Greatest quarterback of the modern era. JOHNNY UNITAS, JOE NAMATH, JOE MONTANA, DAN MARINO, AND JIM KELLEY ALL CAME FROM WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA. MUST BE SOMETHING IN THE WATER.
And just as good of a man off the field, Mr Unitas was my volunteer rehab coach at Kernans Sports Medicine in Baltimore, after I broke my back, he coached me back to my feet and walking again! .... He actually tossed a football with me in the parking lot on the final day of my rehab.
2 freinds of mine were fussing bout who was the goat and in order to get a 3rd opinion they asked who was the goat Brady or Manning and my answer was Unitas .... LOL
Great to hear Johnny's views on the game -- particularly enlightening on how the rule changes have made the modern passing game so much easier for QBs and wide receivers. QBs in the 50s and 60s were hammered on almost every pass, and since the DBs could play bump & run on pass routes, QBs had to properly anticipate where the receivers might be and thread the pass to the player who was "making" rather than "following" his route.
@@borisbalkan707 Johnny U. only played for the Colts when they were in Baltimore. Their move did not include him. He made it clear he did not want any of his awards moved to Indy .
@@michaelrichardson6051 It's not up to him is it? It's up to the NFL and the Colts owner. Currently Jim Irsay, who hung out with Unitas as a child when his father owned the team. Also, Johnny U was a huge fan of Peyton. Don't tell me you're a salty Baltimore fan still mad the Colts moved out of Baltimore right before Maryland passed a bill allowing Baltimore to take possession of the team like a bunch of commies.
Still a top 10 QB of all-time. Johnny Unitas is like a piece of mythology
My grandfather was friends with Mr.Unitas, they went to high school together and used to go diving and crabbing together in Baltimore.
Miss the great Johnny Unitas. The greatest tactician of the game of football. Film that I've seen - tell me he was a man of great character.
Greatest quarterback of all time
You got that right

Unitas was not in the top 10 quarterbacks. He was and is number 1.
Unitas has to be mentioned whenever Brady, Bradshaw, or Montana are mentioned, he was just that great.

Unitas was a BALTIMORE Colt.
@@michaelrichardson6051 The Colts are the Colts no matter what city they're in. Which is why the Colts trace their origins back to 1953.
