Lyrics:
Reflections of my life are fading
Pull me out of body
Don't want it
Don't want in
Feeble frail and rotting
Descending
I'm lost in a structure
That's collapsing
Don't want it
Cast into
Maker take the body
Don't want, it wants me
#Mudvayne #DeathBlooms #HeavyMetal
This song is apparently about Chad's grandmother growing old and his whole family forgot about her except him. Apparently she drove him to band practices and he experienced a lot of frustration and anger when she died. Pretty heavy.
Damn. That is brutal.
I think she’d be proud to know this is one of the greatest songs of all time.
Reminds me of how frustrated I was with my extended family. Glad I severed my ties with them. Holidays are so much better.
You make me tear up a bit mate. Please run for president. World could do with a guy like you.

I'm about 19 years late to the Mudvayne party. Spent my youth listening to megadeth, Metallica and primus. But here I am now. Not disappointed
Primus sucks!!
Bud,I'll be 67 years old this year, and this rocked.
You're NEVER too old to grasp the good and the great.
You made it, that’s all that matters 😎
Better late then ever ! Hellyeah
They are getting back together
In a sea of nu metal, this album stuck out and still holds up today due to the lyrics, and potent drums, bass, and guitar work.
...Kinda didn't expect to see you here while jamming along on guitar, dude. You're spot on though, this and the album that followed it were top tier.
Man, the most strong reason that Mudvayne is my favourite New Metal band is because of this song specifically, simply a masterpiece
Hands down the best Nu Metal album to me
All the stuff in the LD50 album really sticks out. Coal Chamber's stuff does too.
This wasnt nu metal which u never suggested tho ( but certainly implied it) but math metal is what they r the first and only band of their kind with their progressive additions and abstract subtraction equals what u see here
The bass player is a monster
+Rafael Martins How Good do you think he is i would say top 5 best bass players.
+AtomicTeddy Because there is alot of great metal bassists in "harder" types of metal.
Xemozazk Nah, they didn't cover any death-metal, they had:
#10: John Myung
Dream Theater
#9: John Deacon
Queen
#8: Flea
Red Hot Chili Peppers
#7: Les Claypool
Primus (bullshit, I know)
#6: Cliff Burton
Metallica
#5: Steve Harris
Iron Maiden
#4: John Paul Jones
Led Zeppelin
#3: Paul McCartney
The Beatles
#2: John Entwistle
The Who
#1: Geddy Lee
Rush
Honorable Mentions
Jack Bruce (Cream)
Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big, David Lee Roth)
Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell)
Robert Trujillo (Metallica)
Tom Araya (Slayer)
None of them are necessarily "Heavier" than Mudvayne other than Slayer and Primus. Whoever agrees with that list should be shot.
+Rafael Martins i honestly think his talent s being wasted he wasnt even in a band for like 4-5 years
+AtomicTeddy Why the hell is Lee 1st? If anyone on that list should be first, it should be Claypool or Geezer.
His clean vocals sound so sweet.
except that that's the point, the clean vocals are luring her to death, it's supposed to sound alluring.
@@TotalXPvideos Why would she need to be lured to death when she wants to die?
@@jeremyc9593 it's about his grandmother
He kinda sounds like Maynard from Tool imo
No one wants to die without a reason, the reason is the lure.
Album is called LD.50 because this bass is lethal
Nice one!
No it’s in reference to the conundrum and paradox of being unable to over dose on psychedelics. The whole album opened with a snippet of Terrence Mckenna talking about shrooms.
@AnCapDog144 how is that a conundrum or a paradox? Lol what are you talking about
As iconic as Dig is, their grittier look in this video is the best they've ever been.
The bass in this song is awesome
Ashton Wilkins The whole L.D. 50 Album featured some pretty amazing bass
Ashton Wilkins Its Crazy 1:13 Reminds me of Opeth
+Ashton Wilkins sexy as hell, that bass!
+Mike Carter it's really hard to ignore how talented they are, nu-metal era or not
+express16a Huh...never thought of that...I bet it would be pretty SIC tho..
Ryan Martinie is such a fantastic bassist. Both his talent and energy are superb. The dream bassist for any heavy band.
Hopefully we get a mudvayne reunion
I like Ryan, but for me, Fieldy of KoRn is my favorite bassist.
Korn >
@@captnron740 I'm from the future and boy do I have some good news for you
@@emperorpalpatine1228 Fun fact: Ryan filled in for Fieldy on European tour in 2012. They are both great artist with different styles.
This song is sung in the perspective of Chad's grandmother, who after bejng diagnosed with terminal lung cancer was neglected by all of her loved ones except Chad. He wrote this song out of the empathy he felt for her after having long conversations at her bedside. Haunted by her memories of better days long since passed, and embroiled in the hatred of the current state of her failing body, all she wanted in the end was the sweet release of death.
Lol isn't that what we all want in the end though. Whether it's cancer or whatever else ends up taking you out, it's no different. It's nothing special. It's the process.
I myself met Ryan martinie and he is the NICEST man on earth he does it all for his fans, let me play his basses and signed mine, he isn’t like other bands where they don’t talk to fans after shows Ryan is the most open man and will talk for hours about anything, such a good man!🤘
I never met him in person, but I saw an interview with him on UA-cam. He seems like exactly what your comment says; very nice guy! That's so awesome that he let you play his bass and talked for hours.
@@SkaMasta097 totally, he was very humble!
My ex got to hang out with all of them and she said they were all super cool, grounded, and accommodating. They even shared their Pabst with her lol

I fucking love the guitarist and all of his odd little head and body motions
Gürggg
I know 😩😩😩💯💯💯
The spiky hair and face paint do it for me.
The tribbs
Was a thing in the early 00s
Play guitar, stand still and move the rest of your body
The 'Dig' video captured this perfectly
Still one of their best songs. Wish they had kept this sound going on future records.
Stoned Meadow Of Doom i have bad news for you...
Their self titled is pretty epic.
Yeah man to me every album was sick with a voice like Chads and a bassist like Ryan how can it not be good ?
The bass slowly creeps out of the mix. If the musicality and lyricism on TEOATTC wasn't so good on most songs, it would be a crap album because ryan isn't loud enough. Thankfully he rears his bassy head again in L&F
The last 2 albums are just pretty bad in their own right, nothing ryan's fingers could save haha
Dude, I've been prayin for that since that album dropped, ever since LD50 it's been this bizarre progressively worse sellout routine to the mainstream, fingers crossed, they never captured that lightning in a bottle since in my opinion...although they had the formula right in front of them, just rinse and repeat, I think ditching the original image may have had something to do with it, just a theory
Martinie has one of the best bass sound of the metal circuit
The fact that he uses no pedal/effect for his bass sound makes me amaze him more
Warwick 5-string basses sound so rubbery and phat. Other Warwick players include Norwood of Fishbone, P-Nut of 311 and, Dirk Lance of Incubus. I love the sound!
yes!
@@SkaMasta097 don't forget Rob of Metallica 😊
Fuck oath bro refreshingly original
People are constantly saying "beast of a bass player..." but the thing is they as a whole is what makes them great. The drumming is also anything but easy, casual, simple. The guitarist takes the role of filler and he does is so in a subtle way but perfectly that it blends with the whole sonic picture. And don't get me started on the vocals raw off-the-chain emotional delivery on the whole album... It's not the bassist that makes this band so great but their unity
That's all true, the "beast of a bass player" comments are more about bass in the context of metal as a whole. Usually the bass is just a lower octave of the main guitar riff and Ryan flipped that on its head. I agree with you Mudvayne is about the unity of this unique powerful sound.
The core of the bands sound is the bass and drums though. The way they tie together is absurd. Both huge talents who were lucky to be in the same band. Ryan is the stand out.. his bass is absolutely relentless. The drumming was the best of its time and hugely underrated.
For me it's between those two, and dime and vinnie for the ultimate duo of musicians in a band. It's absolutely bizarre that pattern and mudvayne bastardised itself together and became so... disappointing.
horrendously under rated
By who? This band is very appreciated.
+ajkorras By a considerably ammount of metal listeners , most of them dont talk or even heard some of Mudvayne , like dig and that's what they have in mind about them , not a bad song at all but it's not the label of mudvayne , I used to think they were shit , then i listened some of their songs and even musically are spectacular and well composed sick shit! totally under rated
Carlos Garzon well that just means that it's not well known then
+Carlos Garzon I think the majority of real metal fans know who they are. this is one of the most perfect albums of metal.
ya fuck hell ya we want mudvayne back well iDO
Man this song is so sick. all incredible and talented band
i think so
We don't see these things anymore, which is very sad(((((
The bass and clean vocals at 1:13 and 2:50 sound so otherworldly that they give me ASMR. They're my favorite parts of the entire song! 😎
My favorite part of the song no doubt
great harmony
Best song part
The best part for sure. Ryan's melodies are so beautiful and Chad's clean singing is so beautifully hainting. This song is a masterpiece.
that part specifically is the reason why im picking up a bass. These guys are genuinely 1 out of billions
Still my favorite track by Mudvayne. Glad they are back!
I agree
X3
I don't understand how they didn't conquer the world.
+Ward AlienVideo Probably their albums after The End of All Things to Come. Also their guitarist is pretty weak. But goddamn their drummer, bassist, and vocalist are top tier 10/10 musical geniuses. Just because of their first two albums Mudvayne has been my favorite band alongside Tool for as long as I can remember.
A lot of people couldn't take them seriously because of the costumes and the whole "nu-Metal" thing.
+Slaytounge I agree
Me too! They are or where BADASS LIVE!!!!!
justin bieber has been born thats why
ryan martini is the best bassist iv ever seen on a hardcore bands
Nobody notice that the drums are good too
Yeah , but the bassist it s a beast man.
+Caio Tavares I agree
+Анани Александров probably because do you remember a few years back when EVERYTHING was about the drumming? (thanks to def leppard) well after that no one really cares about drums anymore, and after drums it was guitar, and now it seems that since bass was dying music hipsters brought it back
it's all good
much fucken better then hell ya miss this band
My dad told me about mudvayne and so many other great nu metal and metal/rock bands. He said Ryan martinie and Les Claypool are his favorite bass players. He said mudvayne was one of his favorites. I wish I would've listen to more music with him and create so much more memories. I feel his presence and love when I listen to his favorite bands. Rest easy dad, love you.
How can a song be so heartbreaking yet so heavy at the same time? These guys were brilliant

Mudvayne will be associated with the nu-metal genre but they truly were on a whole other level, the musicianship is so tight and technical, while the lyrical content is beautifully transcendental

Roiling hate

Unveiling rancid petals
Flowering forth foul nectar

Still listening to this in 2021. The breakdown still goes hard as fuck every single time.
2022 here
Lol, been a while since I've listened to anything off this album. Still to this day, their "rhythm" section just blows me away. Bass and drums. I've never heard the bass played with such melody amongst a heavy guitar like that. It combines for a truly unique sound.. Rare in this genre.
London Grammar and Lorde have been my preferred listening lately so it's quite the change of pace pumping this through my ATH M50X's!
Dustin Crooke don't hate me but I'm liking ptx a lot at the moment
The Boss no hate here.. Had to see what ptx was. They did a daft punk song I was looking for. I had no idea they were actually a thing.
Dustin Crooke there big deal :)
LD 50 Probably one of the best albums in the early 2000s for me.
So heavy yet so somber. It makes me wanna rock out and cry like a bitch at the same time.

Yeah dude especially when he sings “I just want to run and hide, fly kites, wrestle, jump and play. Swim through waves that crash to shore” that shit hits deep
that's a total feel bro, their tracks "Severed" and "Patient Mental" really give me that mood.
Bassist rockin his guitar like a light saber
And looks like Darth Maul too.
When I watched the video of "Dig" as a kid, I was like, "Dad! Look! It's a Sith band."
This song and video reminds me of my grandmother that just passed away a month before this comment was typed. As people grow older, they're hardly looked after. They're hardly able to socialize and so they're haunted by their past memories. They loose their will to live because of all this.
my condolences, mate..
That was beautifully spoken my fellow vault dweller. My grandmother passed away a year ago in October. R.I.P to everybody’s grandmothers and loved ones in general. And thank you mudvayne for the music to help us get through it.
back in theses days when you can actually hear the bass guitar playing
+Darragh Noone yeah its a shame bass is dying but pretty soon guitar will be dead too
Soon guitar will be lower than bass and sound like shit, both will be dead
It's the tinnitus

Don't worry, my bass is always my band's loudest instrument besides drums
Mudvayne needs to make a surprise return like Disturbed did!!
Maybe they will now that vinnie paul's dead.
But distruded is trash now tho have been for a wile lol

My wife is going through advanced stages of nf2, neurofibromatosis type two . She's living this song. It's so hard to watch. At least Chad's grandmother lived a full life 😢 respect to every one that lives with a very sick person and still gets up every morning and puts they're work in. I see you 😢
Welcome back Mudvayne!
been too long
I love how they cut out the "bad words," and still think this appropriate for all ages. I love it, myself. Although, I'm 34 years old. Censorship is a joke, I guess is what I'm saying. I'm drunk. Good night.
I guess kids watching this video will become very polite psychos. Thank you YT censorship
I know this reply is late, but they honestly censored the word "suicidal"

Technically some of the best music ever written
Discovering Mudvayne is a substantial metal milestone you never forget.
One of the best songs they ever made. I still get it stuck in my head. Everything about it is great from the bass groove to Chad's voice to the intensity of the drums
Tool and Mudvayne are the only bands that have stood the test of time for me, I don't enjoy much of the music I listened to when I was a kid but they're both masters of their craft and the pinnacle of each genre that they came from.
Deftones and Static X though
system of a down?
Tool✊🏼
Deftones, Tool, Mudvayne, A Perfect Circle, SOAD, Drowning Pool, Slipknot
Korn?
Mudvayne doesn’t need categorization-not “ groove “ metal - they’re an enigma. Chad reminds me of my dad, another genius composer. They’re brilliant. I was a young opera singer for mason gross, licensed musical prodigy and they’re musical arrangement is superb- the best. Anyone putting them down is total jealousy. I love pantera too but dees dudes have their own sound. Much ❤️
Chad is an enigma to me. With Hell Yeah he has a straight to the point Sully Erna-esque agressive vocal style. With Mudvayne he sounds like a severe schizophrenic that escaped from a psychiatric state hospital and decided I'm gonna join a metal band and be their singer (it really fits their early image). On another note if Rob Zombie ever does a House Of A 1000 Corpses sequal again he definetly needs to cast Chad. He fits right in.
I thank 90's that it gave this king of bands to the world. I was a kid back then, now I am 26 and I just coming back to this bands. I did not have internet back then and only could find bands like Rammstein and Linking Park, and just 2-3 songs of Mudvayne, Static-X so on. Its Nu Metal era for me again)
Just getting back to that myself. Rock on. \m/(-_-)
i feel ya scat95, i was 15 when i saw mudvayne and linkin park in 2003. i still come back to mudvayne now and again.
Rammsteins better than any nu metal band
Mudvayne really needs to start touring again! They were fucking awesome!!
Yeah true but right now hellyeah is touring with ffdp and volbeat so if mudvane does tour it won't be for awhile.
Yes and I don't think chad can bring out so much power and emotion like he used to in his songs
I remember seeing them live when I was like 17 years old and losing my mind in a mosh pit. It was a transcendent experience for me that I'll never forget.
Nik B Not sure what you are saying, but if you're talking writing it's still pretty solid, as evidenced by the new Hellyeah album. If you're talking about his voice in concert, it's as strong as ever. Just saw them in Bismarck last week.
Lol um no way! Haha his voice was a 1000 times better through 2000-2005 haha we all know that. It is NOT as good as ever lmfao
Mudvayne pulled emotions from your gut, this band was something insane. There are a lot of great vocalists, but you KNOW its Chad Grey the first second of the song.
That Warwick Thumb bass tone.. most underrated bassist ever
This album's aesthetic is the best.
Mudvayne's first album LD 50 is so underrated. From the vocal to the bass, from the groove to the lyrics, this album is so awesome.
Greatest heartbreak of my life was hearing "Not Falling" for the first time and realizing their gaze was to the mainstream.
True, they really needed to stay with this sound on this album. Absolutely incredible. Not falling is still a good song though
Great singer. This stuff is not easy to play or sing. Serious talent. My hat's off to you lads.
Still jamming 2019! 🤘🏽

Mudvayne seriously underrated.

Man I forget how really unique and talented these guys were when they first came out. Sometimes the stars just align perfectly and bring truly talented people together to create something amazing
Swear each year that passes, the L.D.50 album ages like wine. Yes there are many heavy moments within the album, but the lyrics hold meaning and aren’t just empty words for the sake of getting people pumped. Love me some Mudvayne man!

The best lyrics I have ever heard. I'm lost in structure that's collapsing!
"This whole place is coming down!"
One of the greatest metal albums ever created
Upon first observation it feels like a lot of other Nu-Metal but the song has so much freaking going on it, it's insane. The musicianship of this song, changing tempo, time signatures, keys, tones, moods... everything you need to make a song stand out in a sea of mediocre nu-metal, but it never got its huge due. My fave part of the song is the chorus bass lines that use an arpeggio scheme to give a tonal lift to a dark and angry sad song.
Some of the baddest ass bass line on any song ever!!!
Anyone else notice how metal bands first album's are usually their best? Mudvayne, slipknot, korn, mushroomhead, etc.
and also Disturbed, Papa Roach
+Jake Herington It's cause they have everything and nothing to lose.
If you give your best in your first album, it gets really hard to write songs.
Slipknots second album is their best however all their albums are amazing! Maggot
+Jake Herington it's mostly because they invested the the biggest amount of time creating that album. Then mostly the best of everything tehy did up to that point when they finally put that album together is used for it.
still holds up. old mate on stage put every ounce of his being into his vocals. one of the great bands

Such a great song! If Mudvayne were ever to create a new record I hope they could bring back the heavy, funky, jazzy bass that was heard on all songs from LD50. It gave them such a distinguished sound.
Bass is one of the best things about these guys.

This whole song sounds like a rollercoaster lol
Because it's art in and of itself.

Triple M yessss!!! That's when I was introduced to them.... I remember in 7th grade 01' recording their dig video on VHS whenever fucking MTV actually played good shit

Triple M man oh man those were good simple rockin ass days. We are starting to sound like uncle rio
Wtf me too bro. 9,11 happened when i started listening to this shit you must be my age. Stay metal man. 7th grade and 8th grade as hell for me metal helped me deal./
I was born in 2001, still hard for me to comprehend how much of my favorite stuff is older than me by a lot.
Ryan Martinie is a beast! He’s (bass)ically backup vocals with his bass.
me niego, creador toma mi cuerpo
no lo quiero, me quiere a mi
El pasado encontró su lugar
ya no hay más salvación
Dios aceptará mi paz, me perdonará
los reflejos de mi vida se desvanecen
Sácame de este cuerpo
no lo quiero, no lo quiero
débil, frágil y pudriéndose
descendiendo
estoy perdido en una estructura que está colapsando
no la quiero
me niego, creador toma mi cuerpo
no lo quiero, me quiere a mi
Yo solo quiero correr
volar cometas, luchar, saltar y jugar
nadar a través de las olas que chocan en la orilla
recuerdos en mi envuelto en la miseria
Estoy harto y cansado
de abrazar los reflejos del pasado
recíbeme o recházame
Dios por favor llévame
Resistencia inútil a ideas suicidas
sacrificaré mi propio ser
satisfaceré necesidades egoistas
joderé a las deidades y justificaré
mi propio derecho a lo que está esperando por mí
En el más allá, mi tiempo ha llegado
de cerrar y cargar
estoy llegando, estoy llegando, estoy llegando a casa
Sácame de este cuerpo
no lo quiero, no lo quiero
débil, frágil y pudriéndose
descendiendo
estoy perdido en una estructura que está colapsando
no la quiero
me niego, creador toma mi cuerpo
no lo quiero, me quiere a mi
Yo solo quiero correr
volar cometas, luchar, saltar y jugar

In my opinion this is the Magnum Opus of Mudvayne..
2:13 where I get the chills
Tool - Wings For Marie (part 1 and 2), NIN - The Day The World Went Away, Mudvayne - Death Blooms. All laments for grandmothers. All brilliant.
wings for marie was about maynards mother, not grandmother
Liam Neeson
Old enough to be my grandmother.
