    I absolutely love watching your videos. I really enjoy transfers but kind of forgot about them. The first transfer I did was at a friend’s house when I was in 4th grade. We transferred flowers onto a dome plaque and put crackle on it. That was many years ago but it imbedded my inborn love of creating art. I wish I could thank her mother for taking the time to plant a seed inside me.

    Thank you for this video. I’m going to try these methods. I have not been successful with image transfer. I thought because I do not have a toner printer.

      It would be the same technique, though you might need to tape the linen fabric to keep it from wiggling..

    I been wanting to play around with transfers. I recently bought a book with old pictures from vogue magazines from over the years and the pictures are on the bad quality side but the contrast is strong so I am thinking as transfers they will be amazing. I have fluid matte medium not gel (not sure if that would work or not) I have a problem of being on the heavy hand side so clear gesso might be a big mess for me. I might just have to get a coupon and get the gel medium. And this might be an excuse to start to buy some golden paints ... they are a little out of reach for me since I am still learning but those paints just look yummy. (I mean even the zinc white!)

    • @CaterinaGiglio
      @CaterinaGiglio  6 років тому

      Well Golden is a professional brand, and it IS pricey, but they work so well, and a high contrast is perfect for a transfer, and yes just a bit of clear gesso goes a looong way, Lady in the Tree! thanks for watching and commenting!!

  • @juliehouck6154
    @juliehouck6154 4 роки тому

    Do you gesso or put any medium on Khadi paper before the image transfer with matte medium?

    • @CaterinaGiglio
      @CaterinaGiglio  4 роки тому +1

      Julie Houck Hi Julie, no you shouldn’t need to pretreat the paper .. any paper when making a transfer because you will be applying whatever you use to transfer the image on both the copy and the paper. 😘

    I am a little puzzled - why not just collage the papers straight into the journal? Am I missing the point?

    • @CaterinaGiglio
      @CaterinaGiglio  5 років тому

      Annie Gabriel Hi Annie, transfers are used for many different purposes in mixed media. If you transfer an image, you can paint, gild, collage and sand the image.. it takes more abuse than a simple collage piece. It is far more interesting visually, to mix different media and techniques.

    • @anniegabriel4203
      @anniegabriel4203 5 років тому

      Thanks for clearing that up, it’s always been a mystery to me. I’ve never done transfers, for a few reasons - I don’t have a printer, I can draw and paint faces and other figurative elements really well, and I have a large collection of collage pieces of all kinds. I often make my own collage pieces, as well, so I have a ton of those. So today, I am playing around in my studio with transfers, on and off the gelli plate. Let the fun begin!

    Hello, New Subbie here, I would love if you would ever do a video showing how to print images from your printer, onto cloth! How to put cloth & is it wax paper?, into your printer...for it to flow smoothly through your printer. And of course I understand if you don't plan on doing a tutorial like that! :) Thank you in advance! Sue
