Really nice! I’ve been waiting for them to make a larger one. I just bought a Nathan4071 Sasquatch rod. I think I will get one of these too. I’m making my entire load out USA made. It’s been tough to find things. I do have their ripspool 💪🏻🇺🇸👍🏻

I was thinking the same thing,we were on our way for more products made in USA but if all this doesn't work out,who knows.
This is still made in China son. The fero rod is soft,that's an indication of "made in China" Pay 70$ for a 5$ Ferro rod, is the reason that Chinese, copy their product and sell it for far less. You can get a full box of Chinese ferro rods with 70$ keep some of them for personal use, sell the rest and make more than 70$ that Exotac asks for their Chinese rods.

I made them a couple of years ago and finally sold out. But I had a lot of people say they couldn't wear that because their friends would make fun of them.

If you like magnesium, try the fire fast fire starter. I think it's pretty cool. You can shave the magnesium and the African fatwood.

There's something to be said for softer ferro. I have several ferro's. The exotacs don't throw sparks they throw molten lead. I can start a tinder bundle with my firerod (the smaller one to this one) than I can with a 1/2" 8" Uberleben.

Too rich for my blood, but their polystriker is nice for about $14. I think their lanyards have firecord in them too.
i would cut off the cord and replace it with some type of fire cord. (with a fire starter in the cord). have a good day boss

Exotac is sold out. 11/26/2020. Can't find it on Amazon. Only replacement rod.

I have bought some stuff made in China that is a copy of a more expensive product. I don't need to tell you that there's a reason why it's cheaper. Then again, most of my pocket knives are made in China, the EDC now is an $8.00 knife from HF and works great for what I use it for. My son bought a Benchmade and the quality is far more superior as well as the price.
Half the cost of that thing is a little storage compartment and the machinery used to create it and the threads on the rod, ill stick with just the simple rod without everything else

Is the rod itself made in the United States, or the rod made elsewhere and customized and assembled in the United States?
I am pretty sure the ferry rods are imported. I have been told nobody in the US makes the actual rods anymore.

Still would be nice to see made in the USA, but imho, it's a close second if you hate what the Chicoms are doing.

60.00 dollars!!! lol. I get two 1/2'' x 6'' EricX Light on Amazon for 14.00 dollars that work as well as any ferro rod. Great video and review but for that price they can keep it. . Happy Thanksgiving.

I totally agree the ferro rod probably came from China anyway the handle may be American made but still not $60. Not trying to hate on your review but it is over priced in my opinion. OH and I live in Georgia!!

For 60 bucks just get a lightning strike fire starter.
I like the Lightning Strike. This ferro rod is a lot bigger. But you do need an additional way to scrape the rod. It's good to have choices.
Black scout blatantly ripped off the exotac firerod & he has it made in China.....
Ridiculously overpriced and not worth the price. Much comparable rods on the market for a fraction of the price.
