You got me in to architecture
As a recent masters graduate, my best advice is
1.) Do not be afraid to strongly defend your work and argue your points constructively at critiques. You know your own design more than a professor or anyone else ever will. Don’t tuck your tail between your legs and just “okay..” after every point they make. Believe it or not they appreciate you standing your ground for the building as it shows how passionate you are about your work.
(This isn’t to be confused with making excuses on why you left things out of the project don’t do that)
2.) Do not be afraid to use scrap and recycled material for models to save money. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve spent $0 on a model utilizing scraps and recycled materials while other students spent hundreds and I still got a better score. Arch school isn’t pay to win.
Completely agree, One thing i've noticed is that unless you have a really open minded reviewer, it wil always seem like they are just trying to rip your project to pieces. Use the critiques as a stepping stone almost like a tutorial conversation with a few more people watching ;) So don't stress about them, especially in first year it will all seem daunting to begin with. P.s. do the work when they tell you to do it, no joke, it builds up Fast!!!
Hi David! I wish to find out from you what software you would recommend I get started with in order to comfortably express ideas for presentations
@@veronicaphiri7432 for drafting and 3-D modeling I find Revit to be superior while most students prefer Rhino and for presentations the Adobe apps like illustrator and Indesign are the best route as they are low price monthly subscriptions.
Would you say the materials for models get expensive? Do you have any tips on how to get around any expensive costs for materials in general? I’m interested in landscape architecture and I know that they also utilize a lot of models
I'm a medical student, why am i watching this
That's a good question. I'm curious as well 🤣 good luck on your studies !!!
@@Moochers aw thanks
bc a small part of you wanted to be an architect
@@YOHON I really admire architecture, unfortunately there's architects in my country like there is sand at the beach
Same.. but i wished to become architect💔
How did UA-cam know that I am interested in architecture? 😨
That algorithm is a stalker.....
Lmfaooo frrr. Doing my first semester 😂
Same 💀
I feel the same way
Juss like how it knows I am an architecture students.
What I’m understanding from this:
-Have multiple flash drives that are labeled and organized
-Look back at previous work to find new inspiration
-Use Google drive first for rough work then move it to word or other programs afterwards
-Schedule work
-Do your own research
-Read 1 or more architecture field guides
-Save some extra money when you have it
-Competitions matter
That's a great "In a nutshell" version. Exactly what I'm talking about!
Except for the Google Drive. I work out of Google Drive ( called Google Stream)
A tip from a second year achi student: don’t forget to allow yourself to stop and rest, at least one full day per week. Don’t overwork yourself. Many burn out and quit. Play the long game.
I'm not one, but I can fairly understand, and say yes, that is a fact.
My big sis back in her college days always pulled an all-nighter, she said she was already lucky if she got 3-6 hours of sleep. Some or most times her work wasn't still finished (I even, at most times, wake up 2-3 in the early morning and see her still doing her archi work), and in the weekends, she's 24/7 lying in bed, sleeping like a log, only wakes up when she needed to use the bathroom, eat or drink. Sis didn't even bother changing out of her uniform and just directly goes to sleep as she is when she gets home.
I was still pretty young, like around 11-14 years of age at that time, so I wasn't thinking into it that much. Now I'm nearly sixteen and thinking back, holy crap, my big sis wasn't having the best time of her life at that time.
Thanks to that, the household chores formerly done by her were given to me and my twin bro.
(A family of seven here, a dad and a mom, one big sis, two big bros, and us two twins bros, me being the youngest)
The trip to her uni and back home were also really long and tiresome, guess that becomes a common thing when you enter college.
She had a 3 year course of architect learning before dropping out, quite a shame that she only needed 2 more years to graduate college. But she's now a contact centre agent and is a really good illustrator that also does a little part-time job of drawing anime-manga-ish stuff.

Me: I am a high school senior looking into architecture
UA-cam: HERE YA GO THE PERFECT CHANNEL FOR YOU
Me: *has never once looked up anything Architectural related on UA-cam* HOW BUT ALSO THANKS FOR SHARING THIS WITH ME THE MAGICAL PEOPLE OF UA-cam
Haha! I get you. Sometimes I think about something and a few days letter UA-cam comes through. IT both creepy and rewarding haha!
UA-cam is owned by Google so if you looked up architecture schools it will show you more stuff related to your google search.
I'm 25. I've always been a business student but i wasn't in love. I got bored fast, would get distracted etc. I started praying and asking Jesus to help me figure out what i love. Architecture/interior design❤🙏🏼 I found it
P.s it's never to late to learn new things or find your passion in something at a late age
100 percent!
this brings me a lot of peace as I am a believer as well, but struggled so much to commit to what I always liked, arch. I always wanted God to push it right in front of me but my overthinking never allowed me to see. Im currently trying to transfer out and pursue a B.arch, so thank you for commenting as this is a reminder to seek God and pray for help and a clearing for my future passions. God bless you!!
Hello D.M. Thank you very much for this comment. I am a recent business school graduate and have been working in the data world for a year now. Absolutely hate it and wanting to switch my career to architecture while I am still young (24 this year.) What type of program are you currently attending or attended? Master's or something else? And do you agree that, you have to work harder than your peers due to the lack of prior experience in the architecture realm? And any advice for me as a fellow business student who is trying to tip my foot into the arch world? Thank you very much and hope you and your love ones are healthy and safe!
I am also a Business Management Student but will proceed to architecture in college
I'm completely like u sis. Im 21, was studying econs and now Im in Italia to follow my true passion.
Golden tip from a first year architecture student:
Don't procrastinate seriously... work starts building up from the 2nd week already
It's only the 1st month and there are 12 people who have quit that I know of
And I am now for the 2nd time on the verge of a mental breakdown lmao, no time for parting if you wanna be one of the better students
architecc LP as a recent Masters grad, I’d say two things to maybe help you out for where you are at now-
- Just remember where you stand as a first year and be humble about knowing that you don’t know anything about architecture yet and that you will graduate many years from now still not knowing many things that architects need to know. Too many people feel like they are architecture experts now since they are in the major and it can really revisit you and bite you if you have that mentality.
- If you are having too many mental breakdowns, be sure just to strongly consider if this is for you. Your mental health is very important. The reason I say this is because people assume school is hard but once they start working it’s all rainbows and sunshine from there when in reality the workload you have now will be the workload for the rest of your life if you continue this. Just learn to embrace the hard work and use your time to do what you’re truly passionate about.
@@David-bx2mw thanks for your advice! And it's all going a lot better now, I'm actually having a lot of fun doing projects especially now since it's all coming to an end ~ and while I still have a lot to learn, I can finally understand a little what exactly the teachers are expecting
I, for a 2 weeks was doubting if it was anything for me, but after overcoming those weeks I don't think anything else would fit me personality so well... tho you never know, it's only my 1st year after all
A wise man said
Sacrificing few years of partying
Will lead you a freedom
Just take this time to learn your own process. Over the months you’ll be able to create and critique simultaneously which makes things a lot easier and more efficient.
@@architecclp2647 thanks for leaving an update! how are you doing now?
1 think I wish I'd known before starting architecture: Don't.
Why
True as fuck haha
It's just... A lot. I actually went into engineering after my architecture degree and now spend most of my time cursing architects for being idiots and demanding the impossible. But architecture school is just hell.
Yeeeh it’s hell I’m transferring course next year after 2 years studying archi...not for everyone I guess!
@@laurabilling3561 i have study architecture in algeria and its realy hell 😂 now i understund thatits the same every where 😪
first month of arch school has been harsh D:
It can be. I've been there. Learn to manage your time and it will get easier. Focus on making schedules of the things you have to do and plan on doing those things on time so that you do not fall behind. You got this!
Time management is huge in architecture and is something you’ll get better at through the years. Learn as much as you can from all areas of art so that you can draw from those things to use within your own projects.
*rushes to the scanner before my work ceases to exist*
Haha! Yes; if you can't get to a scanner, at least take pictures or use a scanning app on your phone. You can always go back and re-scan on an actual scanner, but try and save often!
Im an Architecture and urbanism student in Brazil hoping to move to Canada and work as architect there. I'm in the second year and I'm so glad I found your video now and not later, at the end of the course. I think some of the things you said probably kinda already have crossed our minds at some point but hearing it from someone who's been there and regret not following them is so validating! Thank you, it really did encourage me to stop making up excuses ;)
Thank you for your detailed response. I know what you mean; the same thoughts used to cross my mind but I never shared those thoughts with anyone. I'm really glad this video offered some help. That's the right idea: no excuses!
why canada
Sorry, I'm late but as a Canadian most will welcome you with open arms. if you're still thinking about it DON NOT MOVE TO ONTARIO the living cost is way too high. glad you're thinking about moving here well if you still are.
For those of you who studied architecture : What things would you have liked to know?
Fusing both architectural-design,& construction-of engineering?
"How do you know if architecture is not for you"
Schools teach you how to design, they don’t really teach you the “rules” of architecture. I wish they would have included that in the curriculum even if only slightly. Mostly it’s just learning that stuff on your own time. Great work man, still one of the most underrated arch channels I’ve found. Cheers🍻
I have studied one year of architecture, and I totally wasn't prepared for it. It wasn't my first choice, and I would've liked to know that it's insanely hard to study architecture if it's not your first choice. I would've liked to know that you either should go for architecture completely or just search something else.
Fabian Van Der Elst may I ask why exactly was hard for you, or what you didn't like? Just because I'm not sure if I would like this study field or not
I’m studying interior architecture which is a new major and still being introduced to the world. Its basically the connection between architecture and interior and interior design. And its usually applied to buildings that are already exists and needs renovation. This video helped me so much! Thank you!
Hey! That's really great. A lot of work that I do (professional) is actually interior architecture. It's quite common actually.
That’s cool! In my region its so not common and i have to explain it and it’s potential every time i mention it to someone lol. Interesting if that what you practice! Do more videos about it maybe?
Big Belly yo, I’m moving across the country so I can study this next year. Would you recommend it?
You forgot to talk about sleep deprivation and lack of social life.
In my school, we had to keep everything we made and take pictures of it cause at the end of every semester, we were asked to make a logbook and it was graded
That's great that your school made you do that!
Sleep deprivation, yes totally. Lack of social life, quite the opposite actually, lots of group projects and party's. Feels like being part of a huge family haha
In my country, most people who take up architecture already have money. Student loan isn’t really big here. The parents pay for tuiton
My personal experience is that anything that you could do with prior time. Do it! Don’t let thing to the last day. I could always deliver my work on time because I managed to have done the job in advance. Architecture is not difficult, but requires a high level of dedication and resistance...
They will give you books of extremely valuable information regarding tech, history, sustainability, and drawings, but if you don’t devote your free time towards delving deeper into practice and the architectural topics of your interest, you will eventually find that the firm you have been hired into isn’t the one you really wish you were in.
You should do a video showing some of your old School projects (those you did save haha)!
You should've asked for something he didn't save. That'd be funny :p
Lol! I just stared at my wall for like 10 seconds thinking about this haha. Honestly, it would have been something like that Tenacious D song "Tribute" - where they sing about how they made the greatest song in the world but then they forgot it. I would have been like , "this is the best project any one has ever made - but i have no proof"
I never thought about this. Sounds like a cool idea! I'll have fun looking back and critiquing my own work . Thank you!
@@Moochers hahaha yeah, that'd be really funny haha

This is my second year studying architecture and this video is great!! Thanks god I have photos and copies of every project I’ve made.
I'm glad you've documented your projects. Great job!
bro, this is a godsend. I've been looking to FIU's architecture program for the past couple of months and it's been a bit daunting and confusing. This vid came up in my suggested feed and I was hyped once I saw those red tiles! This cleared up a whole lot. Thank you!
I'm glad it helped you. You're welcome.
I’m currently getting ready to transfer to Cal Poly for architecture and one major thing needed is a portfolio. Saving your work from the beginning is really key especially for a good portfolio. Nice vids.
That's super exciting! Congrats!
Could’ve used this advice three years ago, but I’ll apply it from now lol
I know what you mean, but honestly, it's not too late at all to start using some of this info.
I just wanted to say that yours is the first channel ever that I saw (and which I liked) that talked honestly about so many things that anybody tell us about this career
Like the boring side or advices
you can't imagine how your videos helps
And personally, I like how you make your videos :) I never get bored watching them!
Hey! Thanks for the compliment. The plan is to always be honest with people so that they get a better idea about the career.
Great video! I studied engineering in school, but I resonated with a lot of your tips! It's great life advice, especially for young adults who have little experience in living independent.
Also, I kept my university work in the same format, and synced to Google Drive. Having access to my old work and class resources had helped me immensely in school.
I'm glad you were able to save all your work. It's awesome going back and looking at what you did a few years ago, isn't it?
Did architecture for 4 years in college then switch to construction management, the best decision of my life!!!
What does it take to become a construction manager and what is the job like? I'm interested in both!
Instant sub! I’m getting my masters in archi and starting school in a couple weeks! This info was GOLD
your channel is so underrated!! keep it up. you’re going to blow up soon i can feel it
That really means a lot. Thanks for sharing that comment with me :]
I’m currently in D1 at FIU, this video couldn’t be any more perfect for me rn. Thank you so much. literally jumped out of my chair when I saw PCA lol
Haha that's super cool! Good luck on all your studies and have fun!
Aspiring Filipino architect here and currently taking my apprenticeship already. I really like your content in every vid. It helps me stay motivated for my future. Thank bro.
😀🍻
Hey! Im from ph too and im considering to take architecture for college. It worries me that i do know how to draw but i dont draw a lot buildings.. But how was the experience on being an architectuee student in ph?
I'm in 6th Grade and I'm struggling on what I want to do with my life, but is interested in art, but not a certain form of it. Your especially informative, artistically engaging videos inspire me to pursue architecture as a career. I would like to say thank you for helping me find an interest, and keep up all of your work! 👍🏻 P:S: You deserve way more subs!
I know this is not what you want to hear but you are way toooo young to put so much pressure on you! I think you should take a lot of time to explore things that interest you! Read books and watch videos about things that interest you and try doing those things yourself. Don't worry if you're not good at something, that comes after, but focus on finding what exactly you enjoy doing! I'm glad that this video helped you but don't worry about setting your future in stone just yet. Have fun and explore. Thank you for you comment and your compliment, and I wish you lots of luck!
Thank you mooch, sure will do! 😃
Thank u for sharing.I just submitted my competition stuffs yesterday.Competition is definitely fun!
Awesome! Let us know how it goes!
As a former architecture student... I agree with EVERYTHING mentioned in this!
Cool :D Thanks for the comment!
Merry Christmas and Happy holidays. thanks for being there for us.
atm I’m studying interior architecture and tbh this helps me too, thank you!
Really cool. Thanks for letting me know. Good luck in your studies!
3rd year of architecture school here. I love you for making this video! Sometimes I had to go back and watch it to remind myself. One thing is as long you have passion and good stamina to keep up your work of process will make good progress and survive, makes yourself to try work out 40 minutes a day (4 times a week). You might loose sleep, and if you willingly want to make sacrifice you’ll be fine. Do what you love or you’ll feel like it’s daunting task and feel under pressure.
I am a graphic and ux designer who is currently finishing up my architecture degree and I have no regrets. Architecture rewires your brain and teaches you how to design with a process driven approach which can be applied to ANY design field.
I'm graduating this year and planning to take architecture i've been researching alot to try and learn from many architecture channels as possible to have a good insight on architecture. Thank you for your efforts on making videos and sharing experiences!
Check out my video on things I recommend you do before starting school. I just posted it a couple of days ago. Good luck!
Congratulations on the channel man! I can’t really do UA-cam anymore but seeing your growth is amazing!
Thanks dude!!!! How come you can't anymore?!
after corona and quarantine, watching your videos and navigating Fiu through it is so nostalgic
Dude how awesome was it to see a fellow FIU Alumni show casing our school.. Ive always watched your vids and never knew you attended FIU. It brought back great memories seeing our design studio, Business school and all.. Seems like we all should have taken ProPrac much more seriously.... Great vid..
Gonna give my thesis in 3 months and I couldn’t agree more on all the things you’ve mentioned!
Wow, good luck! :D
isit just me who likes to do my hands on projects but hates to stay up late everytime like im ok for a while but not everytime
Thank you for sharing your experiences!. I think it really helps especially for a guy like me who started landscape architecture this past semester
I'm in year two of architecture, and it's shocking how quickly the pace and size of projects increases. First we designed shelters for hikers, now a year later we are working on how to fill a GIANT old factory with new development. And, the first year was very much about one-man-tasks, now we are almost always working in teams. Architecture wasn't the obvious choice for me but I don't regret it: it is super inspiring, you meet a lot of fun creative people and you get a lot of freedom in your studies. A major challenge for me is staying organized, you create a LOT of things that you need to somehow archive (I still haven´t figured out the best way for this yet). I go to a Swedish architecture school which has a more technical profile, maybe that differs from the american education. Anyhow, I know for a fact that you will NEVER stop studying when choosing a career in architecture, you have to embrace that you will learn something new every day for the rest of your life.
Architecture school is a design boot camp that makes you learn your process and open your mind to every possibility and teaches you how how to argue why your idea is the best.
Dude I'm heading to architecture school next year and this video helped me a lot! Thank you so much !
Super cool; can't wait to hear about your experience. Good luck!
Hi, I'm an Architectural designer, this is great. Thank you for this material. I'm also trying to help with my Autocad tutorials.
Super cool! Good luck with your channel!
I love how down to earth this video is, you seem like a very caring person :) im a high school student planning to get into an arts school on a scholarship, and i appreciate all of your advice, thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Good luck!
EXCELLENT VIDEO! I live in a pre-fabricated house here in West Palm Beach, Florida, a Sears-Robuck kit that my mother and I believe was originally built in the early 1930s. Regrettably, building records from long ago are nearly impossible to procure now because the county has a practice of burning their records every decade. However, even though it was a Sears kit done in the "Craftsman" style, it is clear that someone put a lot of time and care into how it was built. It feels like a proper home instead of a product. For instance, the floors are made out of Dade County pine, a wood that is now extinct. More modern structures can be beautiful, there just needs to be care.
Thanks! Thanks for sharing that awesome story with us about your life. I did not know about these Kit houses. I had to google it to see, couldn't believe it. Still have some more to research on that; super interesting. Again, thanks for sharing !!!!
I’m in my 3rd year of my master program !thanks for the advice !! I notice I already made some mistakes but better late than never ! ✌️
Thank you so much for making these videos! These are so helpful, I've been thinking on becoming an architect and these really help. Also, it's kinda exciting you went to FIU
You're welcome! I'm glad they help out!
As requested in the clip - Podcasts about personal finance: Listen Money Matters, Mad Fientist, Good Financial Cents, Money Peach and You Need a Budget. Really helpful video, great insight from someone who has been through the program, beautiful pan-shots and choice angles of various buildings.
Thanks!
why is this video more helpful then all the ones I've watched combined. Thank you! Also I love the clips, where were these taken??
I'm glad you enjoyed it that much! there are two locations in this video :
1) Florida International University campus
2) Brickell City Center
Both in Miami, FL
Just finished my third semester of Arch in that school. Thank you for the tips. Will take them into account.
That's great! Good luck in the future!
Nice video. I really liked that you disclosed that you designed empty buildings without thinking about the whole finished college project.
I have an engineering degree and for a few years I worked for a theatrical supply / lighting company. One of the most interesting tasks we did was service work on theatres. I had also worked as a technician and production manager in some of the same spaces AND visited some of the venues as a customer so I got to see many aspects of how they functioned. It was surprising how many of the venues had problems and faults that were the result of poor architecture and design. I'm sure they fulfilled the client's brief but that shouldn't be the ultimate goal. My advice to architecture students would be talk to end users as if the project is really going to be built. So if your project is something remotely specialised - a restaurant, cinema, bus station, conference centre, sports facility, TV studio etc then find out how they function in the real world by talking to people (the workers too not just the PR person or the managers) and especially ask to see the side the pubic don't have access to. Then take some of that on board when you start to design.
That's some good advice. Suggesting the client to hire a specialist for the specific program is also appropriate. 🍻😃
I'm only in 9th grade and I know that iI want to go into architecture or engineering and all of this is really informative but i'm so scared for the future. ahhhh!!!
Same
i had crippling anxiety about the future at your age, it SUCKS but it's totally normal. my advice, as a former anxious teen, is to remind yourself that by the time you've graduated and are going off to college, you'll have several more years of experience. it makes a world of difference. in essence: **don't imagine your current self trying to juggle all of the elements of adulthood.** i know it feels like you're RIGHT on the cusp of being thrown into the real world, but you have a lot of time to experience life and round yourself out as an individual. when it's time, it'll still feel scary, but you'll know yourself better and understand what you can handle.
good luck!!
If you’re getting anxiety only worrying about “the future” don’t do architecture you will drop out within the first semester... save your money to do this degree you have to be mentally numb to stress/anxiety or you will fail. Period.
Taking building trades at a community college and liked the blueprint and design part of my classes. Now thinking of furthering my education in architecture.
No, I'm not an architect, but I have a suggestion.
Im 45, and have been in and out of construction work most of my life.
I have always been interested in working on the opposite end.
I seriously suggest, if you can, between semesters, try and find a construction company to work with.
So you can actually see how everything comes together on that end.
It may give you a better understanding of what materials work together, and what doesn't work together.
It definitely couldn't hurt.
I'm thinking about following a childhood dream.....that is becoming an architect!!!
Hello bro , am 30 this year . I have never study architecture before but that was my dream job as a kid . Would you think it will be harsh for me to study because i want to acquire the knowledge i dnt want to have any regrets that i didnt study when i could have ... any though for a mate sir ?
Thank you so much, I'm Dominican and I study architecture in Italy I'm on my second trimester, I'm glad I've found you now
I'm glad to hear that. Good luck 😃🍻
Thank you. I’ve been interested architecture lately and possibly planning on switching my major to architecture.
I wasn't able to join a competition but after putting enough effort into the work, my project was featured on PLATFORM at WUHO Gallery. Amazing experience 😁🔥🔥

I'm a Freshman in high school and I know its only been like 2 months since school started (at least for me) but I already know I want to do architect because I have been interested in it for a little while now and I don't know much, but it is a passion of mine I want to pursue, and my family members keep telling me I would be great at it because I love designing houses on video games like Minecraft and sims and such, and they see what I create and tell me I would do wonderful at it, I know playing videos games is nowhere near close to what an actual architect does but I still want to move forward with wanting to be an architect and thank you for this video because it gave me some good tips for when I'm older and studying architect! :)
I'm at my fifth semester in architecture school, and I'm joining my first competition. Last year I almost joined one but I was too scared about not being able to fit it in my schedule with all the other projects from my classes, or about not knowing enough but I really wished I would've tried. This time I pushed myself to try and enter, so we'll see how it goes, the experience will be worth it no matter the results.
That's really great!!! I wish you lots of luck! Let me know how it goes. I'm excited for you!

Oh really? I'm Indian too and I'm interested in architecture. I'm in the 11th grade now. Is there something I should know about architecture colleges in India that wasn't mentioned in the video.
It would really be a big help...
can totally relate to everything mentioned in this vid! They don’t teach you everything in architecture school; one must really initiate to read more arch’tl books as well as practice drawing to acquire better knowledge and skills. Also, I personally think it’s hard to get through architecture school if you’re alone, so find people who you share same sentiments with bc I swear, uni life will be a bit easier.
Yes, great point. Friends will make the experience so pleasant!
Thanks! I was struggling cause I feel I've got some issues people comment on here and thought it was only me... But hearing your voice, makes us relate, connect and improve. Thanks for it! Greetings from Latinamerica.
First year design student, its 2am where I am but this video reminded me to continue working on a competition I want to enter, my first university competition ah D:
Glad it helped. Go compete! I wish you lots of luck!

I know what you mean :D
I’m a senior in high school and thinking about becoming an architect or studying interior design I’d like to know if you can help me out by explaining what you went through learning to become one and what you needed
I'm finishing my first year of spatial design. One thing I learned: don't rely on the lecturers or whatever is taught in class. Most things you must go out of your way and seek out yourself. If you are genuinely interested and study it in your spare time you will do extremely well.
Interior design is great..Just do a lot of internships and get practical experience. what you'll learn from there wont come from nowhere else! It'll make u ready for opportunities that'll come, so u dont have to miss them. I'm an interior designer - to say, but anyday i can work as a set designer, stylist, event designer, visual merchandiser.. I'm into balcony makeovers at the moment. You'll be able to do anything spatial basically. Focus on the bigger picture. Goodluck 💗
Sukirti Gupta. Do you mind showing me one of your works to get an idea of what I have to aim for . Like one of your first sketch
Thank you!! Great video. Can’t wait to start school next year.
That's amazing! Next fall?
@@Moochers Yes! Just waiting to hear back from my applications:)
Thank you so much for those tips! I really appreciate them. I’m an American citizen but was raised in Mexico, so by the time I came back to the United States my accent was super thick. I have been trying to improve it but I know it is going to be a huge step back when I enter UTSA.
i'm a second year student in a landscape architecture program.. very stressful, not sure if it's for me tbh but i have no idea what else i would study.. my favorite part of landscape architecture is the ornamental horticultural aspect but most of it is larger scale urban planning sort of things so i rarely can play with little details like what specific flowers should go where.. :/// i don't have any universities around me that offer degrees for ornamental horticulture.
Thank you so much for this video ✨
Thanks for sharing ^^
Loved this video! Thank so much for the info
this is kind of interesting since i havent gone into architecture for my uni, or if i can even get in, but most of the tips i have already been doing them bc of my course in poly. (we have that in singapore like after secondary school)
ps. my course in poly was retail and hospitality design but im the last batch :(
basically we learn interior and some architecture but also learn things specifically needed for retail spaces or malls and hotels! its p cool bc we get to learn the branding side of things and also electrically and a lot of things
That actually sounds like a great experience :D Are you enjoying it?
Dave Ramsey is a good financial channel and podcast.
Thanks for the tips, I just started my architecture studies this month...
What!? So exciting! Good luck!
So my suggestion is probably a great idea!!! Especially if you are going in the the commercial part of construction...
would you mind explaining salaries as well and how much an architect makes starting off? x I love your channel !
This really really really depends on the location and the firm. It's very common in the US to start out making around 40k a year to draft on Autocad or Revit or do some other things such as site/field verification etc. The more motivated you are, the faster you can increase this number. You just have to be willing to jump to another firm if your firm is not giving you opportunities.
Also look up some firms you're interested in or local firms on Glassdoor. They'll give you an average on starting salary
Thank you for your video! Loved it nd it surprisingly makes sense not only re Architecture - I mean financial advices, etc! It's good to be prepared and informed in all major life spheres)
I am going into grade 10 in September I've always wanted to do architecture since I was 10 it was kind of a no-brainer and I've found it's my passion well I think it is. I love anything to do with art. although a lot of pressure was put on me for architectural engineering and I did explore my other interests because I knew it may not be what I wanted to do but by now and 5 almost 6 years of exploring and researching all my interests I think I've decided to stick with it although I still have 2 years to decide I'm not rushing anything and i will continue to explore my interests and see if I end up back here if i do I will watch this video again when I'm applying to university.
Every single piece of advice is brilliant. Thank you. I can totally relate to all you've talked about.
Glad it was helpful! 🍻😃
Great video, thank you for sharing! Some thoughtful advice for the next generation of Spatial influencers. Keep the great content up.
Glad you liked it!
The buildings in this video. Amazing.
Right? They are located in Miami! 🍻😃
man! this video is the beeeest thank you so much!
Glad you liked it !
That one thing that I should have known before studying architecture is that I need to know such specs of a laptop so I would not regret after when I buy an expensive one.
I agree 100%
This will be super helpful, thank you so much!
Omg. Thank you so much. You're amazing for this.
What can I do as a high school student to better prepare myself for majoring in architecture?
You should go to the library and read some books on architecture. Any books you find, just skim through them, start to see what interests you. Watch documentaries on architecture. Start to learn about architecture design, what the fundamentals are, etc.
Our studio project is based on a competition, the due date is on this Sunday so two days are left. Wish me luck !!
Good luck! Let us know how it went!
Thank you! I’m currently doing my finals exam in Malaysia, hopefully I get to do Architecture after foundations
That's super cool!!! I wish you lots of luck and success!
Mooch Thank you so much T_T
Wow, this vid came back into my algorithm and remembered this comment. Who knew I’d actually be in architecture! Currently in my second year :,)
oh wow I really wish you made this video in 2016/2017, I am in my final semester now and most of your points is what I regretted the most in my architecture life (except for the 1st and 2nd point)😢! I've made my mind to go to infrastructure / management construction field for my master/work field, because I can feel that architecture isn't really for me, even though the experiences here is priceless....
🍻😃
Watching you from saudi and I really love your videos keep going! Also, I think it would be great if you made a video about books you recommend
Hey! Thanks so much!!!! I will make one soon :D
