Coleman has proven that things can be American made and still be affordable and still stay in business despite copy-cats. I have their 3-burner stove that I bought in the early 1970s. Still works with the gas that must be close to 20 years old. Still fires up. The only thing I had to do to it was replace the plunger. I also have two of their lanterns and the 533 stove. I don't think I'd consider another brand. I don't know why they quit making the 3-burner model. I'd take that over a 2-burner any day.

Martina Dejaquiz that's awesome,I've got a 1974 503 with cook kit / case and it's great. It was only lightly used when I got it from my dad who found it in a recently vacant house about 25 years ago and never used it. It's got all the original literature with it too. It puffs a little bit out the pump when I take my thumb out and I it requires more frequent pumping than I think it should, but it's great for grilled cheese sandwiches in the summer without having to heat the house up ( in the backyard of course )
Oh how I loved this, made me smile. American quality keeping us proud. At 60+ years old I just got my first Coleman, a 425F. It's so enjoyable to camp with it and sometimes just to light it at home to make me grin with joy. Best stove I've ever had and gives me peace of mind should I need it in an emergency. I wish I discovered this in my younger years.
The 425 is a great stove. It's built like a tank and always runs. I found mine at a Goodwill for $1.00. It needed a bit of work and a good cleaning. In the end I put less than $10.00 into it. Way less. In the 20 years since then I have taken it camping every summer. I love it. And I agree, Breakfast on a Coleman is the best.
That's an even better find than mine! I paid $20 at the Habitat Restore and am totally happy with it, made fajitas in the back yard just a couple days ago on it.
Found my 426D three burner at the Salvation Army for $15. Put a new O ring in the gas cap and oiled the leather cup in the plunger. One day, I'll be handing it down to my grandkids. It's 8 years older than me too. Good quality products are becoming the way of the past.
I can remember back as a kid, my parents used to go from Georgia to Illinois where my mother's parents (my grandparents) lived. Sometime in the morning we'd be in Tennessee and pull off the road in the old '55 Chevy wagon. My dad would pull out the old Coleman 2 burner stove and we'd have breakfast. I can still smell the bacon and the coffee simmering on the old Coleman stove. Coleman stoves remind me of my childhood with trips taken with the family in the mid 1950's. I now own a 425E Coleman camp stove and two lanterns, a 200A red lantern and just picked up a 220K double mantle lantern which I restored. Coleman makes top notch products--made in America and they last from generation to generation if cared for properly. K9POW - Rusty in eastern Tennessee
Just got a 1946 530 that was in a shed full of fuel since 1966, other then a new fuel and a fuel cap gasket (that I only changed because I had one)it needed nothing to fire up. Absolutely love it!!!
Coleman is just the best! I have a small collection of their stoves and lanterns, the oldest of my lanterns - a 242B - was made in July of 1938 and it's my main goto lantern! Gotta love their longevity!!! 😎👍
I’ve had my 424 dual fuel only about 8 years. I’ve already used it quite a bit. Road trips, camping...even used it as my emergency stove during Hurricane Harvey. Sometimes, I’ll take it out to the back porch to cook my breakfast eggs on it for no reason other than I love using it, and breakfast on a Coleman stove is fun!
they did make retro models of some products. i have a 200a red lantern made in 1995 that is a retro of the original red 200a that was discontinued in the early 70's. recently they made a retro model of their original metal cooler or ice chest.
Ive got both a coleman 426 3-burner stove that i keep in my travel trailer and use out in the camp site when im camping, and a 413 2 burner stove that stays in my garage and is my road trip stove when i dont have the camper with the truck, out when im out in the bushes with my jeep, i run both of mine on unleaded 87 octane pump fuel, absolutely love them! Also have a more modern 2 burner propane colema stove i keep as a back up to my backups and for power outages in the house. And have a several duel fuel lanters, some kerosene hurricane lanterns, and love the older days of simplicity.
I have a 425E stove that at least 45 years old. 100s of meals and I also use it to melt lead for casting bullets for my muzzleloaders. Kinda beat up looking but still works like a champ. I also have two red, single-mantle lanterns.
I'm still using my 1986 413h along with the lantern that was bought at the same time. I had to replace the generator in the lantern, I love the fact that parts are still readily available 34 years later.
Like everyone is else says they wouldn't take nothing for their old Coleman stove and neither would we, we have brought up our family of 4 girls back in the early seventies and now in the 2000s we're cooking for the grandkids on the same old stove and the food is still good and so is the stove!
I have three of these. One from the 60s, one from the 90s and one from 2016. All of them work perfectly. The one from the 60s I got on my 16th birthday. Theirs nothing more American than a Coleman product.
I've got a stove made in the early 50's and a newer multi-fuel and one is as good as the other. And a lantern from the 50-'s era and a kerosene job. Unbeatable!
I wish Coleman still made them like back in the day. Lanterns were brass or nickel plated brass. Bring back the Coleman 237 & 202. The 530 pocket stove! The mini 222& 226 lanterns!!
Made the conversion after the Katrina flood ruined the fuel tank. More a matter of necessity at the time. Curious to learn more about your opinion on propane. Thoughts?
Eric Gamble I don’t, personally, prefer propane because of the pressurized tanks necessary for it. I find them rather heavy (for the amount of fuel they carry), bulky, and harder to dispose of. As far as reliable ignition and BTUs, I think propane is adequate. That said, my wife has a propane grill and I have a Coleman SportCat propane catalytic heater. I just prefer Coleman fuel or kerosene. Although, beyond any doubt, propane is much easier to light than kerosene.
In my 60 years on this planet, most of it spent in the outdoors from Georgia to Alaska and many places in between, I’ve never bought anything with the Coleman name on it that wasn’t high quality. Tents, lanterns, coolers, stoves, even stainless steel camp cookware, all top notch and indestructible. Thank you Coleman for your legendary quality. 👍
