Head-canon: G5 is an alternate universe. It would explain why G5's Twilight eliminated magic, which seems very uncharacteristic of the Twilight we knew and loved from G4.
It would've been interesting if Twilight and Spike tired to fix the alternate timelines. For example conquering Sombra and Chrysalis, befriending Nightmare Moon and Discord and so on. I know it's possible to beat Nightmare Moon without the elements of harmony because it did happen in the What If? comic "My Little Pony: Deviations". The G4 ponies also travel to the universe of the G1 ponies in "My Little Pony: Generations", though for some reason Grackle and Dyre look more like Equestria Girls humans than their mothers Reeka and Draggle ever did. Also the G4 ponies travel between universes via magic mirrors, whereas the G1 ponies travel via "Over the Rainbow".
Now this is the my little pony multiverse we all wanted (yes i know there was that pony-verse rumor a while back but i think this is the best we have right now)
I wonder how Flim & Flam took over Equestria tho, but yes the universes are so super interesting like *Chaosville* or where Chrysalis conquered the land, I do think Discord's one is the most liveable because he will just prank you all the time without actually Harming you. I just wonder, what a universe where the Storm King won would look like, any ideas guys?

Aww come on you didn’t talk about the most well known alt universe that the fans made and you DID mention you’d talk about fan made alt universes too and the most famous one was “On A Cross and arrow” where they learned of the Genderbent versions of themselves you even used the male Mane 6 as your thumbnail. I was so sad you didn’t touch on that story’s alt universe! Another fan work that is famous is a universe where Twilight was born male and everyone else stayed the same called “ The Unexpected Love Life of Dusk Shine” by memasaurus
