“What’s for dinner?” Made me cry. Such a simple statement.
My mom was deployed for a while when I was in sixth grade and when she got home she said “I want a home cooked meal. But for gods sake no chicken.” She worked at a store for military and employees, and I can’t quite remember why they were deployed over to Iraq - I was like 12, so this is well over thirteen years ago - but she was gone for 15 months and it was the worst time of my life. I was stuck living with my sister, and we got along about as well as oil and water.
My mom wasn’t a soldier, she didn’t have a weapon, they were escorted everywhere... but I still knew even at that age that her life was in very real danger while she was gone.
So the fact that she lived through it to complain about the food? I can live with that.

I remember like 20 years ago my grandfather served the navy and was deployed for 2 years almost. I remember when he came back. I cried my eyes out like crazy. My grandfather was a lot like your best friend.

This is so heart warming
The fireman kid was still a little too young to understand. From these horrible wars and battles and separation of family members comes something very natural and indescribable. Love for his Dad. You can see it there. - another sweet glimpse of the beauty of life.

Just so you know there is no war in Kuwait we have a military base here so the US army can deploy from here to Iraq. Ps Kuwait is the richest country in the world most people think that Kuwait is a war zone we had one war when Iraq tried to invade Kuwait and Kuwait is a great place to visit with you’re country we have great restaurants and tourists attractions and if you guys miss the US we have Wendy’s and five guys and almost everything you guys have.
