Still one of my absolute favorite videos about 40k fluff. The descriptions of the Legion's temperament, personality, identity, and ideals have heavily influenced me in fleshing out the place and people my D&D Barbarian comes from.
This video changed my whole outlook on the White Scars. I knew a bit about them but not nearly as much as I should have. They are definitely the most misunderstood Legion and easily one of the most underrated. What impacted me the most was the lines from about 29:15 to 31:00 . The White Scars are confident in who they are and what they do, like a ship diving straight through stormy tides head on. They do not allow the opinions of those who won't even take the time to understand their ways drag them down. Confidence tempered by wisdom is one of their greatest strengths as they do not fly too close to the sun like Icarus. The Khan is underrated as a Primarch and I hope he will return in 40k!
I have read Scars recently and By the emperor The White Scars are just what I wanted them to be and more And because of that book They are probably my favourite loyalist legion And my favourite chapter in the current 40k
Chris Wraight is a superb writer and, as he did you, drew me in to loving the White Scars. If you've not read 'Path of Heaven' already you're in for a treat as it's even better than 'Scars'.
Ive always found Jaghatai Khan to be one of the finest sons of the emperor not because space Ghenghis Khan nor because i actualy love the whitescars but instead because he was closer to Primarchs that betrayed the emperor then those loyal to him and he remained loyal to the Great uniter.
And he was actually also in odds with the Big E. Mainly I think about the psykers. Librarius was Jaghatais baby more than Magnuses, since J saw that control and rules where needed for them.

I think this is my favorite episode, because it brought me so much more love for the white scars, I could tell they had so much potential but you really make them feel unique.
Looking back on the nearly 2 years since I took a serious interest in 40k, it’s a real shame that a video of this quality on the White Scars didn’t exist until today. When I first got into the lore, I fell into the trap so many others have been snared by; I thought the White Scars to be somewhat bland and forgettable, and turned my interests elsewhere. While I love Alfabusa’s look at them in the pilot episode of the TTS podcast, the Scars were still left wanting for a more informative and less satirical look at their history and nature. You have filled this gap admirably, Historitor! Now that I know their character a bit better, I find myself liking the 5th Legion and their Primarch quite a bit more. 👍
I never realized how cool the White Scara were until videos like these came to be. They got me to read about their Herasy Lore, and the Khan. They got me to buy the supplement. They got me to ride... Thank you Occulus for making me realize I want to be a White Scar. Ave Imperator. Gloria in Excelsus Terra!
This is why the White Scars are my favorite legion. They are practical, but not as painfully organized ans ridgid of the ultramarines. They have a deep culture, like the space wolves. They are kinder than other legions, not to the extent of the salamanders, but they are not uncaring like other legions. They are their own warriors, who will fight how they please.
This is the legion i been waiting for, the Scars have always drawn me in, finally got the Scars audiobook and been drawn into it and the timing is perfect.

Hai Chogoris! I recently finished the book on this legion and must say that compared to the order and strictures of its brothers the scars were truly something else. And i loved it!
Though not soaked in machismo of form, or the roar of battle incalculable, I have a great love for the peaceful, quiet camaraderie of the three marines at 7:55. All the better to define the litany singing their quiet pride.
Malevolence has some good lore. It really expanded on what I thought of the white scars and brought me to respect them more. Speaking of such: how are you going to treat the blood angels? Given their pre-unification legion character and tactics are so drastically different to post, will it be two videos for tactics and disposition, or just one longer one?
Your accent brings a nobility and countenance to your material. Clearly spoken with just a hint of your native dialect. Outstanding. You should read novels like ' a border prince ' does. Or even consider a podcast. This was above par from start to finish. Absolutely outstanding.

I never liked the Vth; it changed when i read the short story for them in the Armaggeddon Omnibus. This cideo cemented the idea that story sparked: the withe scars are a damn cool legion!
I was relistening to this and may have one small correction. It appears that even after Jaghatai was found, the White Scars still had some recruitment efforts on Terra. Torghun Khan was a Terran. Apparently, he was recruited to the Luna Wolves but was reassigned to the White Scars.
Wow, the Star Hunters were the Alpha Legion before the Alpha Legion. I wonder if one of the successor chapters, possibly led by an ancient Thulian veteran, took that name.
Does anyone else loathe that first art of Jaghatai used? The arched eyebrows, the squinting eyes, the expression, how squat and round he looks. None of the regal poise the Khan should have. None of the dignity.
Didn't know the 5th Legion had such a reputation and history before they became the White Scars. And when they did, the transition was so, smooth as it was between the two cultures. I kinda evenvy the Scars for how they turned out. Because I think there is a difference between an 8th Legionnaire, and a Night Lord. One is a disciplined, cold Warrior of the Imperium; they others, is a sadistic murder.
If you haven't yet, read Jaghatai Khan, it shows you exactly how different (and to their merit) they are from the other legions. The 8th was sadly plagued by both its duty and the side affects that come with visions. Their black and white view of justice didn't help either. Scars have that healthy dose of "i just don't care" that Night Lords sadly didn't.
