@@TRUCKTECHUK I'm good my friend, thanks for asking, but for now I haven't reached that level of performance to repair vtg actuator only if you help me mate. Cheers👋
@@TRUCKTECHUK Could be interesting to show folks how the VTG mechanism inside works! I think it's a Cummins patent, in theory it should be more reliable than the usual moving vanes construction. Unfortunately the actuators seem to keep you quite busy...
Hey Steve thanks for the comment buddy 👍. I've changed more of these than I've had hot dinners recently 😅. It's nice when the truck works how it should but that will be down to the owner giving a shit about what gets lubed on Its maintenance schedule.....like the grill locks 😂😂😂
Hey Darren 👋 hope you are okay buddy! Yes calibration is a bit different from Davie for example as in.....it tells you what to do 😅 I've stopped working on the pit as I'm sure they are a magnet for my tools 😂😂😂😂
Hey buddy thanks for the comment 👍😎. Tell me about it ha ha ha I've lost count of the amount of times I've had to put my hand in the bucket to fish out bolts 🔩 😑
Love the vids! Any chance you could let me know where you got that coolant pump from that ls brilliant! I’m sick of tipping the bucket into a watering can and making a huge mess!
Hi mate, you mentioned you used a repaired unit to replace the old one. Do you repair them yourself? Otherwise where do you get them repaired please? I'm determined to try and get mine fixed rather than buying new. Cheers
Hi. In one of your posts you mentioned coolant leaking from the left hand side of the rad? Save me trawling all your videos to find it , could you point me in the right direction please? Have a occasional issue on a mx11 which gaffer thinks is a split rad. TIA
Stephen sorry for the late reply, it might be me going on about the overflow pipe from the header tank. It's a pipe that runs from the header tank and down the left-hand side on the rad. If your compressor head gasket has gone it will pressurise the coolant system and vent it out that pipe.....usually coupled with low coolant level warnings that disappear when the truck isn't worked hard. Hope this helps as I can't think of what else I'd have been going on about ha ha ha 😂
😂😂. That was the one! Already had a compressor head change for that fault 👍🏼. Apparently the rad has a leak at the top, where the Ali core meets the plastic, will see what develops. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Hi dear friend Is it true that using the engine brake too much will heat up the turbo charge and damage the VTG. And please tell me the factors that cause VTG to break down and get stuck sooner. Thanks
Hej great video 😊 just have some replaced in daf workshop and truck have no engine code anymore everything is fine when pick truck it has error on coolant level low error and its not sesor and tank what could be done wrong thanks subscribed 😊
Great job boss and good tool tell me please something about this tool this software can do any type of coding and programming i mean sometime have to cheng some boxes like ecu tcu or abs or bcm also
You mentioned that jaltest have a step by step procedure to open and fix electrical problems with the actuator. I' m from Brazil and we cant purchase jaltest from here. Where can I find the process to fix the communication issues?
Hey, thanks for the comment. Jaltest has a guided diagnostic test plan which allows you to identify and fix the fault, which in this case was the actuator. The official repair is to replace the actuator jaltest doesn't have any instructions for opening and repairing the actuator unfortunately as this is beyond most technicians abilities
Hey Lon 👋 . I did replace the actuator, but it was fitted with a repaired unit of mine instead of a new one from DAF. The capitor on the board fails, or the bearings usually go
This is a pain in the ass for the owners, £££, on these dafs.. they've got too complicated.. just to turn wheels on a road.. but keeps u employed lol 😂
Oh most definitely! It is nearly 2k for a new actuator! That's why I've started repairing them for out-of-warranty operators. I'm here to help keep things real for the customer.....I don't charge 100's pounds for the use of the diagnostics unlike some
The VTG actuator, always a headache and not very cheap, good job mate.
Keep going like this💪
Benny!!!!!! How are you doing buddy?
It's cheap if you know how to fix them 😂👌 cheers mate

Cheers buddy, the best thing to do is pressurize the coolant system and have a look. I have got a kit from Eclipse here if you're stuck 😎
Will leave the decisions up to the boss or a total failure will decide for him!! Thanks again.
