Kind of ironic the audible book you spoke about is called Lock In about a virus. Does the book discuss anything that relates to today’s epidemic? On another note, I love these pallet wood videos. I can’t currently get to my local lumber yard so I’m stuck building with only pallets. It’s a great source of material for weekend projects. Thanks Steve!
Oh man I'm just finishing another Audible book and I have some spare credits laying around. I think I'll be able to finish it and the one you mentioned before the next month, if it's not too long.
It's hilarious to me that this was your project this week. Because I also made a wine rack over the past two weekends for my cousins wedding. I made it out of recycled pallets. I will be posting it on your FB page soon. I can't yet cause I haven't given it to them yet. Thanks for the videos they keep me inspired to do more projects. Wish I had seen this one 2 weeks ago it would have helped me with my project.
Hey steve, if you don't like the look of the rounded screw buttons , drill a matching hole in a scrap, wiggle the drill bit slightly to make a SLIGHTLY oversize hole, and then sand the button flat, leaving about a 16th to 3/32nd of an inch rim. Bit more modern looking, and lower profile. Fits some projects better. Fast to do on As belt or disc sander, and uniform if the scrap is square to the table.
This is the first time I've seen you use the torqx style 6 star bit screws. I realllllly think that between those and a impact driver (lots can argue here what kind / brand / etc) can make projects tons easier. The finish build looks amazing when seeing what it came from.
Great looking wine rack Steve . One question though . Looks like you have a good band saw but don't see a circle cutting jig for the band saw . Maybe a good project to do. Makes cutting circles much easier than free hand . Just a thought.
fadetounforgiven Now that you mention it, that's another reason it wouldn't be particularly of use to me. (The first one being that wine stored at room temperature gets too warm for my taste.)
That depends on the wine as well. Some are to be served a bit "fresh", others quite cooled, and some others at room temperature more or less. Not that I'm a master of wine of any kind, far from it, but if I'm having some meat and some red wine, I wouldn't like this to be too cold. Also, it depends in what room you store your wine and if that room (underground?) is cooler than others. But, most of the time I would agree with you.
Nillie good choice. We have "Albariño" where I live, and it's quite similar to Riesling. In fact, they say someone brought some kind of Riesling to this North-West part of Spain and in the end we have "Albariño". And yep, I like it as well and it has to be cool, not too much, otherwise you can't tell the difference between that and some colored water, but cool enough.
There's something just so satisfying about seeing all those shavings... I love forstner bits... I would make this wine rack, but I just don't like wine, and it doesn't like me. Hate the taste, and it always gives me a headache, something that other spirits just don't do. Can't explain it... Need a way to display Scotch and Bourbon bottles/glasses...
Also: I know little about wine, but decent wine racks hold the bottle 10 degrees from horizontal. I believe it's to do with sediments sinking to the bottom of the bottle. This way, with the bottles upside-down any sediment is the first thing to come out of the bottle... Epic Fail IMO
Thanks for the video. The product has good form and function. At first, storing wine upside down was a little disturbing to me, since wine bottles are traditionally stored on their side with the cork fully covered with the wine to stop too much air ingress. But it might be OK upside down. Then again, does it matter? Your wine rack is so good it will probably do for the living room, frequently re-stocked to entertain your woodworking fans so it cannot not oxidise or leak or suffer from precipitate. You could have several of them, each a different shape - a diamond, a cartwheel, a star etc.! How delightful!
***** Ok, question, Why did you use the torx screws? I have been wondering who some people use torx, and some people use phillips and flathead etc. Other than preference is there a real difference on the head wise... other than being difficult... and not wanting someone to take apart(or yourself to scrap the lumber again) said project? I know some of the theads can be different on some screws... but if the normal(flat and phil) are the same thread sizes as the torx then why the torx? I think you did answer this a long long long time ago but I forgot, and I cant find it anymore.
That audible book sounds like the people all came down with Guillain-Barre syndrome. That's scary! You are completely mentally aware of everything but you can be completely paralyzed unable to do a thing. We read a book in nursing school called Bed Number 10 about one patient who actually had that issue. I'm definitely checking this book out! thanks for the recommendation and thanks for the wine project. It's going to make great simple Christmas gifts.
I love the work you do, Woodworking is my hobbie and my wife loves the things I do... i am going to make the back of the wine rack the home plate from the NY Yankees for my man's cave. I subscribed to your videos and I am looking forward to learn from you... thanks Segeant First Class Sanchez U S Army
Awesome project Steve. I love all of your videos. This wine rack is awesome but...you lost me at edge jointing. You're not a mere mortal anymore, you are a damn talented woodworker. I need to click on the link you provided and buy a new table saw. Thank you for making the video though. You have helped me a lot in the past and inspired me to fiddle in the garage. Thanks! Sincerely - 30 year old new dad from Ferguson, MO.
I've watch every single one of your videos.... You made everything seems so easy though.. but...after trying it at home. It reminds me of the phrase people used to say all the time."Kids do not try this at home"... love your videos though thanks
So funny I watched this during the coronavirus lockdown of 2020!
Hello from the future!
Rotating the back so the slats run at a 45 angle really makes a difference in how that looks - nice little tweak. Nice project over all
Thanks for the plan's you shared. I made 3 of these for Christmas for my adult kids! Made with pallets!
I always enjoy your videos. You explain and make woodworking look so easy to do that I’m inspired to try them. Please keep inspiring people.
recycled lumber does add character. I like the rack, and the finish came up nice too.
Nice design Steve!
Holy ish, this audible ad
What an awesome piece. Highly artistic and very beautiful.
Nice project Steve and a great presentation.
Nice design and nice repurpose of the wood.
A 4 on the Ramsey scale? looks like a 3 to me. I think we need to recalibrate. :) Looks great!
***** Score yourself 5 bonus points for that one...
It's 1 rustic-er. innit?
Love all your projects
So red or white wine pairs well with wood! Great as always Steve.
I have learned much from Steve you love your designs I want to thank from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU MY FRIEND ...
Great work Steve
Another great project, makes me want to get out to the shed this weekend! Thanks Steve!
That is very nice Steve. I gotta make that Jig you use now that I actually have a table saw. Thanks for all the great videos.
oah, THIS is great! Very nice project Steve!
Great project Steve! Nice to see new uses for already made projects that you can no longer use anymore. Thank you for sharing with us!!!
Really nice project Steve, have to do it. I like what you do keep it up, thanks for sharing.

Haha I just love your intros. Great upcycled project Steve!

Great project and great T-shirt!!!!
Great project idea. Thanks

That was the coolest thing I've seen all week 😳
Locked in sounds pretty cool ---the wine rack is not bad either...
You have really solved a problem of the day for me
Great wine rack Steve.
Very cool, love this classy wine rack!
Great looking project, & recycled!
Great Project Idea Steve,
Thank you.
Regards,
Bob
Can't beat a bit of good recycling :-)
Hello Steve! Could you please do a "different ways to mount and hang things on the wall" type video? Thank you so much for all your videos!
Angie C watch deresta's vid
like, everything you do all most LOL always look forward to your projects
Nice job Steve, I liked this wine
... how could anybody dislike this project [video] - must be the cap?
Wine & 49ers! Yay!
I missed the wine-glass-bottle-display-board memo for this week. Drunken Woodworker
You captured "wine people" perfectly at the beginning of the video. :)
I do like how you set those back boards at a slight angle - a very nice touch, although perhaps people with severe OCD may disagree!
The Ramsey scale? This seems pretty classy for a 4! :)
Great work.!!
In my shop I use only reclaimed or pallet wood.I love that!
I will show you some pictures of my shop hop you like it.
I LIKE THAT STEVE VERY NICE JOB
Thank you so much Steve,
This is the a woodworking project for me! Its simple and a great gift
Thanks a lot
Greetings from Bavaria :)

You really inspired kids like me
Good choice of Shirt!
I''ve tried watching some of these other wood workers, but they are so boring to listen to. You have a way that makes it neat to watch
It's very nice I see you in México

Like this project and the shirt
Steve, I did it and give as a Chrystmas gift. Everybody loved it. Thanks. I m brazilian and watch your youtube channel.
Hi Steve, I have made 3 of them so far and none of them have been hung up yet. I used Titebond 2 to glue them up. Have you used yours? Thanks Phil
Great looking wine rack Steve . One question though . Looks like you have a good band saw but don't see a circle cutting jig for the band saw . Maybe a good project to do. Makes cutting circles much easier than free hand . Just a thought.
Now let's see how many people complain about storing wine bottles upside-down...
Nice and easy project :D

fadetounforgiven I'm not particularly fond of red wine, but I do love a glass of nice, chilled Riesling.
***** That is not correct. You'll see that depends very much on the wine.
Nillie good choice. We have "Albariño" where I live, and it's quite similar to Riesling. In fact, they say someone brought some kind of Riesling to this North-West part of Spain and in the end we have "Albariño".

The Ramsy Rustic Scale, joining London buses, football pitches and African Elephants as the alternative measurement scale :D
Looks awesome but i trink it would look better with a square. Gonna give it a try later. Thank you!!
The Ramsey scale of rustic would be an awesome t shirt design also, keep up what your doing its great XD
여태껏 본 많은 목수중에서 가장 안전하게 작업하네요.. 고글도 쓰고.. 귀마개도 쓰고... 완벽해요
Excellent, love it... Cheers...
You caught me off guard with the Micro Jig intro this week. I don't know why I didn't see it coming but I snorted then LOLed. :)
There's something just so satisfying about seeing all those shavings... I love forstner bits...

This seems like a good project to use the printer transfer technique to add some detail to the circle
Hello, luv your videos! Do you have the plans for this build? Thanks
Steve, How could you possibly know the scrap wood in my shop has character?
GRRRipper is back yeeeeeeehaw
Steve, I have always wondered what is the Bit holder you are using i like its small form factor compared to the dewalt one i currently have.
do you have multiple cameras or do you just have to constantly change angles? nice project
Thanks for the video. The product has good form and function. small forstner bits look hilarious

Entertaining and informative video, Steve! You are beginning to master the art of *_subtle_* marketing, too!
You need to make a circle jig for your band saw.
You mack you tube worth watching keep up the good work if Ben using us lumber for years wen I had my biasness. I sold used wood fencer .
im all for the rustic look, but OCD went crazy when you glued the rack on at a slant!

Wow sick stuff! I like it. : )
I'm certainly not a great expert, BUT! did not precipitate will be collected near the neck?
I have no idea how wine should be stored but is it a good idea to have in upside down all the time?
I love the work you do, Woodworking is my hobbie and my wife loves the things I do... i am going to make the back of the wine rack the home plate from the NY Yankees for my man's cave. I've been looking but haven't seen... do you have a barstool making video?
Are the boards you used to keep the panel flat cambered?
nice i love it
Did you chamfer both edges of the boards?
I'll drink to that project Steve :-) nice one !
I've watch every single one of your videos.... You made everything seems so easy though.. but...after trying it at home. It reminds me of the phrase people used to say all the time."Kids do not try this at home"... love your videos though thanks

It's not pallets, but it is re-using old shelves, so I'll allow it.
Also, Wil Weathon is king!

Great! Can I please borrow your circular saw, router, band saw and bench drill and bits ???
Great project to keep your wine!!! Where do you keep your paint now?
Just curious. Another project? Paint Locker.
We are in sync this week!
