George Clooney is going to be pissed about this
Or you can just not use Nespresso
It's just taste better... from the machine...
I would agree. At this point just put some coffee in a French press / Moka pot and cut out the evil middleman
@@Coffee_Is_Life_2010 plenty can't afford one nor appreciate coffee enough to justify the cost.
@John Makes Coffee I understand that, but I hope you understand that to someone who has only just stepped into the world of coffee, coffee people come across as insufferably pretentious.
It's really a stark contrast from other communities (namely, the whiskey community for me since that's what I know). Good coffee seems so gatekept behind snobbery and elitism, it's discouraging.
@@Coffee_Is_Life_2010 not everyone has the money to buy an espresso machine as their very costly
There are also reusable silicone Nespresso pods with a closing lid, they should work just as good
Not for the vertuo
Not for me, after 6 to 8 months there were more and more water leaks, and i did not use it on a daily basis.
For the vertuo?
You’ll make your warranty void and it’s not the best
@@harrietxo2310warranty-how are they gonna know. Taste-subjective, I have my fav brand of coffee
Stop hating people 😅 this would actually be beneficial for me bc I was given an nespresso machine as a gift with starter pack of there pods. They all tasted good but problem is there prices are kind of on the high side. So this would be a good alternative for me.
Even in this case, I'd recommend making much better coffee with a french press or a cone and paper filter. You can still use the nespresso when you're ready to splurge on pods, but this method will likely make not so good coffee, which might seem okay when covered in sweetener, but the difference between well made coffee is huge.
@@thebestname1232 there's a difference between how nespresso coffee comes out and how a French press or pour over comes out. Nespresso uses a similar concept of pulling a real espresso shot. Water is shot through the coffee grounds instead of hanging out with them for a while. The pressure and force creates a velvety texture with a layer of rich foam on top. It's much different than other brewing methods, so it comes down to preference. While I do enjoy a nice pour over occasionally, I much prefer my nespresso coffee. If I couldn't afford the pods, I would absolutely buy this gadget to help me get the same type of coffee for cheaper
@@AnnaMBanana I don't think any substantial pressure can be made with this method, which is the difference between just shooting water through coffee and espresso. Although i've only played around with a friend's nespresso machine so I could be wrong, but at the end of the day if you gave a good attempt at making the best coffee possible with other methods and you still like the nespresso coffee then power to you, how much you enjoy it is only thing that matters.
@thebestname123 I actually worked for one of the nespresso call centers for a decent amount of time. The company claims "19 bars of pressure" is achieved with their machines. I'm not a technician, so I wouldn't be the one to verify that claim. But that's what they claim creates the crema or "foam" on top of the coffee. It's just different than other at-home brewing methods, so it's hardly comparable. Now if you'd try to compare it to other espresso methods, that would be a wildly different conversation.
@@AnnaMBanana My original gripe with this method is that when you shoot water through coffee, you get more pressure the finer, and more tightly coffee is ground and packed together. The coffee grounds in nespresso pods are much finer than the ground coffee found at stores. Putting in any ground up coffee definitely won't be creating much pressure, effectively turning it into spun up drip coffee, but without the ability to tune it to your tastes like with other methods. The foam here is likely due to just the spinning of the pod, which is different from crema that comes from the coffee's C02 content when it's under pressure.
...and when you've done that, you can buy a big box of tea bags. Then, rip the teabags open one by one, tip the loose tea into a tea pot, and make a traditional pot of tea. Then, sew all the little empty tea bag casings together, to create a string vest. Then, you can open a string vest market stall, using the profits to fund your tea drinking.
Brilliant 😂
A comic genius
How did you come up with that! Pure magic 😅
I think I love you.
😂
Personally I love my barista express espresso machine, but I will say as a coffee enthusiast your grounds are way to coarse. You need much finer grounds or else your just making “drip coffee” But we can definitely appreciate the $$$ saving ideas!
I am supposed to do all that BEFORE my coffee!? 😂
Yup. And the reason for these types of machine was convenience in the first place ! Ironic , right ?
Just buy an espresso pot for $10. It's been working for decades.
@@rxb364 I’m sure you can make them in advance
Just wait until you stock up a weeks worth of old pods then do it in a batch.
@@phil20_20And have watery coffee without cream? No thanks. Also the quantity you need to put in those are WAY HIGHER a lot of people like me don’t drink that much coffee LOL. 1 bag it would last me WAY MORE time than you 😂
I use the exact same mason jar glass container for my coffee grounds, even the same size. I knew I wasnt the only one
The reason people buys Nespresso machine is not the reason of this video.
“I bought an nespresso and didn’t realize how expensive the pods were, so now I have to figure out a way to continue to use it to get my moneys worth”
@@budsmith5368 I mean the ammount of money you spent you could just buy a portafilter machine and make better coffee. Plus the upkeeping cost is lower.
@@budsmith5368 the plan is to go to europe where it is 3 bucks for the whole tube of 10band get a truck load back
@@MrXxHunterreally?
@@MB-gd6beYeah a good portafilter starts used at like 200€ and new around 400€ with a grinder that’s in Nespresso terms like 3/4 Months of coffee and the price for a machine. And after that every kg of coffee sets you back 10-20€ (highly depends on what coffee seomone likes and the quality) and is like 50 or more coffees worth. The only downside is it takes a bit of learning to get used to a portafilter machine and make good coffee but that’s maximum of 2 weeks until you have basically mastered it.
finally I saw someone who is beautiful, smart and lives in reality - bless you girl!
cost savings would be the only reason. the vertuo pods i believe are 100% recyclable aluminum. The pods are getting crazy expensive i think i spend $100 a month for them
Imagine buying a machine where they have proprietary over priced coffee pods only to bypass the pods anyway with a hack, when you could just get a coffee maker.
Coffee maker is not the same LOL 😂 and is way more gross. I don’t need to clean my nespresso, just change the water LOOL and if I need to clean it it cleans itself with the water process you need to click 3 seconds the button.
do not do this!!!! It will ruin your machine. The vertuo machines spin the capsule very fast while brewing and if it’s not sealed coffee grounds will get inside your machine and clog it
wow.
How do you get it out... Is there a way, such as Descaling?
Actually, these stickers are very secure. But since you have to buy the stickers, not sure if it worth it
Clean up that ice 🤣
Kicked under fridge
Don’t do this to the virtuo…. These machines spin the pod, the oginal small pod machine you can do this. But not these newer ones. The coffee will come out like shit.
You have answered all of my questions in this short video. Thank you! ☕️
No! Just no!...why complicate your life with this kind of things...just buy a Normal coffee machine if you can't afford the Pods...
I was gonna say is it even any different from a regular Keurig at that point?
That’s coffee not espresso
@katie heinz these machines don't make espresso either if you really want to split hairs
@@katieheinz1378 i promise you this isnt an espresso either
@@OosiesInnit yes they do. They just extract in a physically different way🙄
Love this!! Thankyou for sharing 😊
Half the ice on the floor is so accurate
I guess if you have dogs, they'll enjoy eating the ice :)
Lol this is why i have a normal coffee machine where i can use any coffee i want
Nespresso is a convenient way to get a good cup of Joe. This hack not only don't work well, is bad for the machine but also defeats the purpose. But thanks for being you
Just buy a half decent standard coffee machine and measure your coffee extraction ratios properly and you’ll have the best possible tasting coffee
hello, great video but the note on the Amazon website that sells these Aluminum foil lids wrote the following: . Note: But not work well on the Vertuo Next machine, which may cause water leakage and weak/watery coffee.
I have the same Nespresso model you have which I believe is the Next maybe I'm wrong.
Yes it ruined my machine when it was a few months old
Cheaper to get a grinder for coffee beans grind your own beans, & brew it the old fashioned way or do it as a drip. It is so much tastier that way, healthier, and more affordable!
Idk about healthier, but definitely a better idea
@@kylolumait is healthier than a plastic K-Cup. Micro plastic can cause cancer along with your body having a hard time trying to get rid of plastic particles.
But we want the crema.
@@msdixie1972 why though? Crema looks nice, but it tastes disgusting
@@kyloluma crema is the only part i like lol
Interesting video but decaf.......? Lol. Also looks a bit watery.
When you get orange flashing light and no brewing the bar code reader has been compromised by coffee overflowing into the reader. The drain tubes from the brew head are plugged. Take N V N apart. Clean and reassemble. Make sure drain tubes are free flowing. Trouble free brewing
At this point just get an espresso machine with portafilter :)
That’s too time consuming for a lot of people. I want to make an espresso in less than 1 minute without having to worry about 17 different steps
That's hilarious. The spin is just so the coffee will go up through the holes. 😅
The reason why Nespresso users are calling the Toll Free number.
Why not just use a regular coffee maker. Why make them in a nespresso if you don’t want there coffee pods
Hahahaha, wrong!!! 1st with that you will break your machine!!
2nd, the Nespresso capsules of the VERTUO line have a barcode that detects the amount of water, temperature, rotation speed for your cream and everything you need for your coffee. Each capsule with different settings.
3rd The coffee you use costs 15 dollars and has 340g, you are paying 1 dollar for each 22g. Plus the stickers cost.
Nespresso capsules are aprox. 1USD dolar each. How much are you saving?
The same brand of coffee you are using, sells Original Line Nespresso capsules, why do you think it doesn't sell for VERTUO?
Does what you're doing make sense?
I did what she did and i broke my machine, I hadn't read your message.
thanks for the info. it will serve many people.
Many Pods are 1.25
The only reason why no other brands than Nespresso are selling capsules for the Vertuo is because of the patents Nespresso hold for the machine and the cups. With the regular machines they only had patents on the machines not the cups so many other brands have their own cups nowadays. With those lessons in mind, with the Vertuo, Nespresso put patents on the capsules too.
@@fersrivero That's because those barcodes are part of the patents Nespresso has on the machine and the pods...
Starbucks has pods for Nespresso now
If you can't afford the pods, buy a jar of Nescafe!
Italians watching this:
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
The whole point of buying a keurig or similar machine is that it’s easier/faster than brewing coffee normally…this is much more difficult
The point of Nespresso is the quality of foam and depth of flavor it brews. It’s more for Starbuck lovers who don’t want to spend Starbucks money everyday. So I can make all my favorite drinks at home. I’ve tried a lot of coffee machines and only one in Europe came close to the ease but with nice foam and depth. I hate having to use actual espresso machines 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ a lot of it is just personal preference
@SopranoVictoria yes exactly!! I use my nespresso all the time. My parents have a keurig, and I just can't enjoy that coffee nearly as much. The texture is different and it brews too hot. Some people prefer drip coffee over espresso style coffee, and that's fine. But that's just not for me!
Do you have the link for the kit
if I have to do all that just to get a cup of coffee, I'd just do instant coffee.
Instead of using the brush, tap the side and it will make loose coffee grounds go into the pod.
I still have an old Gevalia grinder and coffee maker I would use if I didn't want Nespresso.
Thank you 😊!!!
if you don’t have money for the pods don’t buy a nespresso
Awesome hack!!
Nothing linked can you pls share the kit
As someone without a Nespresso, mainly because of the waste, I’m happy to see this hack. Now I need a hack to this hack where I don’t have to consume anything but the grounds, like a reusable top foil.
You can buy reusable pods with the lids. All environmentally friendly and sustainable :) I have them.
Classic espresso machines didn’t generate any waste (except used coffee, but they 100% biodegradable in your garden), and they cheaper in long period
Great tip!
There are a few local blends out there I love and wish I could pop into my Nespresso. I’ve seen a lot of reviews of people saying with the Nespresso Vertuo Next especially using this method and/or the silicone lids doesn’t work well. After ACTUALLY seeing someone share their experience I’m willing to give it a shot! Worst case scenario it doesn’t work out and I just have to have my other blends through a different means 🤷🏻♀️ thank you for sharing!
❤right! I’m obssessed w the brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso lately and this hack is the BEST!!!!
I sold my nespresso . Coffee isn’t easily accessible, I got tired of buying my coffee exclusively online and my target stopped selling the Starbucks pods .. So I sold it and purchased a wolf 🐺 I’m in love with the coffee it makes it’s so hot and delicious I grind my beans fresh every morning and new a nice cup of coffee it’s also a lot cheaper .
What about the sticker adhesive that’s now in your coffee? 😂
Looks like it’s only on the edge around it not filling that whole circle so no residual in your coffee
Tacky af
Imagine buying a machine to have a consistent taste each time and then end up defeating the exact purpose it was made for 🤦
Thank you for this
most important is to use 7-9 g of coffee like a barista would do instead of Nespresso only 5 g (for classic / original capsule)
the problem is find that stickers
This works great. No problem.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ magnificent post... keep em coming
The point of using a nespresso is to lessen the time and effort it’d take to brew coffee. 😂
I love my coffee ‘just nice’
I wonder if I can do the same thing and just cut out circles of aluminum foil lol
I got a $20 single serve coffee maker from Walmart. Been using it for years. Simpler than this. Glad you enjoy it tho
Where’s the link? Scrolled through all the comments and didn’t see it
I’d stay away from nut and oat milks. Terrible for the gut. Just use regular milk. It’s great for you!
Great advice. Especially for people who are deathly allergic to cow's milk. Thanks, doc. 👌
@@jenniferdavis3071allergy is so gay. 😊
@@Justdigit2 we're still using that as an insult? 🏳️🌈
Just one thing to add press the coffee for better extraction. I think is wonderful idea, since the bag last longer. I would use both of course for those days in a rush.😅
What is the top you are putting on the pod? And where do I get that?
Hi, tell me please where you buy that coffe cup? I want like yours :)
Cool way to use your own coffee! But nespresso vertuo has a scanner on the foil. Will it still work using your own foil?
Is just me I can’t click the links on the this for Amazon
Feel like this is a lot of effort compared too just buying a pressure filter basket
Поздравляю. Вы изобрели рожковую кофеварку!
Singapore collecting the ice that you droped
Fellow decaf enjoyer!
Horrible for you
No way I didn't know this is possible!
Don’t even add the sticker, just use the pod 💀
I heat up hot water and make instant coffee. I then put it in the fridge to get cold. I'm wondering if this machine makes cold coffee taste better than the method I use?
I’ve used these. Be very careful because it messed up my machine big time. Thankfully it was under warranty and nespresso fixed it but I still have issues to this day because of these. My machine was only a few months old when it broke
Lmao here's the nonsense shill "some indescribable thing happened because i didn't pay more"
Get outta here bot
Where do you get those stickers?
I wouldn’t do this on the VL especially each capsule has a barcode to determine which coffee ground inside. If I have an Original Line, this method is easily doable
Does this work with smaller Nespresso tabs.
Is fancy coffee worth the price?
Why not just use a portafilter?
The point of Nespresso capsules is to avoid the hassle of packing portafilters. But if you're gonna go through the hassle of packing Nespresso capsules just pack the portafilter in the regular espresso machine.
So the coffee pours out hot into the ice ?
This girl came in Brew Nespresso right.
YES
Did you pick up the ice off the floor?
Made my brand new vertuo pop leak
are the stickers food-safe?
I fry my coffee on a skillet the old fashioned way.
Or buy a mocha pot for a fraction of the price and have no waste or effort.
mocha pots suck, can only make a tiny amount of coffee french press is better.
Where to get this small equipment???
where to buy?
What happend to the traditional method of making coffw?
Does it still come out frothy like the nespresso coffee!?
A little bit but nespeesso pods always win
So now you have all the disadvantages of nespressso and none of the benefits...
Name of machine !
It's funny how people are willing to do literally anything to reduce waste except get an espresso machine.
Lmao this is doing the most
I would love to change from being a human to being a coffee machine right now😁

I’ve noticed when i use my own grounds to fill the pod it’s not yielding as much as a normal pod would, why do you think that is?
The grinds are probably too coarse or to fine. Since it’s hard to know exactly how coarse or fine the machines needs, it’s better just buy the pods to get consistent results
@@SenorRobb yea i popped an unused pod open to try and see what grind size I need to aim for and it was pretty sandy. I found that after sealing off the pod with the sticker and shaking it a few times works great , water flows through it a lot better and even get some nice crema on top
There is a barcode on the bottom of the pod that tells the machine how much water/ rotation it needs etc there is people online trying to decode which part of the barcode is what tells the machine what to do. Try different pods until you find the right one for the coffee beans
