I was thinking about getting one to start learning trad. Seems like a fun rabbit hole to go down
I concur!!
It’s fun but frustrating
Haha! Great stuff!
And with correct shot placement it will harvest just as much as a $1500.00 bow would.
My son had the longbow version of the black hunter for a while...these are actually great bows
Dang Josh at that price you've got me looking at this trad bow
I have the recurve and long bow black hunters, they shoot better than some of my high dollar customs! I hope you bag a big one with it this year 👍🏻
Hahah I love it Josh, nice work! The quiver costs more than the bow😂
Haha 2x more
Nice custom bow!
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT
Nice build! I’ve probably shot about 100 arrows through the giveaway bow, it’s so fun to shoot. Definitely not confident enough to shoot a deer yet tho. Honestly it’s making me shoot my compound better with the focus aspect of the longbow.
Really like that bow you customized. Only thing I would change is your base color from black to a brown don’t really care for black in my camo but that is just my preference. My dad painted a 98 Cherokee classic and used a bamboo limb for the stencil. It still looks awesome over 10 years later. Are you selling these bows custom made by you or your just showing us how to customize our own?
Love it! Thanks for sharing Josh!
Have you messed with putting a gap in your Velcro rest (for quill clearance)? Ive been doing that for at least 30 yrs. BTW, it shows how in a Blackwidow owner's manual 🙂
Great Video! 🏹
Good job, great video. I took notes im going to do this to my china bow. I didn't like the huge white 45@28. I'll do something different😂
Haha my handwriting is horrible too. And the paint marker came out fast 😂
Excellent
Classic
I got a samick sage shoots as good as the rest of them , just throw a fast flight string on and go !
Is this the same kind of bow that Patrick was shooting a couple of videos ago?
Yes
How does it shoot ? Arrows you’re using ? Great job on it. Looks fantastic.
Patrick had the same bow it shot great honestly
Can you safely draw 30" with it? If so i might have to get one too. I was shooting a old HCA split force and it definitely split itself apart from the force lol. I guess drawing 30 inches on a 27.5 cam wasn't the best idea. Was looking for a ILF rig i could grow with but it might be something like this or no bow season for me this year.
Yeah should be fine
Why use Velcro instead of stealth strip for the rest? Fun video, and looking forward to seeing the bow in a harvest video this year!
I found that the Velcro works a bit better. I think it's softer for the arrow to rest on.
I've tried stealth strips. It will work in a pinch, but the soft material wears out faster than cheap velcro.
@@DougPABowhunter yep I've had the same experience
My issue...maybe mine alone. Look around you. Lots if stuff is no longer made in the US. Wonder why ? For me, a garage bow maker, to build a bow like that will cost me about $ 70 minimum for parts i cannot make. Two strips of glass, various chunks of wood, epoxy for building, epoxy finish to finish. Now add the tools and expendables, like sandpaper, solvebts, drill press, files, saws. Oh...a bandsaw instead of a hand saw...cha.ching... i already have a hot box...guess you could wrap it in black plastic and put it in your car on a hot day. How about a form ? Gotta build one of those. Clamps or fire hose ( or similar more expensive stuff for factory builds). Oh...and my time...if i do not add any fir my time i still can hardly build a bow for that cost...much less ship it around the world. The bowstring....hey buy the parts or the finished string...that just put me over the cost budget above. I simply have a hard time buying cheap stuff from a source that is trying to put the US out of business.
I completely understand. If I had an extra $1000 laying around I would have bought an American made bow.
Do you put a nocking stop (or whatever they're called) on the string?
Yep I did that this morning. Just didn't have time to get it all the way setup from filming yesterday
A true okie
Haha not sure what the means
