@canuck_gamer3359 thanks Cannuck for watching again as always. Frustrating round in parts but I'm glad we managed to make some content fun for you all! It was just the tiredness I think, but that's understandable
Absolutely understandable Fents! You did a great job and I give you all the credit in the world for toughing it out. I always enjoy watching and seeing you guys struggle from time to time just reminds me that I'm not alone! Keep up the great work! @@FentsGolf

The bit where "he had to censor what he said then" had me giggling :D But golf-wise Fents you have moments where you play shots SO WELL. Golf is hard, it's always fun to watch for me. Don't be hard on yourself
We've all been there mate lol, I'd say well done for sticking with it, most would have given up half way through but it's real content from a real golfer.
Thanks for sharing your pain - we’ve all been there (far too often in my case). As you said at the end, you were physically tired, but you could also see the mental fatigue. Once things started to go wrong your body tensed up and your swing looked stiff and stilted - I can definitely relate to that 🤬. Well done for battling through 👏
Stay with it Fents! One big suggestion from a PGA pro. On all your shots, you are looking away too soon, concentrate on looking for the grass BENEATH the ball after each hit. This works especially for the putter. Also get a mallet putter with a long line on top. This will help with your alignment. I got an Odyssey two ball putter with the long white line on it. All the difference in the world.
@@FentsGolf No problem. I’ve recently taken up golf, playing in North East England and I’m working my way through the up and down golf channel content. Golf is hard! But when you hit ‘a worldie’ it’s so rewarding. Class stuff mate.
Thanks for the entertaining videos as usual - really enjoyable. Question; do you guys recommend a rangefinder? How do you calculate the distance to the pin?
Great video once again from the up&down boys . Great that you are posting more videos more regularly , keep them coming .but saying that once you get back the uk you will be lucky to play 😁😁 its that grim . Dont worry fents you will be back to fight another round ...cheers lads
Although he kept the obvious internal rage in check, I could see the cords in his neck tightening and a slight redness adorn his cheeks and neck. Good effort lad and excellent temper control.
Love you two guys, down to earth and same as me as me at golf. Good sometimes at golf but most of the time some bloody annoying shots. Great stuff, prefer Fence vs Luke games.
Keep It up mate, good video even though the golf wasn't the best. I think you could do with some putter lessons/practice. Counted about 45 puts. Easy shots to get back with just 2 putts a hole and the occasional 1 putt. Easier said than done 😊
Completely agree mate, the amount of 3, even 4 putts wasn't good enough was it. My lag putting poor for the most part. Thanks for watching though mate, really appreciate it
All the small margins went against Fents there, on a very tough looking course. Clearing a bunker only to bounce in, being within half a yard of going over the water, having an issue with a rake etc, all had a hugely detrimental effect on the round. Better outcomes there, along with a few of those putts that went within an inch or two of the hole actually dropping and it could have been a much different score.
Thanks Carl, I agree! Looking back I shouldn't have been as frustrated as I was. There was good stuff in there and fine margins! Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the support
Tough watch Fents but we have all been there. Quick question - It was mentioned that you were having to speed up as there were golfers catching up. When you are filming how long does it take you both to get round?
Honestly when we are filming we don't take any longer than a normal round, because we have a buggy to get us round too. We are conscious we can't be slow and ruin everyone's rounds around us. Playing in Europe though their tee times are stacked, and when people see a camera they automatically think we are slow, which in reality we aren't. But then we do everything we can to speed up where we can, the last thing we want is to effect anyone else's round
@@UpDownGolf ah nice! Thanks for sharing I got one as well but are afraid to use it and while playing golf and crash into the trees🤣 it has no obstacle avoidence
Plenty of good shots to balance out the bad though. Not as bad as I was expecting. Lol. I shot about 100 the other day. Also had like 8 penalties though.
Unlucky mate! We've all been there. Funny that Luke says 'Portugal is killing us!'. I do find there's a pattern that you usually do better in the UK than in Portugal and Spain. I wonder if you have you calculated your handicap in Portugal/Spain? I find greens are usually quicker, there's more water/hazards and less wide fairway holes than in UK courses. Thoughts?
I definitely agree, I think because we play so few and far between abroad we do struggle with the differences. The grass. The speed of greens, the layouts etc. It may not come across on the videos quite as much, but its a different game! Love it though and thank you for watching mate
Yeh, 100%. I think a big part of it is not being used to the speed of the greens, types of grass, etc. and a smaller part of it is that speed of greens and layouts make courses a bit more difficult.
As much as you slice your driver I’d turn the face in a little bit…just remember to not change your swing. Just grab the grip where it ends up after you turn it in and swing like you always do. It might cost you 10 yards but it’s nice to put the ball in the fairway…✌🏼✌🏼
Hi Fents. I've said this to Luke, once before. " If you don't make a hundred then you aren't getting your money's worth." Besides, four rounds in four days will take its toll.
Grinding is admirable, but if I were playing behind you, I would want you to card a net double bogey & pick up. Also, if Luke hits your ball, you are allowed to move it back to its original position.
Thanks Dane, if we are playing matches, or even casual rounds against each other, we will play gimmes and things like that, but when we record course vlogs like this we like to get the whole round in, so you can see a genuine round. If we ever think we are slowing people down, or affecting their round in any way, we will do what we need to do to speed up trust me. The last thing we want to do is slow anyone down and make their round not enjoyable. At the end of the day we're all there to have a good day!
Has fents tried changing his swing path? he comes over the top and hits horrible weak slices, he’s probs losing 30 yards on his drives and probs 10 yards with each iron
Over summer (you may have seen some of the Scotland videos) my swing path got a lot better and I was confident of hitting straight drives. Unfortunately I've lost that a bit and need to get it back. Thanks for watching mate
Had my first round in 3 years the other day. Course was completely water logged and yeah went awful. Still good laugh at myself. The way I get through it fents is remember it’s a hobby. Just laugh. We will never be pro. Keep it up.
Exactly Danny, completely agree. When I look back on it, I really enjoyed that round, some things went poorly but at the end of the day I'm playing golf with my best mates in the sun! And if you all enjoy it, then even better
If your ball is on the green and it gets knocked out of position by another players ball, you are to replace your ball to where it was lying before being accidentally hit. If you did that… I would have fancied you to have holed your putt 1st time 😋
As I think I said in the other video, I'm coming off a long break, and then going head first into really really tough courses. This was my 4th round of golf in 4 days too, and I struggled with that, as I'm sure you can imagine. @FentsGolf I do genuinely enjoy your content, you're putting pressure on yourself trying to play to 14, I honestly think you're 18, getting 1 shot a hole would give you better stableford scores which gives you confidence , I ain't having a go just speaking from experience
@paullynskey2596 I don't disagree at all mate, and I do feel a lot of pressure trying to play at such a high level. I really struggled on this trip, and I've also now picked up a wrist injury that's likely to keep me out for a few months, things unfortunately aren't going to get any better 😂
@@UpDownGolf y'all could duff it for 2 hours straight and I'm sure most of us would watch it! But I can't imagine a golf trip to Portugal is cheap, so do what y'all need to!
Do you just randomly make up the rules of golf when playing competitions too. Taking a 2 shot penalty doesn't make up for dropping the other side of a lake you could have gone into again...Jesus wept. Its bad enough competing against 20 shots without guys just making up the rules as they go...FFS
We're not playing in a competition here, we're on holiday, playing with a mate, and trying to keep up the pace of play as quick as we can so that the people behind us don't have to face slow play. We're trying to have fun, make some fun content, not win any competitions or compete for money etc. I think you need to take some things with a pinch of salt and take into account the circumstances around what we do.
@@FentsGolf Ye, but, you've done it previously in a competition where you went out of bounds iver white stakes and didn't bother going back to the tee. That one where you were in the hunt. The rules are sacracant. Learn the rules. I'm tired of blokes making up rules as they go
@christopherbyrne18 any rules that we haven't followed to a tee are just genuine mistakes. It would be pretty daft of us to genuinely cheat or break rules, while filming and putting on the Internet for the world to see. I'm not perfect with rules, and if anyone I'm playing with, watching our videos or at the course can help during times when the rules need stringently following then I'm happy to take that advice. If that mistake i/we made during that competition had of put me through and stopped someone else progressing I'd have held my hands up and let the next person progress, and I hope that would come across with how I come across on the videos

@FentsGolf sorry to hear that, its addictive and I'm sure you'll miss it
The man would genuinely snap your hand off for a lower handicap 😂
Let me guess next video out is showing Luke playing this course why not just show a video of you both playing cheap skates
You're not paying their bills, so what are you doing demanding anything from them? Enjoy the content and chill out
Not sure how that makes us cheap skates? There wouldn't be much appetite for a joint video over an hour long i don't think
@@UpDownGolf y'all could duff it for 2 hours straight and I'm sure most of us would watch it! But I can't imagine a golf trip to Portugal is cheap, so do what y'all need to!
We like to break up our videos so people can watch each of us and we have more content for you all to watch. I'm glad to see most people enjoy it.
As a viewer, I would prefer to have them combined into one video especially given y'all were playing together.
I'm tired of blokes making up rules as they go
ua-cam.com/video/4I4ka3Vc6p0/v-deo.htmlsi=lGVakQOdH45RSi9N This series, same thing in competition. Just play by the rules bud
I believe Christopher was going for “sacrosanct “
