- Today's Vlog Video we found a Big Kmart near me. We went toured a Vintage Kmart/ Big Kmart Store from the 1990s. It was a throwback to childhood in real life. Very Nostalgic from the "in store music" and 2016 commercials. It was Christmas, there was Layaway all year around though, history of old IBM computers you better haul yourself to this location is not closing anytime soon.

Now? 3 stores left. In the country. Kmart didn't have the best overall inventory, quality-wise, but they had some decent picks, great Christmas decorations, and one of my go-tos for Halloween as well. Seeing this video now is just...depressing. ( But, I'll enjoy the Kmart items I do have over the holidays for as long as they last. Thanks for the good memories, and God bless to any former employees who miss their old jobs at the store. Dang, I still remember the "Blue Light Specials" with the actual BLUE lights decades ago. )

I worked at Kmart and when we liquidated someone bought the blood pressure machine for $10 just to have it as a souvenir I guess lol
Every video I have seen if a Kmart those machines have a sticker on them saying not to liquidate, they have so many versions from over the years. I suspect they have to be distroyed because they have the company name on and need to be calibrated from time to time and they don't want any legal issues, if you sold it for $10 someone messed up.
have you seen the kmart stuff going on ebay after liquidation. some people have made good money on that stuff. when our store was having the going out of business sale someone asked to buy a shopping cart. the manager had a good laugh and said no because it belongs to the company.
I will forever miss Kmart. When I was about 5 til whatever age, it was/had started as S.S. KRESGEES. A 'dime store' they called them. The one I got to go to in Louisville Ky had a diner...my favorite thing to order was an apple dumpling.

My day off, bored a bit....came across this video. I was thinking of the kmarts in Louisville and Jeffersonville indiana.
Honestly and oddly enough....many great memories. Like getting my film development there....being so excited to see my photos. Christmas and back to school layaway....saved my dad and helped him get the things he wanted for us.

I remember those days we have one where I live and I just love going in there and walking through every single aisle thinking of all the memories I have there that was also before we had a Walmart and the target I always used to go to when I was younger got shut down about 4 years ago
My local K Mart in southeastern Pennsylvania closed in early 2017. Within a month it'd been demolished and the sum total of that building which held memories of shopping trips was reduced to three large piles of rubble each piece of rubble being no larger than a softball. The steel skeleton had been dismantled and sold for scrap as the remains of the building was ground-up. It was, to say the least, a sad sight.
In the fall of 2017 construction began on a new supermarket for a large, regional chain. By May of 2018 the doors of the new market were thrown-open to the general public. The area was my old stomping grounds but I have yet to visit this new supermarket though that remains on my must do list.

My k mart as a kid is now a cosco. I miss it. K mart was a huge store to go to. Now, I guess it's wal mart. I remember when cosco was price club
isn't it crazy how kmarts never even tried to modernize as the years went by? On Saturday at 6pm I will be posting a video of my exploration of a Big K in it's very last day, and man the floors were horrid, so dirty and soiled with whatever leaked out of the products on the shelves. There were ads and coupons embedded in the sticky floors from the 90s, and even an ad for a PS2 and games like Star Wars Force Unleashed for $50 lol :)

my local Kmart in Plattsburgh New York used to be in a mall years ago the mall was torn down in 2000 and Kmart is the only part of the mall that remains the rest of it was demolished. but the Plaza is still called Champlain Centre South which was the malls name the Plaza consist kmart,price chopper supermarket which is now market 32 ,lowes home improvement store,dollar tree which was a former petco, rent a center ,planet fitness which was a another dollar store called Yankee one dollar, bed bath and beyond and kmart, Applebee's, Friendly's restaurant
Yeah, we had a KMart near me until 2015 or so and it looked just like this. Obviously new products but few people shopping ( there was a WalMart next to it ) and very few workers. They didn’t play old music I will say that.

Yeah, Kmart is a dying breed. I totally HATE shopping there!!! The shopping experience there is not like it used to be. Only a guy at a customer service standing there and just two registers. The service there sucks horribly, like when my Dad tried to ask someone in the Jewelry counter, NO ONE was there. What's more? The Electronics section was horrible, not as great as Walmart's or even Target. Man, I would love to see them go out of business FOR GOOD!
This makes me feel so lucky that I work in a place in which I choose the music. Those awful Christmas songs would drive me crazy!

i really liked this video. K-mart was really popular back when they had the k-cafe. now the store is thousands of dollars in debt so eventually they will all be closed along with sears. it's nice you got footage to remember this place.

The Dale City, Virginia Kmart closed in December 2014, which looked like the one in your video. It had opened in 1981. This left the county without a Kmart. The building sat abandoned until summer 2016 when a home decor store came and took over the building. Remember "Attention, Kmart Blue Light Shoppers?"

Our local K-Mart was turned into several large piles of rubble in the blink of an eye after it closed with, seemingly, no single piece larger than a softball. Adding insult to injury (I'd say) the turn around on the site being used to construct a flagship grocery store was very fast as well. K-Mart is your savings store where your dollar buys you more....

This is not a 70's, 80's, or even 90's Kmart. This is what all remaining Kmarts look like now. It's exactly like the one in Matamoras, PA. They've turned into bargain basement junk stores.

Dude how young are you? I was born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s. Kmart is normal to me. I'm only in my 30s and so Kmart is not ancient by any means. Some are outdated, they bring in low sales so no updating, and those are mostly the ones that closed. But the ones that stayed open are mostly the ones that got updated. Good video though I liked it.

Kmart executives must be dense or something. They refuse to update or remodel their stores that have looked pretty much the same since the '70s. Even supermarket chains know enough to remodel their stores every 10 years or so. But Kmart refuses to adapt. And they wonder why they're struggling.
