    I'm legit crying because I've had my teacher constantly repeat how to do this over and over and I couldn't understand this for five weeks and it gave me anxiety and you taught it to me properly. I want to thank you because it is currently 3:18 and I needed this for a test tomorrow

      Alyssa McMurry WOW! Situations like this are why I am so happy I decided to put my videos on UA-cam! I am so glad you were able to take away some better learning on this. Remember to always eliminate the smaller coefficient of the two variables on the test. So if two negatives do the bigger one first. If positives, then get the smaller one first. That solves most of my students issues on this. Good luck!

    Thank you so much James! I’ve been struggling with advanced mathematics because I hadn’t a great maths head in the first place, and since I’ve been out of school for over 10 years, diving back into algebra has been difficult. I just wanted to leave my appreciation, after scouring UA-cam and the internet, I started your video extremely frustrated with Math, and about half way through following your lesson, it clicked, and I sped through my worksheets like Einstein! Thank you :D

Not 100% sure what you mean by recap style, but check my videos on here as I do have a lot of Algebra content. Basically math 1 and math 2 content is Algebra. I changed the names because of the new math structure, but really it was all Algebra content.

After your 30 minute video, I feel like I've been doing it all my life. I'm pretty sure that when I have my daughter go through it, she will be a pro! Thank you for taking the time to do this, you're a real life saver!!! Do you happen to do anything on equations that have "one solution", "no solution" or "infinite solution"?

      @mathlearningmadeeasy  8 років тому

      +Dawn Tonner I actually do! My way of doing it might be completely different than her teacher though. I use the slopes and y-intercepts because I think that is much better way to understand what is happening versus solving equations and getting random answers such as 0=5. Kids always get confused by this. However, lines have one solution if they have different slopes, because they will cross eachother ONCE! If they have no solution it is because they have the same slope and different y intercepts, because they are parallel and parallel lines will NEVER cross. And lastly they have "infinitely many" solutions if they are intersecting each other all the time. This occurs when they are the same line written in a tricky way so you can't tell. Thus, they will have the same slope and same y intercept. I have my students check slope and y-intercept as the first step. If they find different slopes, solve away! But if the slopes are different, so ahead and find which it is (NONE or INFINITELY MANY). Here is a link.... Best of luck!

    Does it matter which of the variable expressions we subtract by on each side, or do we always end up with the same answer regardless which we subtract by?

    • @mathlearningmadeeasy
      @mathlearningmadeeasy  2 роки тому

      Hi Ali! It does not matter which is subtracted for the answer to end up the same. However, if you follow my instructions then you deal with less negative coefficients during the process. My students always found it easier, though it is the same either way.

    Could you tell me why on EX 3 14:20 we get rid of the -15, and not the -5

    • @mathlearningmadeeasy
      @mathlearningmadeeasy  2 роки тому

      Hey! When solving two step equations you want to isolate the variable. This means to move all the constants (numbers with no x) to one side and the variable with coefficient (number in front of the x) to the other. Otherwise, you would have zero on one side and the other would still have both x and a constant.

    • @mathlearningmadeeasy
      @mathlearningmadeeasy  Рік тому +1

      Please do! I hope it helps. Just remember that, if done correctly with this method, you should always end up with a positive coefficient in front of the variable. It can be fine with negative coefficients but if you can avoid them it removes one level of mistake students often make. Good luck Yuco

      when the x is next to the 8 that means the 8 is being multiplied by the x
