I was a serial black thumb and had zero interest in plants. Then I visited a plant pop up stand and asked "whats the hardest plant to kill for beginners?" And the person directed me to a tiny Golden Pothos aka "Devil's Ivy". She's my very first plant and paid too much for her now that I go to big box stores and see how much they typically charge but whatever. She's absolutely thriving and 100% sparked my interest in plants. She gave me hope that I can have a green thumb, too. And now I'm addicted to visiting the garden section at stores and nurseries, learning about different plants and their care, watching plant videos and plant care videos such as yours. I'm still getting beginner plants to better boost my confidence but my very first pothos has a big place in my heart. I dont have any of these that you recommended except for the pothos and now I'll be on the look out for them if I can provide adequate care for them in my home. ❤
I appreciate your transparency in mentioning neglect during the difficult times, as well as talking about the Pothos which brought comfort to you. I recently lost my father and the one thing that made me smile a bit during all of this has been re-potting plants from the funeral and caring for them. They will forever hold a special place in my heart! I love your videos and am happy to have such a positive space to visit to continue learning about plants!
That is so beautiful. I inherited my parents plants and knew nothing about plant care. Unfortunately I killed the Jade tree, but the Aloe Vera plants have made it through. Big hugs.
I first bought my Dracaena marginata in an IKEA store in 2013. It survived many location changes and several phases of overwatering AND underwatering. After 10 years and lots of leaf losses I finally repotted it because there wasn't much soil left and the plant grew very long roots... What a survivor!
A pothos is always the first plant I recommend to anyone. You’re absolutely right, they will stick with you through thick and thin. The amount of growth they put out when given perfect conditions is so rewarding to see. I love your content and I’m very lucky to have found your page, thank you 🖤
I propagated mine and gave the new guy to a friend of mine who isn't great with plants but loves vine type plants. Those things stick around and are so resilient, and she loves the little thing
That's why i've killed two in the last year.... whatever. I find it always amazing when they clean and desinfect the plant and mess with the roots ..... if i breathe on my plants wrong..... they're out....i guess i have passive-agressive b.... for plants😢
Love my pothos. He started as one crappy strand in those crazy gift baskets that have 5 plants that should never be together in the same pot lol. Now he is doing great!
I turned the spare room in my apartment into a lil greenhouse, and every time I’m in a major depressive episode (which is more often than not nowadays), all of my plants except my snake plant and one of my Aloe plants dies. So needless to say I was looking up neon pothos before this video was even over. Thank you 💚
Just the video I needed. I’m a beginner plant parent about to move to El Paso after a lifetime in Georgia. Excited to start having plants in the new house to keep an oasis of green in the desert! Thanks for suggesting beginner plants Krystal!!

Thank you for mentioning neglect during difficult times. Its kinda like a best friend since Kindergarten, you may neglect that friend or vise versa but they are there waiting to help you when you are ready. That is exactly what your plants are doing for you now. Especially the neon pothos. I pray that every day brings you smiles and happy memories as you tend to the plants, like when you are drowning that ho!! Krystal I am so happy I found your shorts and now I am thankful for every longer video you make. I am looking out for the pothos next. I want a ponytail but I am scared of it. Don't want my eyes scratched out.
Yes agreed! That friend that you can lean on no matter what is going on. She’s definitely very special. Thank you for your kindness, thank you for your love. It means so much and maybe a small ponytail palm instead to start instead of a big baby 🥰
@@PlantswithKrystal I will try that out. You are inspiring me to try things I never thought I deserved like the fruit roll up plant you had on a short recently. Anyway I appreciate you replying. Threw me off as I usually don't get replies.
I am also scared of ponytail (and also dracenas), but I am more scared that I would kill it, succulents dont seem to want to be friends with me. Still love them though and admire them in stores for now.😂 Maybe one day I will get the courage to try again ...

Thank you! I love my heart leaf Philadendron and my Draecenas. You don't hear about them enough! And a Pony Tail Palm is on my wish list this year. Great video.
Girl, because of your videos I had to go buy a few new plants; A ponytail palm, a twisted lipstick, a pinstriped prayer plant, and two different peperomia plants. I could use some help with the prayer plant, some of her leaf tips are crusty. I enjoy your videos because you explain things so well, and are very relatable. Thank you!
Yeah, neon pothos, also one of my favorite plants! Apart from that, I love philodendrons, recently I got Philo Moonshine and those bright yellow leaves are just a delight for my eyes! Oh, and lately I also have a new found love for Begonias (because I rescued one LOL), especially those with the metallic silver color leaves, oh my god, so pretty! Krystal, I so enjoy your funny videos and shorts, always get excited when one pops up in my feed. Not only do I get a lot of great tips but also a ton of severe entertainment. 🤣I have to thank you in particular for your tip in relation to rescue plants, you sometimes take them out of the soil, rinse the roots out completely and place the plant into just water for some time. I have done that with a few of my rescue plants now and boy! Because of your wonderful tips those plants are putting out new growth! (Insert jumping madly on the couch emoji). Seriously, thank you very much, you taught me many things but if I have to point out one of them it would be this massive LOVE (for plants, for life in general). Wishing you nothing but the best, to me you are an amazing inspiration and I am so glad that I found your channel! And I look forward to more great tips and more laughing moments with you. My hoyas are my pride and joy in my plant collection. I currently have 7 varieties, and I'm sure I'll end up with way more in the future. Such easy care, and although they're slow growers, the payoff is 1000% worth the wait!
ohhhh myyy your ponytail palm is absolutely stunning! That is one that I've been wanting to get but I'm not letting myself until I first take care of my plants that need extra attention, especially my rescue peace lily.
Girl you floor me!😂🤭😆🤣 When you started talking about the Heart Leaf Philodendron and went into the Southern Tent Revival voice 😆Your explanation of the Pothos being your best friend to eat ice cream with & watch videos ☺️🤭 You are so so funny! You could do Stand Up comedy I swear. Totally agree with all your picks. I do the "Taco Test" on my Hoyas and succulents + the dry dirt for most of my Hoyas. So if the Hoya leaf is somewhat firm and doesn't bend to a taco it's fine. If the leaf makes a taco easily it's water time baby! ✌️🫶🤙💚🪴🌱🌵🌿☘️🍃
I love my monstera siltepecana. I chopped it back to just a few leaves in December and it has exploded with new growth. I'll always have snake plants as well.
Thanks for the video. I’m a beginner plant parent and just this week used your soil recipe to repot a neglected spider plant from school. I’m a cleaner there and the teacher wasn’t watering them at all. The old soil was so compacted I couldn’t even get a finger in it. I love the videos, you are doing an awesome job. Ps I’m in London UK.
I love my crimson princess & queen. All my hoyas are just so easy to care for!! Oh yes, my all time is my original heart leaf philo, she's stuck with me through so many years of gross neglect, then I learned consistency and she was loving life, then more neglect. Such a trooper! - OMG, I just realized she's still in the original 4" pot with the same soil (what's left of it) - oh that's embarrassing! Poor thing, 15 years in my care, yikes! Ok today I'm going to repot her and give her a great life from now on, thanks for inspiring me Krystal!!
I have all those plants you were just talking about and easy to take care of and I just love them all. My favorite is pony tail palm and that very tall plant I forgot the name of it
Just came agross your channel, and absolutely love your vibration, love, respect and deep appreciation for your plants. I have to sub because I want to see the videps you post. So for now, I have some binging to do! Thank you so much. This was just wonderfully done. 🥰

Krystal you are the bomb - I have most of the same plants. Particularly fond of the Ponytail, but mine are 1/3 of the size. My fav is a fiddle leaf fig that LOVES it's corner, and is giant! Your commentary is a hoot - keep it up! 😂😊❤ Lib grandma in Tx.
I put my pothos in my bathroom, all I did was tell it it looked beautiful and barely watered it and it was twice the size in a week and a half!! I have four new leaves now and it keeps producing! I looove pothos!
I literally have all of those! And when I started my jungle journey some years back, these were some of the first ones I bought lol!! Love your channel I quickly subscribed 😊
The dracaena marginata 🎉🎉 Mine is fairly small and wasn't doing much, it just had one stem and one ponytail. I had it for almosy a year and it just didn't seem to do anything. Your channel gave me the confidence to CHOP! her top off and propigate the top and hope that the poor little dried up stem would grow! It finally did, and I have been DYING to tell you how thankful I am for your existence! Your advice also helped me save the life of my aloe vera. It was HUGE and my husband was emptying old water bottles into it without me knowing 😢. She's little now, but she's ALIVE! ❤❤❤
My biggest recommendations for beginners are the plants that really kicked off my house plant love - all things tradescantia and all things Coleus! My first tradescantia was a single zebrina cutting from a friend three years ago and I have done Everything to it! I propagate it constantly and have given So many away because it just grows SO fast! It’s so fun to watch, and the purple and green stripes are so beautiful! Same with Purple Heart; that is my /absolute favorite/ of my collection. I started two years ago with one broken stem of two leaves and a flower in water, and it bloomed over and over at least 10 times before it quit flowering and started growing. Since I planted in soil it’s been knocked over, forgotten, stems have broken off and poked back into the soil - I mean really just about everything - and it just keeps putting out beautiful new stems constantly ♥️ even though I thought I’d killed it so many times! I just love plants that I can interfere with 😂 that’s why I love coleus so much too. They come in so many colors and variations, and if they get leggy (which so many of mine have!) you can just chop the tops off and stick them in water or back in the soil with some rooting hormone to get many many new plants! If they get completely dried out they might not come back so you do have to be more diligent than with others, but it can absolutely tolerate overwatering and the best part to me is that anytime new leaves are coming in you can pinch them off so four leaves will come in instead! Then you just keep doing that with every new set of baby leaves and watch it explode!! It’s so therapeutic 💕
I couldn't take my eyes off the little white fella in the background. Is that a plant pot with a drain "spout"?!!! OMG that would be hilarious. I wish I made pottery.
My Mom took to gardening, succulents were her jam, later in life. She spent HOURS researching the what, how, etc. I wish she was still with me, always, but specifically because she would have L❤VED this channel and you! Between thinking about her, especially as Spring is just around the corner, and watching your posts, I'm starting to get the "maybe she was on to something" feeling. 🌿☘️🪴😊
A plant that I put through severe neglect due to not knowing enough about it is my peace lily. I still got pictures from when it looked so sad, with dull and frilly leaves and seemingly no will to live. Now it has fresh soil, a good spot (indirect light but close enough to a window) and I should have re-potted it already because when I gave it fresh soil and a bit of fertilizer, it had a growth spurt that is still going. It now is several plants in one pot and they all deserve their own pot to grow into amazing plants that self-pollinate and clean the air, while looking beautiful with their wide, shiny green leaves and they will get beautiful white flowers several times a year.
I have a lil ponytail, looking forward to watching it get girthy! Also a marble queen pothos I’m going to train up a pole/plank/moss pole when it’s ready, I’ve seen pothos leaves bigger than a human head doing that, they climb trees in nature and get huge, so fun!!
Love all these 🪴's. The one that I don't have is the Hoya and neon pothos. I have numerous pothos, but not the neon. I think the pothos is my fav, bc its so resilient and low maintenance. Will definitely buy one of both of these when I see them.
I put apotheoses in my aquariums. One Lived in my snail tank for a couple years. I still have the stem and it’s rooting and I purposely bought one to root in for my tanks. I bought special holders so it will grow and root in the aquarium. I can’t wait for it to grow. Yes you named a couple of my favourites as well.
DEAR KRYSTAL, I HAVE JUST PURCHASED THREE OF THE PONY TAIL PALMS. I AM GOING TO USE A PILLOW CASE OVER THOSE LEAVES SO I DO NOT GET CUT. THIN SKIN AS I AM, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME SHARING, LOVE AND BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. ANNETTE QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA.
I love these longer videos I wish you did more. I stared watching in July briefly bc I started getting into plant a month before. I love your vid and ideas/ advice!
I would love to see a full length video of your entire planty collection! I so appreciate your realness & your upbeat, fun, & silly nature in your videos & shorts. Sending love & good vibes from VA! ❤
@plantswithKrystal I blame you for my recently plant purchases. I got lucky today after watching this video. I went to my local plant nursery and they were having a buy one get one half off sale. I got the most beautiful ponytail palm and a Swiss cheese monstera.
I just bought a Hoya compacta carnosa (Hoya Hindu Rope) it’s my new fav Hoya right now!! It’s so unique with the compact leaves and long tentacles!!! The leafless tendrils on the end of hoys tendrils are new growth! Do not cut if you want it to grow
Pothos was my gateway plant. When my kids were babies I killed allll the plants. Now that my kids are older, I have the brain space for plant friends again! During the first lockdown in 2020 I bought a giant pothos on a whim, and she’s still going strong. I have propagated many babies from her, and now I’m up to about three dozen plants around my house. The obsession is strong. 😆
I want a neon pothos..the one i have is variegated and pretty but i love the brightness of the neon..the one i have has survived so much! It was my MIL's plant, she passed away..her husband almost killed it for a few years but i rescued her and she is still kickin lol
I have a crazy pothos (Devils ivy) that won't stop growing 🤣 every 2-3 years I need to stretch the 30-40 foot vines, cut and repot. She a happy baby! Thank u so much for your Orchid tips too! For the first time ever, I've kept one alive for a year and it's growing new roots and a flower stalk 🤩 u are a gift to plant moms!
my mom has a pothos above the fridge it gets bright in direct light and it has grown so much in the two years we've had it same with her peace lily though I'm surprised it's still alive after months of neglect and about two years without a repot, watching your videos has helped me learn so much more about plants and im getting more as we head into spring
I was so excited to try a neon pothos, I saw one at lowes and snatched it up! All healthy and beautiful then bam we started wilting and getting mushy so I was like no, need better draining dirt! I kid y'all not, I unpotted it and it was nothing but fresh cuttings!!!!!!! Half of em were too far gone so they had to go but I put the rest in a prop box with sphagnum moss and getting some good roots, thinking another month and I'll get em moved back to a planter pot 🤞
I have a pothos plant that I've given 'hair cuts' to and propagated for my friends and family! Love your channel you're helping me learn so much more about plants! I have my own little corner going now :) and just recently rescued my very first monstera! Wish me luck!
I feel like no matter the plant I always pot in well draining soil and no matter if they require a lot of water/ moisture they have survived a lonnnng time and look so good. You can never go wrong with good draining soil.
My dracenia has crispy tips because my cat won't stop eating it! He has to chew them. Had it on a stand, but the puppy is 100lbs and kept knocking it over. I rescued a broken piece of a heart leaf that I'm propping. I also found a replacement for my favorite vining ficus. The first plant I got after moving to Florida was a golden pothos. It's been 3yrs and she still just trying.
Good morning, Great segment. I love all your plants. I am a new plant parent. I have3 pothos plants,5 snake plants, 1 monstera,3 ZZ, 5 aloes, 2 spiders, several succulents. Thank you for your inspiration. I have most of the plants in my middle upstairs bedroom room. It has a south facing window. I too have rescued a few plants. Most of the plants I have were either given or a purchased treat to myself. Please continue to share your experiences and love for plants. Sending good energy to you 🌱🪴❤ 12:37
I have just about all of these. My hoya compacta is a real trooper, completely bouncing back from being shriveled up and pale from neglect. You'd never know that I was ever a bad plant parent to it. 😅 My dracaena marginata had also put up with similar neglect but is just chillin. And ponytail palms? I have two tiny ones (like a caudex half the size of a golf ball) that do so well with infrequent watering and have some beautiful heads of hair, but my nana has a massive ponytail palm that's at least 30 years old and about 6 feet tall. It's perfectly content to live 10 feet away from a large window, and has gorgeously long tresses. I hope I can inherit it someday 🥺💚
I certainly enjoyed one of your last clips 9n that la4ge cactie let's see how tha5 goes there wunderfull to have if you have the right window of course I recently adopted a dragon dresinia it needs some love but it will come back ..i enjoy all your shorts vids longer ones are great as well learned a few things about certain plants from your post keep up the info very much enjoy.

I love your videos! The Philodendron Brasil is my bestie!!! They are so beautiful and each leaf looks special and unique. Instantly brightens a room.
I'm belgian from Belgium 😝 and I looooooove your 'shorts' ! I'm a new plant addict and all your 'plants rescues' are so satisfying to watch 🤩
My plant that's been an absolute trooper is our oxalis triangularis, or green shamrock! And they grow to be SO FULL with super cute flowers!

@@PlantswithKrystal De nada you are doing an amazing job keep up the good work, you got this Reina 👑 I am glad I found your channel ya le dije a mi familia to subscribe to your channel
Heart shaped philodendron is one of my favourite plants! ❤❤❤
I literally have all of those! And when I started my jungle journey some years back, these were some of the first ones I bought lol!! Love your channel I quickly subscribed 😊
The dracaena marginata 🎉🎉
Mine is fairly small and wasn't doing much, it just had one stem and one ponytail. ❤❤❤
I love love love your ponytail palm family 🥰💚
I have a marginata. I bought her small she grew so much so beautiful now.
Ive learned so much from you and you're so entertaining, love your humor. Your shirt is cool too!
I love my neon pothos too! I also have a ponytail palm...both my top favorites😊
Got to try that ponytail palm
Love love love ponytail palms!! Now I want another!!
Me too! They’re so sassy looking!
Love your videos!! ❤❤
Hope you do a plant tour of all your plants soon 😊!!
Have you ever done a pet safe plant recommendation video?? I'd love to see one if not. I'm absolutely in love with your content ❣️
I have a lil ponytail, looking forward to watching it get girthy! Also a marble queen pothos I’m going to train up a pole/plank/moss pole when it’s ready, I’ve seen pothos leaves bigger than a human head doing that, they climb trees in nature and get huge, so fun!!
Out of all flowers, Krystal is my favorite ❤
I recommend protective goggles for reporting ponytail plant 😂
I just did a pony tail palm repot on stories and I sure did use them 🫣
Love all these 🪴's. The one that I don't have is the Hoya and neon pothos. I have numerous pothos, but not the neon. I think the pothos is my fav, bc its so resilient and low maintenance. Will definitely buy one of both of these when I see them.
Loving the longer videos
I put apotheoses in my aquariums. One Lived in my snail tank for a couple years. I still have the stem and it’s rooting and I purposely bought one to root in for my tanks. I bought special holders so it will grow and root in the aquarium. I can’t wait for it to grow.
Yes you named a couple of my favourites as well.
You have very beautiful plants and so are you
I’ve been struggling mentally lately. Thank you Krystal.
I love, love, love my neon pothos! I also have a marble queen whose leaves are stunning and I love looking at her growth especially this time of year!
I love ponytail 👍🏽💚🌿💚😊
I just got cuttings from hoya krimson princess and a krimson queen! I'm so excited for them to grow and thrive.
Just found you and loving the tips. I am pretty good with plants so it's nice to know I'm doing things right
I would love to see a full length video of your entire planty collection! I so appreciate your realness & your upbeat, fun, & silly nature in your videos & shorts. Sending love & good vibes from VA! ❤
You’re my inspiration! My not so peaceful peace lily just got transferred into water!
I’m so glad I could help you with you plants as well. It sounds like you’ll have some great green babies coming soon. That’s very exciting!
I think the heat from on top of the fridge that stimulates the plants. I feel like it’s a long lost tip plant lovers use to give 😂
Dracaenas are always slept on! I love every growth stage of them.
I love the references to your Mama's fridge pothos lol! I hope it's propagation is going well!
First of all. Your hair is GORGEOUS!! Second, LOVE your videos. Thanks again for showing us these lovely beauties. 🪴
I have a pothos plant that I've given 'hair cuts' to and propagated for my friends and family! Love your channel you're helping me learn so much more about plants! I have my own little corner going now :) and just recently rescued my very first monstera! Wish me luck!
My ZZ Raven I never even think about. Great plant. Also my crown of thorns bloom all year almost no care.
Yes!!!! That’s my favorite too! I find they die most times because they are watered too often. Forget about them and they’ll thrive 🙌🏽
Loved this video Krystal ❤❤
Good morning,
Great segment.
My Hoya crimson princess took a down fall I had to chop it in order to save it …. Your amazing person have a great Sunday
