ABOUT THE UPLIFTING VIBE OF THE SONG. Actually, in an interview, John said in a serious note that the album was released with the global crisis in mind too, and the last thing he could've done is to make the whole album dark sounding during the pandemic. So it's sort of a gift from the wizard to counter the crisis. They've released about a dozen albums in the last 30 years. If you dig deep in DT, you'll find a lot of the stuffs you're looking for.
I love this song, it has a very Cliffs of Dover vibe to it and I'm all for that! Plus, it's so nice to see John and Mike playing together again. Those two together are pure magic.
This could possibly be theeee best instrumental album ever because all musicians stand out. Usually the drummer just plays simple beats. John lets Mike Portnoy go off which just enhances the guitar parts. You don't hear this type of drumming with Joe Satriani or Steve Vai who are legendary guitarists. Super fun and super epic!!
Absolutely clinical. So easy for him. Two great live performances I wish would consider. SRV live in mocambo...Texas flood. Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa live...I’ll take care of you. This man is a machine.
It's amazing for me to watch peoples reactions to some of the artists and musicians I grew up listening to.....there just isn't music like there used to be. Everything is so watered down. No one really plays there instruments anymore.....a lot of chords.....no innovation
Hi Tim how about something a bit different, a genre of Metal that is not so well known in the USA, Symphonic Metal, this song is from one of my favorite bands, the Dutch symphonic metal band EPICA, it's a song about the machines taking over!, this video is awesome (not just a lyric video), drop this into youtube search: EPICA - Universal Death Squad (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO)
Petrucci is the most complete guitar player there is/ever was in my opinion. Everything he does is just simply amazing.
