Ioniq 5 owner here. Tempting to want to trade it in for something like this. Finally, a proper 3rd row EV! Holding out to see if Hyundai's version of this with the Ioniq 7 ends up being more my style preference. But this as is is pretty good.

Looks beautiful and I love the steering wheel, the door pulls, the overall looks inside and out. This is a game changer for those who can afford it. Makes me miss my Borrego in a way, but I know this is so much better in a lot of ways.

It's finally here!!! I heard Korea is discounting these a lot because people aren't buying them due to high prices. I suppose you wouldn't know if that's going to happen in Canada?
Starting at $59,995 less $5,000 Federal IZEV rebate.....it's going to sell. We are much cheaper than Korea and USA.
@@BrantfordKiaAgreed, a base 5 seat Tesla Model Y, which is a much smaller vehicle with a very basic interior and less features starts at 58k MSRP in Canada

Fantastic! I didn't expect that you'd have one so quickly. Any idea what the wait time is if ordered from your dealer?
In Q1, Kia is retooling several plants for EV production so we expect the majority of product to arrive Q3 and Q4. The shipping plan for Canada is way better than EV6 was when it came out, so if you order now I would say Q3/Q4.

The car is nice but the range is not good. I think it should have maybe at least 120 kw battery and an option to add to 150kwh battery.
The dealer told me 2 years wait time....Or is it sitting in a lot somewhere...

Is Kia Canada going to step-up their allocations? Seems to be long wait lists and very high demand here in BC dealerships are saying 18 months if you pre order today. Meanwhile the US is getting significantly more units and can find ones for sale on some lots right now.
Yes, Canada has a robust shipping plan for 2024 on the EV9. It's roughly double the EV6 when it was first introduced. Q1, several plants are retooling to increase production of EV's, so the majority of product will arrive in Q3 and Q4. The majority of EV's go to BC and Quebec due to the ZEV mandates. EV's are not selling as well in USA as in Canada which means we will continue to get more product.
@BrantfordKia Great point, and with US incentives not available for foreign built EVs, I expect Canada will benefit from more Kia, Hyundai and Genesis EV allocation

Hi, Great questions! While exact replacement costs can vary and are influenced by market trends, battery prices have been decreasing over time. For example the Kia Soul EV (2016-2019) battery replacement cost was about $30,000 CAD when it was first released, It is now around $3000. When it comes to warranty, Kia Canada offers a coverage of 8-year / 160,000 km on the High Voltage Battery, ensuring coverage for potential failures.

I expected this to have more then my 2023 Sorento SX Prestige but guess I was wrong
While the Sorento SX is extremely well equipped, It is considered a “fully loaded” trim level. This is only an entry trim of the Kia EV9. We can expect much more new tech and comfort features as we move up the trim scales.

That key is huge! Glad you ladies mentioned that there is an option to use a smartphone as a key alternative. I use my Apple watch or iPhone as a key to my car. Very convenient!
Big question i do have. How well do the door handles work if the vehicle is glazed in ice?
Personally feel the EV9 is a cool vehicle though too large. Cannot wait to see the EV5 or whichever one will be much smaller, or similar to the Sportage

Great review. I love this car, but they desperately need an EV that is in between the EV6 and EV9! I just want a 2-row EV SUV the same size as a Tucson or in between Tucson and Santa Fe.
We will have the Kia EV5 that will be in the Sportage/Seltos size range coming to Canada ! We are expecting it in 2025.
I know that manufacturers have to visually show that they made changes to a model but I like the fact that Kia didn’t completely throw the design book out the window.
The front looks good but I’d rather have the clean straight line instead of that smaller window in the back that’ll only reduce side visibility.

If you look at the front fenders at the top, it doesn't align at all with the front doors. That's a huge design flaw. How did it make it to production like that?
I don't think there's a problem
I think you're seeing something that isn't really there. The fit and finish is pretty much perfect in person. Nothing is misaligned.

Hi. Good video. Do you know if this cars sensor will tolerate a hitch mounted bike rack?
We haven’t tried that yet so I can’t say with full certainty. I believe it will only beep if the bike rack is loaded. Otherwise you are able to turn the sensors off with the touch of a button so the alarm wont go off every time you enter reverse.

How can I recharge the car ?
Hi! While I’m not too familiar with the area or infrastructure over in Australia, as we are based quite far away (Ontario, Canada) You can absolutely drive from Melbourne to Sydney in an EV or specifically the EV9. However, it will require planning due to the distance (around 877 kilometres) and the need for charging stations along the route. Plan your journey ahead, considering charging station locations, charging times, and your car's range.
So it doesn’t include a level 2 evse? Just level 1 for home ?
