      It was the same for me. I love the game like no other. I thought long and hard about every little detail. But I never really realised that many things were modelled on real places and buildings. Of course, things like Yellowstone National Park stand out immediately. But I usually thought that in 2064 many of the real buildings had already been demolished.

    When you don't live in this area or in the same country, it's increduble to see how many buildings they include in the game. It feel so real to be in this post-apocalyptic world. The ruins give me goosebump and a huge feeling of melancholia...

    I remember when I first started playing this game, I had arrived at Red Rocks amphitheater and it took me a minute to realize where I was. I had just been there for a concert the week prior and the goosebumps I got when I figured it out were crazy. Something to keep in mind through the lore of the game the earth was made completely barren. Which could mean anything from just no life to a complete crash of the ecosystem. Although the earth still had an atmosphere it's all but guaranteed that the earth's ozone was destroyed this most likely would have caused a new ice age in turn literally freezing stuff in time. It was said to be hundreds of years before Minerva was able to crack the code to disabled all the faro robots so that is a decent chunk of time where not to much damage to infrastructure would have occurred. Eventually Aether and Poseidon would start detoxing the earth which would have been a very slow process so and with demeter next in line and the areas we have seen based on tree life I'd say maybe 3 to 4 hundred years before the start of the game is when see started and that's only based on the trees in the frozen wilds. In cold climates trees take forever to grow and all there it's been estimated a few hundred years for a tree to become fully mature in the cold. But I dont think most of those trees are fully matured due to the face that the trees in the shadow carjas territory are much much larger. Humans most likely being the last to arrive are most likely really new. Going based on how we use to age I'd say the elderly are probably late fifties. Using a rough guess of at most prolly 200 years out of the shelters that's gives plenty of time for different cultures to form.

    This game gave me one of my favorite moments in gaming. The first ruin that I saw in-game was the Air Force chapel, and it hit me immediately. "That's the Air Force Chapel. Holy crap. We're in _Colorado?_" It was a blast finding all the places in-game that I knew and had grown up visiting.
    Red Rocks. Mile High Stadium. Cherry Creek reservoir (probably what the big in-game lake in the ruins of Denver is supposed to be). Arches National Park (there are many more real arches in game than what this video shows). Bryce. Monument Valley. Lake Powell. Yellowstone. Tetons. Bridal veil falls. Shoot, they even put in the wind turbines at the mouth of Spanish Fork canyon. Many more, too many to list.
    It's just...how often do you get to wander around a post-apocalyptic version of the place where you grew up? Maybe for those who live in NYC or LA it's no big deal, but for me it was huge.
    It's all compressed for expediency, of course. In-game you can run from Colorado Springs to Denver in a few minutes, then over the Rockies to the Colorado Plateau. Yellowstone is a convenient hike away from Denver. It had to be that way or you'd spend days just walking to get anywhere.

  • @jesseomollo9405
    @jesseomollo9405 2 роки тому +217

    You know I never thought much of these places but now if the world ever enters into a post apocalyptic scenario like this, it is sad that our world would be lost and forgotten and these structures would mean nothing to those in the future.

For me I would like to go to say London. Seeing Europe and the historical locations in ruins would be cool. This is what I love about the AC games. You get to see historical eras. That's a shame that there is no "virtual tour" mode where all of the real life locations are clearly marked on the map. 90% of gamers including me are missing all of it.

    • @karma307
      @karma307 2 роки тому +1

      @@arlyncruz bueno eso tardará otros 5 años y realmente dependerá de como termine la historia del que viene en febrero, si es definitivo hasta ahí, pero alargar aveces una saga puede hacer que su calidad caiga. Horizon tiene una historia que solo puede idearse dos tipos de enemigos potenciales, alguna tribu enemiga o las máquinas malvadas. En la primera fueron las máquinas y la segunda la tribu enemiga con ayuda de máquinas. God of war se pudo alargar por la gran cantidad de dioses enemigos que hay en la mitología así que es una historia que se puede explotar con bastantes secuelas cosa que ya pasó. Pero en un mundo post apocalíptico los enemigos son fuertes pero son limitados así que cuando derrotes ese enemigo como mucho tendrás historia para 2 secuelas más máximo. Si es que quieres calidad de la historia.

    Another impressive element when you think about it is all the open areas that are IRL national parks or monuments, Lack any ruins of extensive exploitation. meaning despite how bad things got and despite how powerful the megacorps got, Clearly the national park system survived.
    also I guess Glenn Canyon Dam is pretty darn sturdy if Powell is still there. Though admittedly its basically a big hunk of concrete arch wedged into a canyon so it probably will outlast humanity with or without help from killbots.

    I live in Denver and I had no idea Nora lands are basically colorado with devils grief being denver and thirst being colorado springs. Blew me away when I started doing vantages. Colfax avenue is the most dangerous road in Denver between midnight and 6 am so its interesting its got modeled. I love how Littleton, where I was born and raised, and parker, where I live now could in theory be on the map.

    Justamente estoy volviendo a pasarme Horizon Zero Dawn antes de Forbidden West y lo mejor del juego es el apartado visual, y no por que sus gráficos sean realistas, sino por la recreación de muchos escenarios y la cantidad de detalles que tienen. Brutales.

      Curioso, porque para mí lo mejor es la narrativa y el worlbuilding. La historia de ciencia ficción que hay detrás es muy interesante. Aunque obviamente los gráficos y el apartado artístico entra por los ojos.
