Three years since I last left a comment and this is still my favorite Trek film. It fits into canon seamlessly, and I still love both characters. I truly wish there were more.
At first I thought this was going to be a touchy-feeling chick flick set in the Star Trek universe... then it got dark... and touching. This film explores a relatively unseen side of the Star Trek mythos - the life of a privateer in Federation Space. Excellent film. Excellent writing. Excellent animation and realization. Wow. More please.
I found this completely by accident. I have to say, this is decently animated and extremely well written. I don't normally like fan films, but this one is simply astonishing. Great job!
Twelve years later and this episode still leaves me a quivering puddle at the end. This and Starship Exeter still stand at the top of the alt-Trek pyramid. Thanks and bravo, Tim!
This is the best independent Star Trek film I have ever seen! The animation is smooth and the voice acting is awesome. The MC is interesting and engaging and her back story is makes her feelings of loneliness feel legitimate!!
Dear lord, this is good. Probably the best fanmade movie I've seen so far. Love the pacing. Love the characters. Everything really original. And fits into the canon quite well. MAKE A TV SERIES PLEASE!!!!!!
Thanks! Glad it's worth another look! If you haven't already, make sure to check out Aurora's second episode "Mudd in Your I" as well as our new production "Quest of the Key" here on this channel.
Thanks! Unfortunately Paramount won't allow me to make more--they don't allow for repeat characters in fan films. If you want to see what I'm up to now, please check out Quest of the Key: ua-cam.com/video/nj0nRl5vp14/v-deo.htmlsi=V3UiBxdw1Fm38vrk
Gotta say I love this movie. THat said, as a mom, if I passed and my kids needed to do that to survive, I'm good with it, and hope they'd make it through as well.
This had the star trek spirit I missed since the latest episode of TNG. You gave my life a spark back again I lost as a child. This is a gem, a keeper. I absolutely love this. Thanks for sharing it.
I can't believe I'm seeing this again, and as a complete movie! I remember when this was just one part, and with only a small amount of music to go with it; then it got expanded to three more parts! Great story, great animation, and most of all, great _characters_ (Kara and T' ling in particular), all rendered in one of the commercial CGI art programs! You should really take a bow, Auroratrek, this is still amazing work. Best regards, Neville6000 (Neville A. Ross)
Thanks! Yes, animation is a slow process, so the incremental rollout was the only way to remain (relatively) sane. Thanks for sticking with it till the end!
This is some of the best writing & story-telling I've ever seen in Star Trek, period. I found this video today, May 18th., 2022. Hard to believe it's been over 10 years since this was created as a fan-fiction. I offer my compliments and appreciation for the efforts and talents that were poured into this work of excellence. Thank you for sharing a tale that tugged on my heart-strings. :-)
Thank you! Yes, so long ago I didn't even know there were other Star Trek fan films out there when I first started! ;-) I think there are a number of really good fan films out there, and I feel like the Star Trek universe in particular can bring out one's best for storytelling. I'm grateful for having been able to tell a couple of stories in that universe and share them with others like yourself. I'm hoping I can do something similar in my new series "Quest of the Key"--please check out an excerpt here, where you might notice a couple of familiar faces... ua-cam.com/video/Xh_5kZSM4I0/v-deo.html
It's little things like this that when made with true heart help me to believe that just maybe Star Trek ain't quite dead yet. And this has way more heart than Discovery, Picard and Lower Decks put together...The Great Bird of the Galaxy would approve... Bravo, and thankyou (Damn, I just realized this was posted 10 years ago)
Stumbled across an 11 minute video of the 1st part I had downloaded in DiVX format about a decade ago. It was on my long term video archives. Watched it again then did a search of UA-cam for the complete thing. NOT DISAPPOINTED! This is Star Trek as we used to know it. Fantastic animation / production and a better plot than Star Trek: Discovery....!!!! Thoroughly enjoyed this - and I'm sorry, but T'Ling is smoking HOT.....!!!! Looking forward to watching more series in this Fan Production. Well done, wonderful work!
LOL--thanks for tracking down the finished video, and glad you enjoyed it! We tried to emulate old-school Trek, so I'm glad you liked those aspects of it.
I have been putting off watching this... It keeps on popping up on my recommendations so I decided to give it a go. Why oh why did I not watch it earlier!
Absolutely brilliant the graphics, acting and story are excellent. Easily the best fan made star trek on UA-cam. Congratulations to you all on a excellent job.
it is 1:12 am monday April 20th, 2020 and I just watched this movie for the 54th time and it never gets old and infact makes me feel better during this pandemic lockdown. And now for the second awesome movie of Aurora Mudd in your eye thank you to the creator of these two incredible movies. I do wish you could make more.
I have honestly watched this first movie at least 60 times and every time I watch it, it never gets old, it makes me feel good, and at all the right times makes me Laugh Keep making more episodes that you can. As you are doing an absolutely awesome job at make these episodes. Thank You.
this happens to be my 30th time i have watched this and the one "Here's mudd in your eye". Tim Vining and his family and friends have done an amazingly incredible job at making the two shows. my hat's off to them for a job very well done.
I've looked at the new rules for Trek fan films, and with some tiny tweaks, Aurora could continue. I still keep these eps in my Trek fan film play list. 🙂
Glad you're still checking out these eps! I think the rules are still against recurring characters, so that would be an issue, I think. Of course, if they happen to show up in another story... ua-cam.com/video/nj0nRl5vp14/v-deo.htmlsi=APOFJCJmfyU1qYZU&t=156
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, the internet is a mysterious place--who can understand why or how we find things on it ;-) Make sure to check out our other productions on this channel, like Mudd in Your I, and Quest of the Key!
Mr. Vining, your story line is phenomenal! You brought part of the Star Trek universe (the part that almost never sees the light of day, namely the non-military) to life. The story of having a second chance to see departed loved ones and a second chance to right poor choices, all in one story line was truly wonderful. This story resonates with a wide audience on such a number of levels. I thought it was truly wonderful and I applaud you, sir. Thank you. The versatile voice talent of (Mrs?) Vining also did not go unnoticed. Great job. Would love to see more of such top notch material.
Thank you! I had further adventures in mind, but the latest CBS/Paramount fan film guidelines don't allow it. Make sure to watch Mudd in Your I, if you haven't ( @ ), and I hope you will give Quest of the Key a look as well! ( @ )
@@Auroratrek Have not been able to find Quest for the Key. Trailer looked good. Mudd in your I was done well, but the main theme did not resonate with me near as well as your first feature.
@@Al-mf4uo Thanks! So far I've only published the trailer and some tests for "Quest"--it's taking a while to get retooled for the new production. "Mudd" was meant to be lighter and sillier, so wouldn't have the same feels as the first one. Hope you found it fun anyway!
@@Auroratrek Yes, thought Mudd was fun, too. I love your creativity and sense of humour! Resonates with mine, for sure. Can hardly wait for Quest. Based on the Trailer, there are many great directions you could go with the story Line. As a hobby writer, I have a particular appreciation for the incredible amount of Work it is to write a good script. The choreography of dialogue and movement is huge. Most people can't write it, but they appreciate it when they read ( or View) it. The right comment at the right Moment makes a good show fantastic. Tough to do, when you already have a zillion other things on the go, but you've done a great job so far! Al
Huge Trekkie/Trekker here and that was OUTSTANDING! So glad I came across this while watching fan made Trek. I would love to see more. You have earned yourself a Sub =)
Ok, as a "Trek" fan have to say I am generally very disappointed with these fan vids. The acting is bad or the cgi just doesn't do Star Trek justice at all! But, I want to see more of this. It has what I look for in Star Trek, chemistry between the characters, twists, and human drama. Thank you so much for this worthy contribution, and keep 'em coming, PLEASE!!
FANTASTIC! What a wonderful surprise:) Great job! I LOVED it!:) The story, cinematography, sound/music, 3D animation - everything was so well done and put together. BIG kudos. A quick background to appreciate why I loved it so much: As a kid in the 60's, I was enthralled w/ the original Star Trek. Jump forward to the 90's - I became a 3D animator (after earning an Electrical Engineering degree w/ emphasis on computers/robotics). And, jump to the present - I discovered Star Trek fanfiction. Late to the party? Well, I'd heard of it, but never pursued it. The quality does vary, so perhaps I was "less than enthused" in my first encounter. Anyhow, I recently discovered the excellent, "Star Trek Continued", and was blown away! So, I started looking for other quality productions... then I found "Aurora"... and, again, FANTASTIC! P.S. Looking forward to enjoying, "Mudd in Your I", and learning about the creative/talented people behind this outstanding Star Trek fanfiction. Thx for your contribution to the enduring legacy.
I loved it! Great story, believable characters, loveable main character, fun dialogue. You deserve professional backing! I wish there were more stories with Kara!
Thanks a bunch for this nice and refreshing peek into the civilian life of Trek life, this conversations are way more relatable than your average Federation Flagship's, prim and proper officers, since they're between average joes whom are not bound by chain of command protocols and whatnot, which is helped by a superb voice over. Now, I know everybody says this whenever they see a well done fan production but, imagine this with a proper budget and a studio that respects the author's vision... And I realized while typing this, that you've made another one.... Can't wait to see Kara dealing with that interestellar rascal, the hu-man who'd cause, even the shrewdest of Ferengi, to blush.
Thank you! I was always interested in the "civilians" in Star Trek, so it was a lot of fun to explore that side of the Trek universe. Yes, even a middling budget would help a lot on a project like this, but we do the best we can! Hope you like "Mudd in Your I"
@@Auroratrek Loved it, it was very funny without plain turning into comedy, the Klingons were simply great, and Kara of Arc trying to use epic language to relate to the Klingons was the funniest bit in my opinion, superb how it worked together with the General's newly found gender dysphoria. Both films felt like true Trek throgh and through, it's a shame the ripples of the "Hoaxanar" are barring you from making more, and it's a shame, because it is because of fans' tenacity that Star Trek lasted for more than a decade in the first place. Thanks again for this.
I don't even know how I found this. It isn't easy finding anything Star Trek beyond clips on youtube in my experience. Thanks for this, and it has helped me find other productions like it.
This story made me think about things that could have been and made me cry. That means it's as real as any Star Trek can get. Bravo. I had started watching this years ago and the animation had bothered me then, but watching it again, this is at least as good as the professional TV show "Reboot" (if anyone remembers that). When a fan production can do the same production as something from the '90s, I think that's a testament to the creators and their technology.
andrewriker this is one of my favorite fan made Star Trek films. It's great I hope the creators can continue to make more episodes with These main characters. They make a great team.
The new CBS fan film rules don't allow further Aurora adventures, but check out a trailer for our new movie, Quest of the Key: ua-cam.com/video/9K-haAwZtww/v-deo.html
That was a really good fan flick. I have watched many hundreds of them. Fuck CBS. You ended on a cliff hanger. The new 30 minute time span is stupid and draconic.
I watched this with my cousin expecting to get a laugh at a fanfic....instead we both loved it!!!! Great job!! Body language and facial expressions were great!
Just rewatched this again today. It still makes me start tearing up, even though I know exactly what's going to happen and how it's going to end. Thanks again Tim for sharing this with the world.
I second that. Even the simple moment of seeing the Merc sitting there in dock as the stolen shuttle docks at the station. I think in that case, already knowing makes the tears flow only that much harder.
I saved this long as I could, since I knew there'd likely be no more. 🙁 💖 Kara and T'Ling. I'm seriously gonna miss them. 😢 Thanks Tim for bringing them to beautiful animated life and sharing them with us all. 👏 And absolutely looking forward to "Quest for the Key" when it's ready. LL&P 🖖🙂
Thanks! I had a lot of fun with Kara and T'Ling, and feel like we got to explore many sides of their characters in a relatively short amount of time. So, tho I would have liked to explore more stories, I'm really glad I was able to show them both in serious and silly circumstances, and long enough for many people like yourself to grow fond of them--for a storyteller, you can't ask for much more than that.
There's a former writer from Stargate SG1 that posts pictures of spaceships everyday and everyone tries to name them. I won cause I enjoyed this story while back and could identify Aurora!. Got in the mood to rewatch. Damn good writing. Enjoyed it again.
Watched numerous times and it still gets me teary.. despite what life throws at us the biggest comfort and truly blessed is knowing somewhere in a different universe things are always better! Don’t give up!
If you haven't seen it, there is "Mudd in Your I" ua-cam.com/video/bkEm0btAgBI/v-deo.html the second Aurora movie. Unfortunately Paramount/CBS pulled the plug on fan films like Aurora just after that, so I can't make any more Aurora movies. That said, also make sure to check out the teaser for Quest of the Key, our newest effort: ua-cam.com/video/9K-haAwZtww/v-deo.html It's not Star Trek, but we plan to bring a similar vibe to this new adventure.
Lovely film! Simple in it's animation yet so rich in his storyline elements. It felt part of a bigger series, as if I was already familiarized with the characters and their relationship, probably due that it was set at the Star Trek universe (thought very simplistic with it's references - but well done). First time visiting this channel, so whoever nailed that appreciative cooperation between Kara and T'Ling, congratulations!
Regardless of how many more of these you make, this will always be my favorite one. Even in the Star Trek universe family is everything. thank you for making something that keeps reminding me not to blow my own head off.
Delightful, it's nice to see a series about the 'normal' lives of Star Trek civilians. Most fan-made shows are about something that threatens the entire Federation or the alteration of time. I would definitely watch this series, thank you for the experience.
CBS: *Aurora* caused me to decide I *will* watch the new 2017 series. Pick up novels, etc. The 70s fanzines were the basis for restarting commercial Star Trek; contemporary fan media increases your profit in commercial areas by keeping us interested, engaged, eager for the canon expansion. But no one can do this quality in 15 minute segments, with no story longer than two segments. Please change the non-commercial fan license rules for *your* benefit as much as ours. #FreeAuroraTrek
Wow! This is without a doubt the best-written fan film I've ever seen. The characterisation and plot are excellent. The script is one area where fan films consistently fall down, but you nailed it. I can't wait to see what you do next. :)
Nice job. This has an important element so many other fan films don’t have. Good acting. The voices are well miked, the script is good and the production quality is excellent.
I may begin the custom of leaving a comment every time I re-watch this. I just love Aurora! I'm home recovering from the flu isolating watching old Star Treks and I just felt like it was a good evening for Aurora. I would have to say this is my second favorite fan-made Trek behind only Star Trek Continues. And in all honesty your production is a better story than a couple of their episodes. I sure wish there were more of this. I wonder if we could write some fanfiction? As long as it wasn't for money? There must be some way to keep this going. Besides it being part of my Daydream Star Trek universe.
LOL--thanks for checking in! Hope it helped a little with your recovery, if only to take your mind off your sniffles. Yes, ST Continues is really well done, and very enjoyable. I think fan fiction is still safe from prosecution, as well as day dreams! ;-)
@@TheMsLourdes Thanks! Unfortunately, CBS/Paramount kind of pulled the plug on Trek fan films a couple years ago, so it's not really possible for us to make more Aurora in this form. We are working on a new project called "Quest of the Key," which is not Star Trek, but will share DNA in its tone and storytelling. And, to your other recent comment, we promise to try to make you "not cry" ;-) You can see an excerpt here on this channel with a couple of familiar faces--we hope you check it out! ua-cam.com/video/Xh_5kZSM4I0/v-deo.html
I love this! I am a Poser artist, but never considered using the animation features for anything. Very nice work, and the main characters' voice actors are top notch. Love it.
I would love to see more of the adventures of the Aurora and its crew. I keep coming back to this fan films, and I still find them to be very enjoyable indeed.
@spaceace1006, CBS _didn't_ put in _any_ 'injunction' against Auroratrek; they simply set up tthe rules that Alec Peters demanded when he violated copyright by making merchandise based on *_his_* _Star Trek_ fanfilm, _Star Trek: Axanar_ and its prequel, _Prelude To Axanar_ (as rightholders of this franchise, the company acted to protect it.) Do you people have any legal knowledge at all?🙄
Simply amazing work and if/when the world moves to kickstarter-style pay-4-tv models, I would be paying for quality like this. As a long time Trek fan I was so surprised how good this was and a joy to watch. Thanks for making my day. :)
Thanks! Unfortunately the new CBS/Paramount fan film guidelines don't allow for more Aurora episodes, but make sure to check out our newest effort-- "Quest of the Key": ua-cam.com/video/9K-haAwZtww/v-deo.html
Aw damn! So very sorry to hear. I'm willing to bet the ranch that this series would have been picked by any number of networks on cable/satellite TV. But thanks for the news on your latest effort.
Very well done, Roddenberry himself would be impressed. Wandering off into a part of the Star Trek universe that's rarely seen, and throwing in so many plot twists. Hope to see more of your work in the future
Discovered this for the first time just now. So glad it's on UA-cam and I was able to watch it. Brought me back to the days when I first watched some Star Trek episode for the first time, not knowing what was going to happen, just enjoying it. And this episode was very well written, could have easily been fit for a real episode / canon and not fan fiction. Some fan-fiction is hit or miss and this one is definitely a hit.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I'm an old, old fan of TOS, so I drew on that more my inspiration, and the timeframe. Make sure to check out "Mudd in Your I" as well, and my new fantasy series Quest of the Key, available here on this channel.
A wonderful story to say the least. Well written and equally presented in a manner that had me clinging to every scene. Looking forward to seeing more. Thank you.
It has been a long time since I have seen such a work of quality animation that had me getting teary-eye and the sniffles. Not often do I encounter a work that "pulls on my heart strings". Bravo
From time to time, I re-watch this masterpiece and wonder how the idea for such a unique story in the Star Trek universe came about. As I watch it, I also tell myself how cool it would be to see it rendered again with UE5.
I think the germ for the idea came from when I would watch the original Star Trek and see civilians out in the galaxy, and wonder more about their stories. Even Harry Mudd, scamp that his is, had to have some serious chutzpah to run around in the same dangerous galaxy that the Enterprise did, but without a heavily-armed starship and 400+ crew. As for the specifics of the story, like most stories, it grew from the characters. I had first conceived of Kara's backstory for why she had "run away" to Xaneerian space, then that spawned the idea of "what if" Kara's life had taken a different turn? The great thing about science fiction is that you can go take a look! ;-) Yeah, it would be nice to see it in higher resolution, but it is a product of its time. Thanks for coming back for a look! I hope you've also checked out Quest of the Key as well!
@@Auroratrek Thank you for your answer. I agree with everything. The beauty of science fiction is the ability to explore and imagine narrative paths even within a well-defined historical context, because there are billions of untrodden paths. I, too, have written things related to the Star Trek universe, about ordinary life, without going on a starship. But Star Trek has always been a great source of inspiration for many of us. To think of Aurora as an outdated product baffles me. That may be true, but honestly, when I think of all the work behind it, the attention to detail, the dedication, the sacrifice and the time spent, I find it impossible to think of it as a product that cannot be reimagined. For my part, I share it from time to time with my groups of friends, even though in Italy it is difficult to share products in the English language. Of course, things have improved in recent years from a linguistic point of view, but culturally we are used to dubbing in Italian. But I repeat, fortunately things are changing. Of course I follow Quest for the Key, of course I do. I even left some comments.
@@SimonePizzi Thanks! Yes, science fiction is a great place to contemplate the possibilities, and has a long history, arguably going back to the ancient Greeks. Unfortunately, I don't speak Italian, but maybe there could be a way to translate the subtitles--mabye with AI?
@@Auroratrek It would be interesting to translate the subtitles. Manually it is impossible... too much text and not enough time. Maybe it could be done with DeepL since entire video games like Disco Elysium are translated there (amateurishly of course).
Thanks for coming back for another look! Yes, I wish I could have continued, but I'm glad I was able to finish the two episodes. I do think about what a live action version would be like sometimes, particularly when I'll see an actress and think "Hey, they could play Kara..."
Watched this episode again. I can very much identify with Kara, with her inner pain and longing for what was viciously ripped away from her. I lost my mom suddenly when I was a bit older than she was. I also lost my family for a long time, afterwards. It took 20 years for the self-inflicted wounds to form enough scar tissue, before reconciliation could start. I dream of being able to go back to that week, or even that night, to maybe, just maybe, change the outcome. Perhaps it is enough to hope, in another universe, she lived a full life and saw her great-grandchildren children. Well done. Please continue to give us more of Kara and T'Ling.
Despite being set in space and the future, Star Trek has always been about the human condition. The actress who voices Kara lost her father at a very young age, so I think she was able to identify with Kara, too. Another thing that Star Trek presents is a universe of possibilities based in science, so your hope may be well-founded! Glad you enjoyed the show.
Currently the fan film guidelines from Paramount don't allow me to make more Aurora episodes, but in the meantime, make sure to check out our new production "Quest of the Key." ua-cam.com/video/nj0nRl5vp14/v-deo.htmlsi=dwd_XAs1CtzpH9sq
Absolutely fantastic; pure genius! Thank you so much, not only for the great entertainment, but for the encouragement you have provided in completing this piece. You see I was about to abandon my own hopes of realizing a full scale animated Poser production, but because of your hard work and dedication, my resolve is renewed. I can do this! Thanks Tim; and crew ;)
Holy hell.. That was the best star trek I ever saw.. I actually have tears in my eyes.. You should make more of these.. Get CBS's approval.. Probably upgrade a little bit for tv or just do straight to dvd movies like this is like.. I'd love to see more..
I just stumbled across this. I never watch online fanfilms.... I'm a musician and rarely have time. Thank you! Fantastic.... I had such a great time watching this. I really cared about the characters. ...grabbed my interest and held it the whole time. I hated to see it end! Excellent writing, touching story.... just tremendous. I'm 55 and your "sets" ( I guess thats what you call them ) really brought me back to my younger days watching the original. Bravo... More ...More!!!
As a 65 year old Star Trek fan I have to say the story here is what great science fiction is all about - it's about people. And in this instance, it's a great story about second chances. I highly recommend everyone take the time to watch and enjoy this wonderful story. Well done Auroratrek. One of the best "fan films" I've seen to date. Chris in Winnipeg - Canada 08/Sept/2013.
From Argentina, congratulations, a great story. It's from 2011 and googling the second part of 2016, I hope you can continue with more chapters. Desde Argentina, felicitaciones, una historia genial. Es del 2011 y googleando la segunda parte del 2016, espero que puedan continuar con mas capítulos.
I discovered this as one of the many "Star Trek" recommendations from youtube and I am *VERY* glad I checked it out! I fell in love with it before the title even popped up! It had that "old trek" feel to it in every sense of the way. If this was an official show, I would tune into it and never miss an ep! I really enjoyed the voice acting from everyone, I hope they know they have a fan who wants their autograph! :) Hats off to the writer and Kara's voicing especially! I cried tears at the end.
I'm wondering if the new rules for trek fanfic films can be by-passed by instead of making it not as an animation video or as an actor driven video production, but by putting it in the form of a graphic novel pages on a youtube video. Not as interesting as looking at live action or animated characters on a video production, but for those of us who would like to see more Aurora fan fic, it could be something to think about. It would also be less laborious than animation and you can put out content in faster time.
It'd be a motion comic and it would probably apply. PRoblem if, even if its not, no one wants to test it. This was supposed to be a series, but when the rules came down, well, at least we got this.
this was amazing. I have been a star trek fan since I can remember. I'm 50 yrs old and have seen them all . this was the best fan animated or not storyline I have ever seen in the Star trek theme. I enjoyed it throughly. thank you for a very enjoyable movie. ***** 5 stars!!
Very well done. Excellent ending. Loved the "crew" of one shtick. The relationships seem more genuine than the TV versions of Star Trek which is interesting considering the people aren't real, only computer sims. The TV versions claim friendship but they all seem distant and put up barriers. Should be cheap since everything is in cyberspace. Just the script and programming and I assume the voices are real.
This was a simple, elegant, and heartfelt story I thoroughly enjoyed. The end moved me to tears, and for that I am grateful to all those who took part in making this wonderful short story set in the Star Trek universe. Very excellently done. I am glad I came across this, after watching Star Trek: Phoenix, which is very good, also. Thank you :)
I have seen some fan made productions in my time, but this blows them out of the water... I'd clicked on it expecting to last a moment or so but I was gripped from beginning to end and enjoyed it so much I watched it again on my 50in plasma widescreen with surround sound. The graphic quality is perfect, story telling is great and I look forward to seeing more your work I am curious about one thing - why did the Romulan ship not destroy the Kara's father's ship instead of firing a single shot to breach the hull
Congratulations on a wonderful animated film based on StarTrek! I can't imagine the hours (weeks, months, years?) of work it took to make this, but you did such good job! Thank you for posting this. A+

You should really take a bow, Auroratrek, this is still amazing work.
Best regards,
Neville6000 (Neville A. Ross)
Thank you! I'm glad you were able to find it! There were a number of contributors to this work, and I agree that they did a great job!
Thanks! Sorry, yes, this was done several years ago. Glad you liked it, tho!
I don't know how many times I've seen this now. I never get tired of it! Such a good story. Good detail.
Thanks! Glad it stands up to repeated views! ;-)
Thanks for checking it out!
Absolutely brilliant the graphics, acting and story are excellent. Easily the best fan made star trek on UA-cam. Congratulations to you all on a excellent job.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
it is 1:12 am monday April 20th, 2020 and I just watched this movie for the 54th time and it never gets old and infact makes me feel better during this pandemic lockdown.
Thank You.
Thanks! I think we all have our favorite go-to movies or shows that we watch again and again, and I'm honored that you found one in Aurora.
this happens to be my 30th time i have watched this and the one "Here's mudd in your eye". Tim Vining and his family and friends have done an amazingly incredible job at making the two shows. my hat's off to them for a job very well done.
Glad you've enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for making this. 1000 times better than Alex Kurtzman's 3 inconsistent seasons of ST:D! Excellent story!
Thank you! We tried to keep it "old school."
i have watched this at least 50 times and each time i watch it i never get bored and i enjoy it more and more. Keep up the great work.
Thanks! Glad you've enjoyed it.
I've looked at the new rules for Trek fan films, and with some tiny tweaks, Aurora could continue. I still keep these eps in my Trek fan film play list. 🙂
Glad you're still checking out these eps! I think the rules are still against recurring characters, so that would be an issue, I think. Of course, if they happen to show up in another story... ua-cam.com/video/nj0nRl5vp14/v-deo.htmlsi=APOFJCJmfyU1qYZU&t=156
the writing is phenomenal. Not sure how it ended up on my feed, but I'm glad it did. Subscribed!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, the internet is a mysterious place--who can understand why or how we find things on it ;-) Make sure to check out our other productions on this channel, like Mudd in Your I, and Quest of the Key!
The most original of all of the Star Trek fan films. Interestingly it focuses on a part of Star Trek universe that is not Star Fleet.
@@wpatrickw2012 It’s a big galaxy, so lots of stories to be told!
@@wpatrickw2012 Thanks! It was a fun side of the Trek world to explore.

In the last 10 years, the tech has vastly improved, so that an animated feature can be made that is almost lifelike. :)
It certainly has! The technology allows for a lot of interesting styles in addition to realism, so a lot of possibilities!
+Richard Hildreth Thanks! Make sure to check out the second Aurora movie "Mudd in Your I" here on this channel!
+Auroratrek: Once again, great work, and good to see that you've got subtitles (close captioning) now included. Also love *Mudd In Your I* as well.
This is still great. I just watched it again.
Thank you again for making this film!
Thanks for coming back! Make sure to check out our new project "Quest of the Key!" ua-cam.com/video/9K-haAwZtww/v-deo.html
+Swami Human To summarize the above, Aurora touched me on many levels. Thx:)

This should totally be an official Star Trek movie. It has the science and stuff, but it always was about people. Thanks.
Thank you! So true!
This was AMAZING!! TY so much, made me cry yall are awesome!

That was a really good fan flick. I have watched many hundreds of them.
Fuck CBS.
You ended on a cliff hanger. The new 30 minute time span is stupid and draconic.
abt 5 min in. already love your ship how its the secondary hull and nasels without a saucer section. just rly caught my eyes right off the bat.
Thanks! I hope you liked the rest of it.

I did enjoy the rest thank you. I was glued to the screen for the whole thing.
Thanks for letting me know--glad you liked it!
With tons of love and care you can see it all neatly fits into the Star Trek universe visuals, ambience, and detail.

Great! I hope you find a way to continue this despite CBS being jerks! All that money they spend producing garbage is unbelievable.
Just rewatched this again today. It still makes me start tearing up, even though I know exactly what's going to happen and how it's going to end. Thanks again Tim for sharing this with the world.
You are very welcome. It's hearing from people like yourself that makes it worth it!
I second that. Even the simple moment of seeing the Merc sitting there in dock as the stolen shuttle docks at the station. I think in that case, already knowing makes the tears flow only that much harder.
I saved this long as I could, since I knew there'd likely be no more. 🙁
💖 Kara and T'Ling. I'm seriously gonna miss them. 😢
Thanks Tim for bringing them to beautiful animated life and sharing them with us all. 👏
And absolutely looking forward to "Quest for the Key" when it's ready.
LL&P 🖖🙂
BTW, I wish Capt Kara could have told Ensign Kara more of her secret. Swisscheese Nebulas, armor plating. Ensign probably could use the Intel!
LOL--that's awesome! Glad I could help you out in that way! ;-) And glad you still liked it after another look. Thanks!
Well, it seems like there is infinite space, but never enough time...@@silvervibranium2832

Auroratrek Any possibility of another show for Aurora? 😋

I think that no matter how advanced we get, family will always be our anchor, our guide, and our strength.
This was friggin awesome. I thought it was going the spoof route but this was a good drama and most of all STAR TREK at it's heart.
Delightful, it's nice to see a series about the 'normal' lives of Star Trek civilians. Most fan-made shows are about something that threatens the entire Federation or the alteration of time. I would definitely watch this series, thank you for the experience.
Thanks! Make sure to check out Mudd in Your I here on this channel for the second Aurora movie!
Wow this kick ass.you can see the hard work that was putted into this cartoon.I love it.
Thank you!
I can't think of anything other than what many have commented here.... "Wow."
Thank you. This was very nicely done.
Thanks, Kurt--fingers crossed!
Wow! This is without a doubt the best-written fan film I've ever seen. The characterisation and plot are excellent. The script is one area where fan films consistently fall down, but you nailed it. I can't wait to see what you do next. :)

Neither was I! I looked away because in couldent handle it at points.
I thoroughly enjoyed this production. Well done to all involved.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
I think fan fiction is still safe from prosecution, as well as day dreams! ;-)
@@Auroratrek I'd love to see more of this, it has such a unique feel and voice. Thank you so much for all you did (so far?)
@@TheMsLourdes Thanks! Unfortunately, CBS/Paramount kind of pulled the plug on Trek fan films a couple years ago, so it's not really possible for us to make more Aurora in this form. Thank you! I'm glad you find them worth another look!

Very well done, Roddenberry himself would be impressed. Wandering off into a part of the Star Trek universe that's rarely seen, and throwing in so many plot twists. Hope to see more of your work in the future
A charming and well told tale worthy of the Star Trek Universe.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

Wow. This is amazing. This is one of the most realistic TV shows I've ever seen. EXTREMELY high quality. Better than most TV.
Good, non-intrusvie music too.
OMG! Great storyline! This would have been a fantastic live action short film! Great job, Tim!
This was absolutely amazing. Pure Genius. Im 24 but i still grew up on star trek from my mom. i know she would have liked this too. Thank you
At least once a year I rewatch this and wish there was more. A live action version would be so awesome 😎
Thanks for coming back for another look! Yes, I wish I could have continued, but I'm glad I was able to finish the two episodes. I do think about what a live action version would be like sometimes, particularly when I'll see an actress and think "Hey, they could play Kara..."
This is better Trek than anything recently. Many thanks 🙏. And I'm still hoping for a live version, fan produced of course 😁
Too damn enjoyable for it to be this short. They should make this a series.
Just found this. Wonderful!! Thank you.
Thanks!
It is great to see this again. Hope you will consider making more episodes or get Paramount interested in a series.

Thanks!
In the age of mo-cap animation, this stands out as a great story telling and precise lip syncing. Absolutely worth a watch!!!
This is better than most Trek coming out today. A superb production.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Beautifully written and beautifully made film. Voice acting was amazing. Superb!
In a just universe, this would be a Star Trek series.
Maybe there's a universe where it is... ;-)
+Michele Bishop Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Be sure to check out "Mudd in Your I" on this channel!
Ah, always gets me right in the I'm not crying, you're crying parts ;)
LOL--mission accomplished! ;-)
I can't believe I first watched this 12 years ago. How time flies. I really love your work! :)
Thanks! Yes, time does march on!
I have seen some fan made productions in my time, but this blows them out of the water... I'd clicked on it expecting to last a moment or so but I was gripped from beginning to end and enjoyed it so much I watched it again on my 50in plasma widescreen with surround sound. The graphic quality is perfect, story telling is great and I look forward to seeing more your work
I am curious about one thing - why did the Romulan ship not destroy the Kara's father's ship instead of firing a single shot to breach the hull
Congratulations on a wonderful animated film based on StarTrek! I can't imagine the hours (weeks, months, years?) of work it took to make this, but you did such good job! Thank you for posting this. A+
