Love the noise of the Deltic takes me back to being age 10 on Eaglescliffe station every Sunday. Wish West Coast would do something with that foul brown livery they run….spoils every loco painted in it.
Love the Deltics! I was fortunate enough to ride one of the first Deltic-hauled services on the ECML, (1961, maybe?) from Newcastle down to York for a visit to the old Railway Museum. Fish & chips lunch in the Carriage Works canteen, then back home behind a steamer. The arched roof of Newcastle Central produced some great echoes, and the sound of a steam loco getting a heavy goods train started out of the Forth goods yard (just to the West of the station) had to be heard to be believed!
weird sounding locomotives the deltics + big powerfull beasts capable of pulling some very heavy loads it looks like brand new and nice to see it back on the mainline again! 🤩🥰😍
I must admit to preferring her in the Two-Tone Green livery, but she still sounded amazing. Quite proud of the fact I lived near The Vulcan Foundry where they were built, which is now sadly an ALDI and a housing estate.
Awesome catch, saw her at Preston. The sound of a deltic under load is truly amazing. Can hear them coming from a mile!
Agreed mate - Great news that No.9 is running back on 2 engines again.. Sounds absolutely mint 👌👍
@@trainsplanes sure does! It’s great to hear after hearing royal Scots grey running on only one engine

Totally agree about West Coast paint jobs, boring and makes every loco look scruffy.
Good to see & hear. The preserved Deltics have now been in preservation for twice as long as they were in normal service on BR.
love the class 43 pottering around by itself ...
Great video, I caught her at Preston great to see her run on 2 engines great engine note 😊

Good memories Nigel - Great locos 👍
Great capture. Strange seeing a solo HST power car (43046) on the move!!
Great video. I can never forget when I was about 12, on a school /railway club visit to Doncaster, and we spotted our first Deltic.
Cheers Phil.. I could listen to them all day - Mega sounds. Great memories from Doncaster 👌👍
Brilliant video well done also that must have been a good day for you Philip
Never seen a HST power car running on its own!
A rare sight for sure.. 👌👍
Me neither... Looks well weird😂
Another great video 👍👌
Deltic looked fantastic
Wow, that engine sound is awesome.
When trains were trains🥰
And men were men.
Well done
She is so beautiful like all her classmates. I wish they still ran on national rail.
Absolutely - At least we have further mainline outings to look forward to during 2023. 🙏👍
Type into UA-cam, Deltic on freight and you should get the Alcan traffic from Blyth, Northumberland.
Great stuff, that's a Like from me . 😁👍😎😎
Thanks buddy - I’ll try and catch the class 37 log train through Shrews over the next couple of Fridays if I can get there 👍
I got distracted as it left Crewe by the D&G bus wondering where it was going.
Ha! Very good 😂👍
Classic
Is that the APT lurking in the background?
big beautiful beastie
I wonder if the deltic will be used for freight, like the 50s
Yeah never, just for charter and heritage operations
Beast
Don't see why the 55 can't haul freight, after all it used to pull trains from London to Edinburgh.
@@annamarietrindal1967 They are old now, and can't perform like they used to
They did do for a while, think there’s some stuff on here showing a Deltic shunting cement trucks iirc.
Is she returning to Barrow Hill on Thursday 0Z56 Carnforth - Barrow Hill
Yes - It looks that way. There is a Carnforth- Carlisle-Carnforth loaded test run with coaching stock planned for tomorrow.
Great, I'll be out Thursday it will boost our little channel 👍
Is she coming back through crewe tomorrow? (Thursday)
Yes - Due back through Crewe at 13:39 👍
@@trainsplanes Thank you.

No because it does a test run from carnforth to Carlisle tomorrow
Can anyone tell me what was wrong with her?
Hi John, no issues with the loco. It was just planned test runs in advance of the Railtour No.9 is due to head on 13/05/23.
@@trainsplanes Thank you. Much appreciated
That oil stain is a little concerning
No. Normal for two stroke engines.
