Love the m54 content !!! I had that same issue with fan clutch also twice on my m52tu & m54 engines , I took the fan off same exact way . I run both mine without the fan clutch way less noise an the auxiliary fan takes care of any heat issues : although people say to never do that . Lol . But over 1 year no issues, thanks again for the killer content

Nice maintenance Chris. I never saw a fan clutch so stuck on the water pump like this. Insane! The water hoses underneath the intake manifold can wait quite some time. Normally the plastic one goes out at 150k miles or more. Very nice DIY. Thanks for sharing. Dutch regards, Nico.

I got a real giant endwrench from Home Depot the right size. Hit it with a METAL hammer not deadblow. The vibrations of the blows is what will get it to vibrate loose

Great content! Maybe the best 5series ever, with the M54 being a brilliant engine. The only downside is the ridiculous amount of plastic components used that will eventually break. So, good call to replace and upgrade things before they do break. I was surprised that the expansion tank is not cracked yet. On literally every M54 I owned I eventually had to replace the tank.

I have an e39 with a developing dead pixel issue, pretty minor and low on my priority atm (especially after watching your fix and noping the hell out of attempting a diy fix😂). To my surprise, after installing a brand new AGM type battery, NO MORE DEAD PIXLES!! Wonder if that could be an easy fix for this? Or maybe it's just my car..

Good video, but I think the fan in order to remove it you need to go the opposite way than usual

Hey brother would you be able to tell me what tools needed for this job?

Grab a metric deep socket set, 32mm fan wrench, a torx bit socket set, and maybe a couple pry bars! The only special thing needed is that fan clutch tool, so I put a link to that in the description. Thanks for watching!
