Thank you so much for the vid, I thought for a second that you were woking on my coleman stove that I saved from the landfill also left in an old barn and had a huge mouse nest in it. I thought I was having problems with the plunger but wasn't sure if I should mess with taking it apart. Thanks to your vid she's back up and running.
Wow! 1st time viewer here... U dismantled that stove quick!! I need to learn this kinda stuff to work on my stoves too. Found a 3 burner and wanted to clean the tubes and the tank before using it.
My parents were tossing a 1978 one today it's rusted and dented all to he'll.i gutted it cleaned every component and sanded it down its now black with a purple tank.
I've become the owner of 7-8 stoves, the oldest is a 413 which may be from 1948. Most I've paid $10 or less at garage sales and flea markets. None are in this tough a shape.
That is something I have not found a good trick for yet. I removed it for painting the cabinet by bending the gill rod & then bending it back nearly straight after I was gone painting. If there was an easy way yo remove those clips that hold the rods & love to learn it.
I sanded it down & sprayed Rust Kutter. It is not as even as if I'd taken it down to bare metal. I believe the Rust Kutter will give me as long a life without rusting again, but it is not as smooth as takeing it completely down to metal.
Thanks for posting this! Just got my 425E 5-70 and am eager to get it clean and running, but am no expert. Could you tell me whether the grill is meant to come off? I can't get those little clips to budge.

That stove probably has the date stamped on the underside of the tank tabs.
