I gave my Brother my VFR 800Fi earlier this year in exchange for a ZX9. You know that expression 'don't know what you have got until it's gone' very true. I have had various bikes over the years and a couple really shine out. Going to see a 2001 St tomorrow and feel a bit nervous as I have heard so many good things about this bike.
Hope the guy recovered quickly and learned his lesson - sorry to read about the total loss. My '01 was fully loaded and superb except for the less than ideal gear shifting (current '08 only slightly better). I'm now on my 2nd ST (also fully loaded) and have never been better. Love the newer GT and Trophy SE models. Who knows...thanks for sharing.
I would never say goodbye to Faun..2001 ST,British racing green. We went down together a few times so the panniers are history, lost on the freeway crash at 75 mph, most things were disasembled only to be brought to almost new again..we went down again the christmas following but only to recover stronger than before. I have a few side relationships that Faun knows about..my 1050 speed triple and mistress KLR 650...she doesnt care because all I ride is her. Pure bliss,955i.
Very well said. If I had to do it over again I would not have sold her but hind sight is always 20/20. That bike has probably been the best riding bike I have owned. (have owned about 50 different bikes)
I have a RS and a ST and they are both highly under-rated and great buys! Perfect all-round, sporty, yet comfortable and the engine sound........pure music!
I loved my 955I. I ran my 955 on the track and it was an awesome bike. It has bags so its was an awesome commuter. I have owned a lot of different bikes, but this is my favorite bike I have owned so far.
I love both bikes but the sprint is much more user friendly. It has bags and can carry a passenger easier. The power is about the same but the speed triple is lower geared. Unless you you are going to do track days or stunting I would buy the sprint.
I have not owned a Fazer but I am very confident that you will like the Sprint ST. Its not bad for a passenger as long as the trip isnt to long (200 miles or more).
Its probably not as cold here in North Carolina as in the UK, but some parts of the U.S. are very cold. The funny thing most people in the U.S. will not even think about riding when its cold let alone when its snowing. Thanks for the comments.
'Ranger, I have an '03 Sprint with 100K on it - love it! Q: Where'd you get the tank pads and zipper guard? My ol' Lockhart "tank bra" is rather shagged at this point..
Great bike, I'm going to buy one soon, in black. I can see how nostalgic you were about selling it, I know that feeling... That is a good sign for me, though, as I'm getting one. Keep riding
I didnt think that the Sprint felt heavy. It all depends on what you are comparing it to. Mine weighed around 500-550LBS. This was one of the best bikes I had owned, and I have owned almost every make.
You've made a very nice & honest video and sad at the end (I know that feeling) It will happen again now that I'm getting convinced to "upgrade" to a 955i ST '2004 and I'll have to see my beloved Fazer FZS 600 go (see my vdeos) Do you thing it would be a good choice? I love my Fazer, I'd just like more low-torque/power for my mountains ride, and I like those panniers as I often ride with my wife as a pillion. Thank you
Yes sport tourers are much more comfortable than an all out sport bike. The Sprint is a little on the aggressive side for a sport tourer. If you can do 4 hours on a ninja 250 then you should feel right at home on a sport tour. You should consider an adventure bike. They would fit you the best. Check out my Triumph tiger videos.
I am only about 5'6" so this bike will feel a litte cramped on your legs. The new Sprint GT though would fit better but any sport type bike is going to be a little cramped. I know people that are your hight and still ride bikes like that though.
@@Jeremybaland Good condition, new Michelin tires, new rotors, pads and perfect fairing. It has 93000km, that's why it was so cheap, people are scared of a few kilometers these days.
@@paulloper8333 Thats awesome. If you keep up on the maintenance it will last a long time. I knew a guy that had one with over 90,000 miles and he was still riding it cross county. Good luck with it and ride safe.
LoL will never sell my sprint I my self have a lot of bikes in my garage would sell every other , but not my st sprint keep spending money new fork seals steering bearings looks as good as the day I got hear.
Lone Ranger wao that's a beautiful answer I don't really ride everyday I only ride on Sundays I wasn't interested in a 950 cc but the price is just right 1500$ and there is nothing wrong with the bike is in running conditions with new tires. that's a no brainer

Eduardo Silva They are great bikes. It's hard to find one nowadays in without being wrecked or dropped. Good luck and ride safe.
I miss it. Thanks for the comments :)
Thanks, Im still trying to figure out how to make videos. I probably need better video editing software.

Will never let my ST 2009 go. will buy another!
Andy Anderson yeah it's to bad Triumph stoped importing the ST in the US.

I cant remember the exact name brand that I used on this bike. Google or go to Ebay and search for motorcycle traction pads or protection pads.

Did you change tires or needed any preparation for this light winter/snow in the end?
No changing tires. Just rode careful and avoid any discoloration or ice on the road.
+Lone Ranger Or pray that the black ice is quickly spotted. Riding season almost over...
I bought a racing green ST 2001 for 600$ loving it so far.
$600 is pretty cheap depending on the condition of the bike.

I'm buying this bike next week but the only negative is the miles 40k but it is in good condition for a good price I guess is ok
40k? it depends on how much you are going to ride it. when I got rid of mine it had 40k on it. you should be able to get 80k out of it with no issues.

+lets go eagles 1500 is a good price. Just make sure the proper services are done and you shouldn't have any issues. ride safe, and good luck with it.
I've read where well maintained examples reach 100k miles on a regular basis.
Yeah I could see that happening. I didnt ever have that problem being that im 5'6" :D
Well if the guy you sold it to crashed and totaled the bike I guess you did send it to the grave. Had the same thing happen with the 955i I sold.
Id rather sell my sole than sell my sprint
Spent more time talking bollocks ------- nothing new there
