to watch almost some twenty years later. And this theme that represents their love, perfectly suits it well. May they all Rest In Peace together as a family in the Force.❤🥹

See, Obi Wan was not a Jedi. He also once said "Only a Sith deals in absolutes."
He was weary of the Jedi Order, and no one listened. Look what it got us.

Üdvözletem!
Fuck, I loved the prequels.
Same everyone seems to hate them but I personally love them episode lll is my favorite!
+Jeniffer Paredes II is the best
I don't know why they hate them. makes no sense.
+Jacob Robinson I love the prequels too, but I can't stand Anakin's actor in Episode II, and sometimes Jar Jar is a little annoying, but otherwise I really don't see why they are so widely hated. And if you couldn't tell from what I just put, 3 is my favorite.
+PKMN trainer Rojo I feel people think that way because they're the ''new movies'' and are automatically worse than the older ones. It is not only like this with Star wars, but for example when people talk about video games, they tend to think that the first one was the best. This is probably because of the nostalgy they feel.
I cry every time i listen to Across the Stars its the most perfect beautiful Love Theme of all
time goosebumps every time.
Star Wars has the most beautiful sound tracks of all the time. This track always bring me tears. Great job John Williams!
it's impossible not to get goosebumps listening to this.

This music captures all of the romantic tragedy that Lucas was going for. Too bad the movies didn't, but the music is fakkin incredible.
Yup, definately. Imagine if Anakin's life as a slave mentally scarred him and Padme had to help him cope. That would've been amazing and would've made more sense when Anakin went dark side.
Lol that's exactly what I was about to write
Jalen Berry Seriously. You'd think with highly-paid/big-ticket writers we'd get that level of good writing.

Agreed. Even for those who don't like the prequels, they would most likely agree that the musical scores by John Williams is epic nonetheless
This theme is so sad but it also gives a spark hope. It’s brilliant.

I've had such strong feelings for this piece for a long time. I found out that a good friend of mine loved Star Wars back in mid-2015, and to me, Star Wars was an anchor for me growing up, next to Harry Potter, like every other kid who was born in the early 90s. That good friend and I ended up finding out that we really liked one another. Very often, while I was overseas, back in 2016, I'd listen to this song quite a lot. Her and I still will enjoy it on long trips or just randomly, when she plays one of her favorite Spotify playlists, and I hope we have countless more moments where we can enjoy this song together.
well ya, John Williams did Harry Potter too
A lot of Star Wars fans are indifferent on Episode II, but I think most of us can agree that this is a masterpiece.
C'est vrai, le coté obscur y est tres présent !
Poor Anakin, he falled to the dark side only for his immeasurable love to Padme. I feel so sad when I listen this song.
