And a thing about the maid outfits, Jack: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids.
Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!

When Miku was starting the band she wanted the juxtaposition between cute maid costumes and melt your face off rock music. And I think that idea has worked very well over the years, they all look cute but the music is hard and loud. One of the things that made me a fan was the obvious bond they have, they're always smiling and having fun.

Infectious joy. Let’s rock and have fun while we do it. Let everyone else stare at their shoes and sing about how terrible their childhood was.
Please put “Band Maid Live” on your bucket list. Everyone is so happy. Even waiting in line. Strangers say hi and talk about their favorite Band Maid song. And during the show, the moment Kanami hits that riff…the cheers explode! ❤

Thanks for the reaction and comments. Freedom is the HAPPY song performed by the happiest group of ladies on the planet. If these ladies can’t make you smile from ear to ear, I’m not sure anything can. Cheers!

"Freedom" encapsulates a lot of that. They didn't write the song (tho the lyrics are Kobato's), it's not their best or most impressive song (even when it was released), but they almost always play it live. It's THEIR song that they love playing, it's sorta like their softer songs where they're like, "We like emotional, not- so- flashy stuff too" but this is "Yeah, high energy but let's all just have fun." And then it's STILL impeccably arranged with great playing. As Bruno says, "This fcken band, po!"

That drum solo was the moment that anyone who suspected that Akane was an outstanding drummer had that suspicion confirmed and, notice, she never missed the beat of the song during the solo.

If the maid costumes stop some people from listening to BAND-MAID then that just makes the club a little more exclusive for us 😉🤘✌

Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I went to see a special concert by Band-Maid & The Warning on June 12 in Tokyo. (I am sure The Warning is your favorite one.) I was in a seat on 2nd floor but in front of the drum set !!!! What a bliss! Paulina and Akane literally and happily competed to see which drummer can break their bass drum first in the joint finale 🤣 The Warning, the opener, performed so powerful that it looked to me that the Maids were fired up to start their turn as a hostess band. It was 150% energetic throughout their performance including that new collaborated song "Show Them".
Whenever I witness Band-Maid perform this "Freedom", Akane's powerful and seismic drumming with Misa's heavy undulation shake my internal organs. Then you are right. No one can resist smiling. Again, what a bliss! 😍

This is arguably the best video to see how they gel and their relationships on stage. MISA and Saiki trying to make Akane laugh, Kanami messing with Miku. The music is just wonderful. The gap between the sound and how they look makes sense with Miku's original idea of surprising audiences. Simply mesmerising no matter how many times I watch and listen to them.

It's such a joy when someone actually get Band Maid early on. There is not a tighter rock band out there. And did you notice thru that whole drum solo.....Akane stays perfectly in time !!!!! Im a drummer and let me tell you that during a solo...thats not easy to do...I can't even imagine doing with a large live crowd screaming. These girl are freckin good !!!!

The Maids performing one of their (two) most performed songs: Freedom and Real Existence. But the Maids in this MV are pure perfection, aren't they? I mean, what can you fault? And those faces... their attitude... their music... their playing... their story... and their joy! Band-Maid is a world treasure, imo! Thanks, Jack, for bringing the world's best hard rock band to your viewers!

They ae a joy to see live. The ladies just love playing live and the crowd can tell. Plus they are extremely funny to watch as some of their stage antics are hilarious! Especially Miku's "Magic Time" MC section - Often the rest of the band will try and put her off or upstage her! They really do put the fun back into Rock & Roll.

Even their rehearsals are a blast (and they rehearse a lot), they are living their best lives with their best friends. The behind the scenes videos or documentaries of everything they do shows they are having this much fun together, even when the video shoots are freezing cold or boiling hot, or incredibly long.

Misa is more outwardly stoic (like you and also me), but she probably posts more on social media about enjoying live gigs than any other member. I've seen them 9 times and they always look like they're having the time of their lives. You can't fake that night after night.

The Maids do make you feel happy, especially when they are having fun on stage as they play outstanding music. They play the game of funny/weird faces called hengao, 2:21. All in the hopes of making one of them laugh and mess up. Akane says good try, as she didn't miss a beat, and makes a kissy face to the group at 2:29. As for the Maid outfits, I think you should watch, react, to the Ohrenje channel 7 part documentary. It sounds like a lot to watch, but each episode is well produced, entertaining and informative. Several reactor have done the entire series as a reaction. Starts with Saiki --> Kanami --> Akane --> MISA --> and a 3 part of Miku and you will get a better understanding of where the Maid theme originates. Ohrenje has been updating the documentaries to be even more up to date, so there is currently a new version and old version for Saiki and Kanami. Both are worth watching. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘

Mic sounds GREAT! Band-Maid really LOVES this song and that's why they show so much joy playing it.
Band-Maid was conceived by Miku that had a dream of creating a band dressed as mild mannered Maids playing face melting Hard Rock. This is know as "The Gap" as Miku calls it. Also Miku was actually an employee at a Maid Cafe in the Tokyo area. If you don't know about Maid Cafe's look them up on UA-cam....they're FUN! You can also see Maid Cafe Miku come out in all her Omajinai (Magic Spell) time whch is Band-Maids "Intermission" part of their LIVE shows. It will all start coming together Moe-Moe Kyun-Kyun (strong emotion towards the fans). They're all really cute and fun to watch. Along with her blessing the food in their Official music video "Don't You Tell ME", it's a Maid Cafe thing too.

If you think the Maid Outfits are silly you should see Miku's Magic Time. It's the greatest comedy bit of all time! Well, not it's tied with the into to Miku's song, 'Rock In Me'.

There are many Band-Maid haters (I'm NOT one). They occasionally reveal themselves in comments of Lovebites and other J-metal videos. DO NOT interpret this as all Lovebites fans hate BM, but a few do.
As an afterthought I searched your reactions for Lovebites and Nemophila, the other two of Japan's "big three" female bands and found none. You should fix that. I would certainly subscribe then.

What would you recommend for a first song to listen to of Lovebites and Nemophelia

    • @daveminers3404
      @daveminers3404 4 місяці тому

@@jackmeri The "traditional" first song for Lovebites is "Holy War" live from the 2020 Five of a Kind show. That's fine, but as a non-traditional guy, I recommend "Thunder Vengeance", also live and the opener from the 2020 Five of a Kind show and "The Hammer of Wrath" live from the Knocking at Heaven's Gate 2023 show. This show is their first show off hiatus after their original bassist and founder Miho left the band. If you want a MV, try "Judgement Day", which is also their first video featuring the new bassist Fami, or "Winds of Transylvania", the Vladlove version, which is a song used in an anime. I WOULD recommend a couple of my favorites (actually they're all my favorites) like "Break the Wall" or "Raise Some Hell", or even their masterpiece "A Frozen Serenade" but they aren't official Lovebites videos off of their YT channel. If, while watching their live music you wonder what the piano is for, check out "Swan Song" with the Chopin intro from the Five of a Kind show.
Please note that it is Nemophila (Neh-moe-fee-la), not how you spelled it. Specifically, there is no "ia" at the end. Almost everyone makes that mistake initially. To illustrate their range, I recommend MV's "Adabana" or "Rise" (you can use the MV or official live video for "Rise), followed by "Odyssey", then shock yourself back into life with "Zen" live. "Oiran" is a good starting point, too. There is a MV and TWO official live videos for that one.

You dare us not to smile... but you didn't smile in the whole video, on the contrary, it seemed like it bothered you. 😕
What's your problem with these girls? Are they so much better than the bands you listened to when you were a teenager?
Or you can't stand a bunch of Asian girls being at this level?
    Get over it, dude. 😉
