Wow, thank you for sharing this! Can't wait to watch again and really listen when I am in my studio this afternoon! I do a lot of printing onto fabric using my printer, and also transfers with the gel plate, but I have not tried this. Thank you so much for sharing! Just subscribed to your channel. 💖 xxLynn
That was so comprehensive. Thank you so much. Loved learning that you can use so many different products to make this transfer. Have a wonderful vacation.
It’s amazing isn’t it? That you have so many options in the studio at your disposal and the very same technique works for all of them! Thank you so much for watching, Julie! 😘
Great idea to show and compare the different mediums in one video. I've never heard of omnigel so I appreciate that in particular. I never thought I was a fabric book person but you are slowly converting me!
Hi Cat and Don, thanks so much for the video. This time I wrote copious notes and put them in my Resource Binder. I’ve done a few experiments with the tea dying on the fabric, but have more to do. And of course working on several projects. Have fun in the sun on your vay-cay. Love to both of you. C4N 🌿🌸🌱😘❤️
Thank you so much, Janice, so glad to hear you are experimenting and working on several projects. We are enjoying our time with family and friends sending love back! 💕🌸🌿💕
Oh Cat, you make it look so easy! This is the one technique I’ve never tried, but you have convinced me now to give it a go! Thanks so much and enjoy your vacation! 😊❤️
Cat, thank you SO very much for this video. I've always been drawn to these transfers, but am nervous running fabric thru my printer. It worked once for me and clogged the second time. This takes obviously a bit longer, but I LOVE the look over fabrics!! Thanks for this reminder video and what each product ends up looking like when finished. You and Don are my wonderful tutors out in art land! Thank you both, for all you do.
Sooo happy you liked it Lynn .. and the transfers have more texture than those heat transfers or printer transfers.. you can use a blow dryer to speed up the process.. I make bunches and then pull them in the morning.. thank you so much dear friend! Sending hugs to you! 😘♥️
Thank you! You've inspired me to make a cloth journal and I am loving it so far. I appreciate your tutorials. I have been doing transfers onto paper not fabric, and I LOVE the fabric! I use Mod Podge which pretty much works the same as gel medium. Hope you are enjoying your holiday, we are still in lock down here in Northern Ontario Canada. Cia (Chow?) for now!
Hi Cat, I just re watched this one for about the 5th time. I just LOVE it. Such helpful info and things to experiment with!! I just checked your Amazon list for the Omni Gel, and currently it's not available! Bummer! But, looks like there are maaany other options! Thanks again for all this delish info. There is something about transfers on fabric that just excitements me to no end!
Hey Lynn, you might be able to get it at Michaels or another art supply store.. maybe 🤔 Dick Blicks? It’s such a great product! I hope you get it!! I agree.. I love making transfers!!

Great instructional video! Thanks! I’ve also heard that you can use a magic eraser to help remove the paper backing (gently!) really enjoy your videos Cat! Thanks!!!
Hi Cheryl! I have never tried it, but I would think the chemicals in Magic Eraser might degrade the transfer.. yellow it in time or cause a chemical reaction..
I like this idea very much! Can you peel these off when they are dry? Could I make patches for clothing that would go through the washing machine? Love your work!! x
Glad you liked it! No, they cannot be peeled off.. once they transfer to fabric, they are permanent. I have never used them for clothing, just for art so I do not know how they would hold up.
Hi Patricia.. I just use regular copy paper rub it off carefully and when the paper is removed, just use a light coat of gel medium to give it a sheen..
Just out of curiosity, because I’m a novice, what makes you a professional artist. I researched it, and it’s all very confusing. This question is just for my personal knowledge. Thank you, and I love your work. ❤️
I mentioned it at the beginning of the video.. yes I was using inkjet.. but you can use laser prints too! Thank you so much..we are having a good time with family and friends! 😘
I love this idea. I know when you are monoprinting there is a transfer technique that doesn’t involve scrubbing the paper off. Will this transfer by just pulling the paper off?
Que bella! How beautiful 💕 I love the difference in texture you get from each medium. Will this work with a colour print, or does it only work with black ink? And if it did work with a colour print, do you think the colour would fade over time, or does the medium give it some UV protection maybe...? Thanks for sharing m'dear 🌿💕🎨🖌🌿
Grazie!! It will work with color too, but they can lose clarity if they are too detailed. As for a gel medium cover.. it will protect it, but all art should be kept away from sunlight.. it really won’t save it from UV. 😘
Hi Cat, I am going to try the OMNI gel...It states in the directions that ink jet prints do not transfer well. Did you remarked that this is not the case? I am also experimenting on metal..Any helpful hints? thank you Lucia
NEVER knew white acrylic paint would be used to make a transfer! Great video!!
Hey Linda! Almost any color paint will transfer an image or text as long as they are light enough and the print should be high contrast..😘
Thank you......I’m going to try. Love your channel.
Make several copies ... use a light or white fabric and the best mediums would be Omni Gel, Gel Medium or an adhesive like PVA...😘
Absolutely love your bracelet ❤️
Thank you!!

Yes you can, but experiment with the products, and there should be high contrast with the colors.

@@supercalina Hi! I tried using Liquitex Fabric Medium but it did not end well :(
I'm thrilled to know about all these options. Removing the paper looked so easy. Should we print on the thinnest paper available? x

Thank you.👍🏻 So much information! Do you use an ordinary print or a laser print? Greetz from Amsterdam, The Netherlands 💕
Laser or ink jet will both work! 😘

Does this work with color pictures? Im going to try it....just wondering if you have tried it.
Yes, it does, but you need high contrast and not too much detail..
I love this idea. I know when you are monoprinting there is a transfer technique that doesn’t involve scrubbing the paper off. Will this transfer by just pulling the paper off?
You would need a gelli plate for that technique.

What kind of fixative do you suggest so that the image will stay on the fabric
It will stay on the fabric, with any product you use, but you you can give it a coat of gel medium to give it a sheen.
@@CaterinaGiglio I want to add it to a quilt so it will be washed occasionally I didn’t know if there was some kind of special fixative
@@kathykelley2379 I would make a small trial quilt with a transfer and then wash it a few times to see how it wears.

Lucia
Just make sure they are clear.. with high resolution and let them dry completely.. also compare them to gel medium transfers too…
I must have missed something. You said you printed with ink jet printer. When you add the liquids won’t it smear? Do you seal it with sonething ?
You are not using water… you will use a dry brush and medium either adhesives or matte mediums…
Is it possible to use old poly/cotton pillowcase
I am not sure.. just give it a try!!
Would it work with acrylic for fabric?
Yes..
@@CaterinaGiglio thank you very much! Your videos are so inspiring to me ❤️☀️
Can I use Gel mat medium?
