Congrats Tom! She's in! In my wee bit of experience of putting engines in vehicles, I've always pulled the trans and mated them together before installation, much easier. But it's done and on to getting her wired up and running. At least with no snow, it gives you more time to work on the Vette. That's making good use of your waiting time.

The biggest issue is that you have to put the cherry picker from the side of the car due to the length of the hood.
The cherry picker that I was using had just enough length but it was literally touching the fender which made it difficult to get the alignment adjusted.
If I had a picker with a little more length it would have made it easier.

I have a '76 as well. Out driving her yesterday and was thinking that I need to do this as well. Watched all the videos already and looking forward to more!

Thanks! I should be getting back to it in a couple of weeks. I have back to back snowmobiling trips for the next couple of weekends.

My wife helped me to pull out the 350 when my back was tweaked and she was also there get it initially dropped in and aligned with the trans.

As I'm watching this, I couldn't help but think this would have been a good time to replace that rear main seal. I had to have mine replaced in my 04 Avalanche and because I lacked the tools and equipment to do it myself I had to pay a guy to do it. With over 100k miles, it would have been cheap insurance.

The previous owner had it replaced when they had to drop the transmission. I believe they said it was replaced around 140k miles.

Hey man great series on putting in an LS! I’m going through this right now. Were you able to reuse the same starter?

      Thanks!
For the starter, I used the one that came from the 02 Yukon donor.

I want to see how the bumper turned out! I have a 78, think the mounting and fitment should be similar?

I thought I made a video of it and just realized I didn’t. I’ll put in on the list. 😀

What bolts did you use for the engine mounts?

      The mid mount?
I’ve considered it, but for the price point. It doesn’t make sense for what the car is going to be.
