This process I’d not “cold spray” or “spray weld”. This is “thermal spray” and a great way to repair engine blocks. This has been going on for more than 100 years. The coating in this video can be done with twin wire arc spray or the powder flame spray method. The coating is typically an iron-nickel-molybdenum blend, with some aluminum and/chrome added at times.
The process is called a cold spray method where the bond of the spray medium being twin wires one positive the other negative coming together to form a arc as it shorts. The spray hits the surface to form a mechanical bond. you can also use zinc coatings to combat corrosion
It is an impressive repair by thermal spray, however, there are thermal effects resulting in unwanted porosity and oxide inclusions that may not be desirable. Cold spraying is one of the alternatives to do the repair of difficult cast alloys.
Is this the same type of process that Ford says they use to restore cylinder walls when they do a rebuild so that they don't have to go over size on the pistons? Thanks
We offer this in our Louisville location only. We have trucks that run between all of our locations though so we can probably work something out if need be. Thanks
@@matthewgettelfinger7659 ok I have a yanmar 4 cylinder that spun #4 main and I was needing to know if you could fix it and a ballpark figure on the cost I live in Virginia but only about a hour from Prestonsburg KY.
This is awesome. I've thought about this before but I didn't think people actually did it.

We have been doing it for quite a while but it does takes some practice to achieve the desired results. Thanks for your comment.

If you pre-heat the part in an oven before you do the spray-weld you will get a lot stronger bond
es muy bueno el trabajo que realizan, de que procedencia es la máquina?
Is there any advantage to pre-heating the material you're spraying. It doesn't appear that there was any pre-heat done?

What kind of wire do you use to spray this coating?

Do you have a number I can call to speak with someone about this?
Buen día
