    I send the location to the game warden. On public it is a shared natural resource. People who take advantage of it in that way aren’t always terrible people but I let the game warden make the decision, I just do my part to notify them.

    Many people make mock scrapes and add deer attractants to existing and mock scrapes. I just can't wrap my head around waking up to a mock scrape or an existing scrape. No amount of deer attractant can mask human scent at the point of the scrape. For the question posed, I mind my own business.

    Fair chase sais bait is placed for the taking of an animal and that the area is considered baited for 10 days after removal of the bait and the affected ground. … if removed 10 days before season starts is it baiting to take an animal?

    Option C...you take a pic of the cam, screw in mount, mineral site, mark the sites GPS coordinates , remove the camera and unscrew the mount and drop it all off at the DNR. Or option D, all the above but relocate the cam to another spot.... 😂

    Whoever is baiting is going to get caught it’s just a matter of time before someone walks by and drops a dime on them.
    I would avoid the area altogether and hunt somewhere else. If the spot is good especially from a map standpoint other people will see it and the warden will end up in there soon enough.

    If you are on Hoosier National I’m not for 100% certain but I believe state baiting regulations apply. However if you are on a property that doesn’t allow any baiting you know who to send the pins to, he will check it out for sure. It just puts everyone on a tough spot though I’d be super nervous to be hunting anywhere around there though when you aren’t the responsible party for putting it out.

    Rules don't work unless they're enforced. I call in every illegal bait station and mineral pile i see on public. It is every hunters business if folks are baiting when not legal. Without rules we might as well be animals.

      personally I usually would just move on but after last year I see the need to report it. I was on a public land draw hunt that was just a three day hunt. I had scouted several spot prior to the hunt. The week of the hunt I was scouting the areas again to hang stand. Walked to first spot and found cell camera right where I was going to go. I started to move on and as I walked away seen another camera facing at the first cell camera about 40 yards away. It had feed in front of it. I left went to second spot found another cell cam looked to be same brand with same lock. I just moved on i didn't want to get close enough to know if feed was in front of it. Found a third spot with same style of camera. My friend told game warden about first spot. He told us that we couldn't hunt anywhere near that spot. Being this was a three day hunt that I got drawn for this person was ruining all the these spots for everyone. If game warden had caught anyone near the bait wether they did it or not they would be fighting a ticket at the very least.

      Rules and laws are only there to keep honest people in check. The poachers are gonna poach and fines won’t stop them. “Well take their licenses” but they are poachers that doesn’t mean shit either. At least with an illegal bait pile you know where they are gonna be hunting so move on. They will get what’s coming to the one way or another but if they get caught they will just move and now could be messing up another of your spots.

  • @paulstevens6944
    @paulstevens6944 16 днів тому +1

    Here in Wisconsin it is illegal to bait in certain counties. They put these restrictions on certain counties for CWD reasons. I do a lot of scouting and come across mineral sites with cameras on them a lot and it drives me nuts. For one, its the worst thing that could be out there if they are trying to combat CWD as it causes the deer to lick the same items. Also it is a lazy mans way of scouting instead of trying to strategically place your cameras in areas the deer need to walk in front of. I typically will turn them into the DNR if it is mineral but if it is just corn piles I do not. If its corn piles I just move to a completely different area as they have ruined that spot by constantly going in and out to bait.

    I think i said on your live the other day to turn him in. But I thought about it
    Jesus said in John 8:7 “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her"
    I think its best to just move on. Hunt your own hunt and let him cheat. God sees him.
    Ive walked across folks on public land with all sort of violations. Often its a teaching moment if you have your kids with you. " See how this fellow broke the rules. In our family we always do whats right. God would have you to always follow the rules even when no one is watching"
    Anyway. Just another way of looking at it.

    I mind my own business when I find illegal setups. Most of the time the CO couldn't/wouldn't do anything unless there was a hunter hunting over the bait or if you had photo/video evidence of a person putting out the bait or screwing in the steps. I suppose a CO could try to access the cams memory card but idk.

      My brother found a huge pile of what appeared to be “yellow Acorns” last year on some government land we hunt a lot behind my grandparents. he was walking through the woods making a video on his phone about it then he said he looked up and lo and behold the culprit was looking down on him from his also illegal ladderstand on said government land. He climbed down and talked too my brother and asked him if he was going too report him and my brother said he wasn’t but he told the guy he shouldn’t be doing it especially on government land where it literally ruins the spot for everyone. We know who it is due too the only access being through private land. Our buddy’s dad works at the jail and my brother said he was going too borrow one of his sheriff’s outfits and walk in front of the guys cameras but not where you could see his face lol he didn’t do it but I can only imagine because the guys pretty much didn’t hunt there the rest of the year after that incident
