For the “corners” sub category, it’s not only the whitening they look for, but I’m pretty sure they’re also looking at the shape and how round it is.

Yeah, I always wondered about that. He seems like a great guy and it seems trivial to point out, but I notice it all the time. It may be very hypocritical of me, since I was a nail biter and my son is dealing with it too. I moved in with my dad when I was 15 years old, waaaay back, and he gave me a fingernail clipper w/ mini file keychain and said, "when you fell like biting, use the clipper and file. Oddly enough, it worked, I always had my keys on me. It hasn't worked so well with my son though, so I emphasize, but come on Leon, you can afford a weekly "mani." :)

You'd think a company that grades centering on cards would align their logo with the label a bit better 😅 am I the only one that finds the logo not being in the middle frustrating? 😄
Its because they aligned it with the metal so where the bottom of the logo and metal are even

I know you don't want to saturate your channel with this series, but this, honestly, is what drew me to your channel first. I'm the same age as you, so I grew up with these cards, but the grading, the process, all that is extremely interesting to me. Keep up the great work!
I think “corners” refers to the cut and not whitening which comes under edges.

the venusaur and dark charizard should of both been low beckett 10s. the mew they probly wont change but tbh it looks like your grader was having a bad day. brutal.
They should honestly have 2-3 people grade over the same card. Grading is highly opinionated and like people say grader could be in not the best mood.
people need to stop saying low and high. "Yeah mate thats a low 10"? its either a 10 or if it isnt its a 9 lol there aint no high and low
I think one of the reasons for corners getting 9 on the venusaur shows that it doesn’t need whitening to get a lower grade. F.eks. when the corners are perfectly round it means it’s better, than the venusaurs corners that are a bit (only a little) flat? But yeah that’s my opinion when seeing the corners, so guess it depends on who sees these cards 😅 Would have been a psa 10 maybe?
@@hunterhofman3555 yes there is... If you say that, then you don't know BGS. You can literally get a full 10/10 for all sub rating or a 10 that has a 9.5 or two. Guess what, they are different and one is more rare and valuable. Gtfoh

That pichu got the 8.5 corners because of the way the card was cut, if you look you can tell the corners don’t roll around smooth, there’s a slight jaggedness as the corner rolls onto the edges
Not only the corners that has a little whitening but it has to do with how the card is cut around the corners. It has to be a perfect round corner, but if it's a square corner, most likely the grade will be graded lower.
geez beckett is so stingy with giving out the 10s it's ridiculous. I'd love to see them try to breakdown how they could give some of these cards an 8.5 on corners lol.

Leon Hart is so smart. His business is genius. It wouldn't work if he wasn't genuinely a nice guy and didn't put out such high quality content.
But he's able to build one of the world's best collections while getting paid to do it.

Nice grades all around. With the centering of 10, regrading would be fun to see. Haven’t seen anything regraded and curious to see what one of them would get and how you would go about in it getting it regraded. As in, open the slab and send in or what. Thanks brother for sharing! Take care!
I missed out on the Leonhart mystery box. Site wasn't working for me. But that's okay. We used your good energy for the community and channeled it to our pack rips. We hit the shiny Charizard Vmax. You have the best energy even when stuff isn't going your way. Keep it up. We love to watch you as a family.
Dang thought that Mewtwo was for sure a 9.5....overall great result!
I always wonder if the cards get damaged in the shipping process and if Beckett damages them. Even a little careless handling resulting in a tiny mark makes a huge difference. You should take pictures of your cards front and back before you get them graded.

Leonhart I strongly reccomend buying a magnifying class or something that can really magnify the class to properly exam the corners and such as that is what graders use to check and you can really get a clearer picture

BGS grades way too harshly. Most of these would’ve been a PSA 10
Thinking about sending a card of mine into PSA. 9.5 Centering 10 Corners 10 Edges 9.5 Surface.
@@bitsnpcs9877 Just keep the Beckett grade. A Beckett 9 graded card is worth more than any PSA 10.
@@KrissofallTrades I mean that may be your opinion, but no BGS 9 of a card has ever sold for more than a PSA 10 copy of the same card.

Dark Char centering: The Top and Bottom are off very slightly. Grader is really tough on those.
I LOVE this series, it's like walking through a little museum/ hall of fame with the cards you send off!
I think the corners got a lower rating because they're not perfectly round. There doesn't have to be whitening or damage for it to be lower. Sometimes they're just a little straight
Wow they're tough with the corner grading on some of those!
Would be nice to get a behind the scenes look at grading companies and the process from receiving and grade finishing.

Pichu corners don't look perfectly round like a chunk of them are missing and there's spots of whitening
Top to bottom centering on the charizard isn't perfect, looks a little slanted on the back too but very good grade otherwise. Maybe surface can be regraded
leonhart for the dark charizard the centering was like a few centimeters thick top to bottom
if you want to get them regraded, go right ahead. I would also love to see you get your rainbow and gold cards graded as well, someday, vas well.

My comments: Venusaur looked like 9.5 for corners.
Pichu: 9 for corners seems right. Not sure if that bottom left corner on back had a slight curl to it.
Charizard: Centering does seem slightly off top to bottom.
Rapidash: I agree with the grade completely.
Mewtwo: Unfortunately I agree with this grade too. I think the overall grade can only be .5 higher than the lowest rating. The corners did have spots on them.
Wow, they are brutal with grading those corners.
I hate how centering is a thing you have ABSOLUTELY NO control over because it's the most noticable factor of the front, aka the part everybody looks at and the most interesting part. Like my Rainbow Chunkichu has very bottom heave centering on both sides.

On the Mewtwo or any BGS card the math is adding up all 4 subgrades and dividing by 4. So its 9.375 which is why its 9. They don't avg the grade up to a 9.5 even though it's closer to 9.5 than 9. The overall grade must exceed or meet the minimum threshold of the grade.
Hey Leonhart, this is my favorite series of videos you do. I enjoy watching guess that grade way more than even pack openings! i could watch it for hours! That being said, please keep doing it and maybe even more often :D

On the dark zard. The top to bottom is a little bigger.
Someone was being so hard on the corners of those cards. Definitely think ya should send the big hitter back.
Each speck is point five off. Each spot on surface is .5 off. Centering is subject to grader interpretation. It seems as though the edges and corners are .5 off per mark

And that Mewtwo calcs to 9.375, should have been rounded up to 9.5, but they play it safe rounding down.
They seem super harsh on the corners in this batch. I agree, most of those corners look pretty great. I think many of those will cross over to PSA 10...Except the grading cost on that Mewtwo may be several grand at PSA based on its market value?

I only use beckett for grading, all cards I've graded so far, lowest grade I've gotten was one 9.5 and rest was pristine and black label.
I could be wrong but the corners are also graded on how rounded they are. The ones on the Pichu look kinda edgy but I’m no professional,
Top left corner looks like it wasn’t cut flush hard to explain but look at right before the curve and in the middle of the curve this is for the first card you opened of graded ones

Recently purchased a First edition Lt Surge's Magneton and 1st edition Lt Surge's Riachu both psa 9 . So excited to keep expanding my collection!
Beckett should send someone over to grade in person so you can ask questions while they grade the card. What are they even looking at for their corners?

Isn't the grade of corners also refers to the corners of the print itself? Cuz if you look closely on that pichu it seems like that the edge between the frame and the picture is not clean, and fading on the upper left corner. It's just not a clean division. It would also explain the "low" grade

Love this series! It must be so convenient to live within driving distance of BGS, especially after that lost card in the mail nightmare. Do you have to crack the cases for re-grading, or do they have a service to re-assess grades and re-do the slab if needed?
