The issue is that you were only analyzing the cards with a black light. That's only useful for detecting possible edge/corner wear. Even for edge/corner wear, you should still be using a magnifying glass/jeweler's loupe. The UV light is for final inspection to verify. For surface, you still need a traditional halogen with a magnifying glass from different angles to see any potential surface scratches (or roller marks) or dimples that a UV light won't pick up.

It’s nice to see a Rayquaza star card in really good condition considering that mine is in terrible condition. Never knew how to properly take care of those cards as a kid 😭😭
I have a Charizard delta species electric and Blastioes ex holon phantoms love the cards but they are maybe a 4-5 graded maybe even lower 😂😭they would be worth so much more in good condition

Yes.
It’s cool to see someone other then me using the black light method it really does help looking for damages!! You can also use this for your psa graded cards the label has hidden black light psa letters along the top edge of the label. On the back side the psa Lettering on the left side will have tiny black light letters all around the label. This is to help ensure authenticity I always check my psa slabs as I’m very paranoid now a days with counterfeits so prevalent!!!

My Neo discovery Umbreon came back as an APG 8 wich is about the same as a PSA 9. Really happy about that.
The Mew is definitely a BGS 10. Beckett has already been exposed for controlling population reports and intentionally grading lower on vintage Yugiohs channel. Stop grading with these scammers

i wonder if it would be possible to work out a video with Beckett where you take in a card to get regraded and they walk you through the process of the things that they look for and what they mark you down on using the card you bring in. it would be cool to see how the process works. I know that is hard with a company, but it would be cool none-the-less.

I haven't really been involved with Pokemon since the late 90s early 2000s. I Foster two adults with disabilities who are both Pokemon Fanatics and collect cards. As the pandemic and lockdowns have progressed we've been trying to find things to do to keep the boys entertained. We started watching your videos a few weeks back and we have gone through pretty much everything you've posted. My boys love watching you. I just subscribed to you today and I've decided to start collecting again with the boys as a way of trying to interact with them better. We bought our first box of cards today and had a great time opening them. Thanks for everything you're doing we have great fun watching you.

my gold star charizrd for only a pet, I kept it in the original booster as a kid since 2006, and moved so much it's incredible shape given I never sleeved it for 15 years, only a dent, the holo is really fragile

The gold star mewto is without a doubt off centered from bottom to top. Left to right it’s perfect, but the bottom is definitely thicker then top I would predict a 9 at most

Since your using Beckett for grading and using the light for grading you gotta name the black light “Becky the Blacklight”!
Dragon's Frontier is my favorite set. The Mew is my favorite because it looks so different/unique from other Mew cards. Also delta species Feraligator is another favorite.

I have cards that look like that. Does that affect grading? No damage,tear, or crease they were stored in a zapdos card holder !

Would you even send in to get graded a base set 2, holographic charizard? Looks to be in decent shape with no scratches or blemishes. Any tips?
If you want a card graded for your collection just have it graded if you are looking to make money be more selective and examine the card carefully

I think the pikachu is a p.t bevause the centering is pretty good it would get a nine . The corners look good and so thats why i think it is a nine point five.

These gold stars are so cool. i missed on opening those packs as a kid but can really appreciate them now. corners should have been a 9.5 on the mew though, grading is so annoying.

Where does the community stand on beckett vs psa slabs (aesthetics/looks)
If it was my choice I would only use Beckett. They just look so nice especially when you get the silver and above labels. PSA to me doesn’t look that rewarding as it just looks like a piece of paper from a sticker printer. Don’t get me started on CGC either.
